Overview
The Team Losi Racing Machined Shock Pistons, Thin 2 x 1.5mm G3 (2) represent genuine OEM replacement parts engineered for the TLR 22X-4 ELITE, the championship-winning 1/10 scale 4WD electric RC buggy that dominated competition at the ROAR Nationals. These precision-machined shock pistons are essential consumables for any serious RC racer in the UK who demands podium-ready performance from their competition-grade buggy. Whether you're preparing for club racing, national championships, or weekend bash sessions, having quality shock parts on hand ensures your TLR 22X-4 ELITE remains in peak racing condition.
Designed and manufactured by Team Losi Racing's product development team using the same expertise that puts TLR vehicles high on the podium, these machined shock pistons meet exacting standards for precision and durability. The thin piston design with 2 x 1.5mm specification offers specific shock damping characteristics critical for tuning your RC buggy's suspension response on dirt and clay tracks. As a consumable part subject to wear during regular competition and practice, having replacement shock pistons available is part of any serious racer's pit box maintenance routine.
These machined pistons are part of Team Losi Racing's comprehensive G3 shock system, which has been track-tested under real competition conditions by TLR Factory Team drivers worldwide. Unlike generic shock parts, TLR genuine components are manufactured to fit precisely with your 22X-4 ELITE chassis, ensuring consistent performance and reliable setup changes during tuning sessions. For UK RC enthusiasts who want to maintain their RC car UK competition performance at the highest level, these shock pistons are an authentic choice backed by racing pedigree.
Key Features
- Machined Construction — These pistons are precision-machined rather than stamped or moulded, which provides superior dimensional accuracy and consistency batch-to-batch, ensuring predictable and repeatable shock performance during competitive racing.
- Thin Piston Specification — The thin profile design with 2 x 1.5mm orifice sizing delivers specific damping characteristics that are carefully calibrated for the TLR 22X-4 ELITE's suspension geometry and track conditions common in UK racing circuits.
- G3 Shock System Compatibility — These pistons are engineered specifically for Team Losi Racing's G3 generation shock absorbers, ensuring perfect fitment with your 22X-4 ELITE and all associated G3 shock components in your spares collection.
- Pair Quantity — Each package contains two pistons, providing front and rear shock replacements or allowing you to maintain spares for rapid pit box maintenance during racing events without waiting for shipping.
- Factory Track-Tested — Every TLR part is used and successfully tested by Team Losi Factory Team drivers under actual competition conditions, guaranteeing that these pistons have proven performance credentials in real racing scenarios.
- OEM Quality Assurance — As genuine Team Losi Racing parts manufactured using the same high-grade materials selected for the complete TLR 22X-4 ELITE kit, these shock pistons deliver the reliability and precision expected by championship-level racers.
Technical Performance
The TLR Machined Shock Pistons represent precision engineering applied to one of the most critical suspension tuning variables in 1/10 scale RC buggy racing. Shock damping is controlled by the internal piston orifice design, and the 2 x 1.5mm specification of these thin pistons creates a specific restriction to shock fluid flow that affects how quickly your suspension compresses and rebounds when navigating bumpy track surfaces, landing from jumps, or cornering aggressively. The machining process ensures that both pistons in the pair are dimensionally identical, preventing the imbalance that can result from stamped pistons where tolerances may vary slightly between units. This consistency is crucial for maintaining balanced handling behaviour across both the front and rear axles of your TLR 22X-4 ELITE. Team Losi Racing's engineering team has calibrated these thin piston specifications as part of the complete G3 shock ecosystem, which integrates machined shock bodies, precision shafts, and carefully selected spring rates to create a suspension system capable of winning at the highest levels of competition. The thin profile allows for more precise fluid damping control compared to thicker designs, giving tuners the fine adjustment capability required when dialling in your buggy's handling for specific track layouts. In UK racing conditions where clay and dirt surfaces can vary significantly from venue to venue, having access to multiple piston specifications allows racers to adapt their suspension tune without rebuilding entire shock assemblies.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which RC buggy do these shock pistons fit? — These pistons are engineered specifically for the Team Losi Racing TLR 22X-4 ELITE 1/10 scale electric RC buggy and are compatible with the G3 generation shock system included on that model. They will not fit other shock types or RC car brands without modification.
- What is the difference between thin and standard piston specifications? — Thin pistons like the 2 x 1.5mm design provide a smaller internal orifice compared to standard thicker pistons, which restricts shock fluid flow more significantly and affects damping characteristics. Racers select piston thickness based on track conditions and desired suspension responsiveness, with thinner pistons generally creating stiffer damping.
- Are these machined pistons better than cheaper alternatives? — Yes, precision-machined pistons offer superior dimensional consistency compared to stamped or cast alternatives, which is critical for competitive racing where thousandths of an inch of variation can impact handling balance and consistency. TLR machined pistons are manufactured to the same standards used by Factory Team drivers, ensuring reliable performance.
- Do I need shock piston spares for racing? — Shock pistons are internal components that gradually wear during normal racing use, and having replacement pairs available in your pit box is essential for maintaining consistent setup and allowing for quick tuning changes between heats or qualifying rounds without waiting for mail delivery.
- How do I know which piston specification to use? — TLR offers this 2 x 1.5mm specification alongside other options including 2 x 1.6mm, 2 x 1.7mm, 2 x 1.8mm and thicker 2.3mm variants, allowing suspension tuners to select the orifice size that matches their track conditions and preferred handling characteristics. Many racers experiment with different specifications during practice sessions to find their optimal setup.
- Can I fit these to other Losi RC buggies? — These pistons are specifically engineered for the G3 shock system on the TLR 22X-4 ELITE. Other Losi vehicles may use different shock generations with incompatible piston designs, so verification with the vehicle's manual or parts diagram is essential before purchasing.
