Overview

The Team Losi Racing Silicone Diff Fluid, 3000CS (model Z-TLR5279) is a precision lubricant engineered specifically for RC car differential systems. This premium silicone-based fluid is designed to optimise differential performance in competitive and recreational RC racing applications across the UK and beyond. Whether you're running a high-performance 1/10 scale buggy, a 1/8 truggy, or any other RC vehicle that relies on differential gearing, this fluid delivers the consistent viscosity and thermal stability required for smooth, predictable handling and maximum drivetrain efficiency.

Differential fluid plays a critical role in RC car performance, affecting how power is distributed to the wheels during cornering, acceleration, and braking. The 3000CS viscosity rating makes this fluid an excellent mid-range choice for drivers who want balanced differential action without sacrificing responsiveness. It's ideal for those seeking to fine-tune their RC car setup, whether you're competing in circuit racing or enjoying weekend bashing sessions. Team Losi Racing, a renowned manufacturer in the RC hobby, has formulated this silicone fluid to meet the demanding requirements of modern RC racing, making it a trusted choice among UK RC enthusiasts and competition drivers alike.

The silicone composition provides superior performance stability across varying temperatures, ensuring your differential operates consistently whether you're racing in summer heat or cooler weather conditions. If you're serious about optimising your RC car's handling characteristics or simply need to maintain your drivetrain properly, this specialist lubricant is an essential component in your RC maintenance kit.

Key Features

  • Silicone-based formula — The silicone composition ensures excellent thermal stability and consistent performance across a wide temperature range, making this fluid reliable whether you're racing in warm or cool UK conditions.
  • 3000CS viscosity rating — This mid-range viscosity provides balanced differential action, offering a sweet spot between lock-up control and responsiveness, suitable for most RC racing styles and vehicle types.
  • Precision differential control — Formulated specifically for RC car differentials, this fluid optimises power distribution to the wheels during cornering and acceleration, directly improving handling and traction characteristics.
  • Team Losi Racing engineered — Manufactured by Team Losi Racing, a respected and recognised name in the RC racing industry, ensuring this fluid meets professional-grade performance standards.
  • Competition-grade quality — This lubricant is formulated to the same standards used in competitive RC racing, making it suitable for both casual enthusiasts and serious racers looking to improve their setup.
  • Convenient ready-to-use format — The fluid comes in an easy-to-use bottle, allowing you to quickly apply it to your differential without waste or mess, making maintenance straightforward and efficient.

Technical Performance

The TLR Silicone Diff Fluid 3000CS represents a precision engineering solution for RC differential systems. At 3000 centistokes viscosity, this fluid occupies the mid-range of Team Losi Racing's differential fluid lineup, positioning it between lighter fluids like the 4000CS variant and heavier options such as the 5000CS, 6000CS, and ultra-heavy 30,000CS and 80,000CS formulations. This viscosity rating is achieved through careful silicone chemistry, ensuring the fluid maintains consistent flow characteristics regardless of ambient temperature fluctuations commonly experienced during RC racing in the UK. The silicone base provides superior oxidation resistance compared to mineral oils, extending the fluid's effective lifespan and protecting differential gears from wear. The fluid's performance profile makes it particularly suitable for drivers who prefer a responsive differential that still provides adequate locking characteristics for controlled cornering. Whether you're operating a 1/10 buggy, 1/8 truggy, short course truck, or similar RC vehicle, the 3000CS viscosity delivers the differential action needed for predictable handling. The formulation has been engineered to work seamlessly with standard RC differential designs, ensuring optimal power delivery without causing gear slippage or excessive lock-up that could compromise handling dynamics.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What viscosity should I choose for my RC car differential fluid? — Differential fluid viscosity determines how quickly your differential locks and unlocks during cornering. Lighter fluids like 3000CS offer quicker, more responsive action, whilst heavier options provide more locking effect. The 3000CS is a popular mid-range choice that works well for most RC racing styles, offering balanced performance. Your choice should depend on your vehicle type, track conditions, and driving style — lighter fluids suit high-speed carpet racing, whilst heavier options suit loose surfaces.
  • How does differential fluid affect my RC car's handling? — Differential fluid directly influences how your RC car turns and distributes power between the wheels. The viscosity you choose affects steering response, traction during cornering, and overall stability. The 3000CS viscosity provides a balanced setup that improves handling predictability without excessive lock-up, making it suitable for drivers developing their skills or seeking responsive handling characteristics.
  • Is Team Losi Racing silicone diff fluid suitable for competitive RC racing? — Yes, absolutely. Team Losi Racing formulates this fluid to competition-grade standards, making it suitable for serious racers and circuit competitors. Many UK RC racers use Team Losi Racing fluids as part of their setup optimisation strategy, and the 3000CS is a popular choice across various RC racing disciplines.
  • How often should I change my differential fluid? — It's good practice to replace differential fluid periodically, especially if your RC car has been heavily used or exposed to moisture and dirt. Regular maintenance keeps your differential operating smoothly and prevents gear wear. Many racers change their diff fluid every few months of regular use, or after particularly muddy or wet racing sessions.
  • What is the difference between 3000CS and other diff fluid weights in the Team Losi Racing range? — Team Losi Racing offers differential fluids in multiple viscosities: 3000CS, 4000CS, 5000CS, 6000CS, 30,000CS, and 80,000CS. The lower numbers (3000CS, 4000CS) provide quicker, more responsive differential action suitable for circuit racing and high-speed driving. The higher numbers (5000CS, 6000CS) offer more locking effect for loose surface conditions. The ultra-heavy options (30,000CS, 80,000CS) provide maximum lock-up for extreme off-road conditions. Choose 3000CS for responsive, balanced differential action in most standard RC racing scenarios.
