Overview
The Team Losi Racing 16mm Front Shock Spring with a 4.6 rate is an essential replacement or upgrade part for RC enthusiasts running the 1/8 scale 8IGHT 4.0 buggy platform. Whether you are competing at the highest levels or enjoying weekend bashing with your RC car UK, having quality shock springs that match your driving style and track conditions is crucial to achieving optimal suspension performance. This genuine Team Losi Racing component delivers the precision engineering and durability that competitors and hobbyists alike have come to expect from one of the world's leading RC manufacturers.
Supplied as a pair of silver-finished springs, these 16mm front shock springs are designed specifically for the 8IGHT 4.0 4WD nitro and electric buggy platforms. The 4.6 rate specification determines how stiff the spring is, directly affecting how your buggy responds to bumps, jumps and cornering loads. Choosing the correct spring rate for your driving conditions and personal preference is one of the most effective ways to tune your RC buggy's handling characteristics without major chassis modifications. Whether you are racing on tight technical tracks or bashing through rough terrain, having the right springs makes a measurable difference to your RC buggy's performance and your enjoyment of the hobby.
Team Losi Racing has a proven track record in competitive RC racing, and their shock springs are engineered to withstand the demands of both serious competition and recreational driving. The silver finish not only provides a professional appearance but also helps identify the spring rate at a glance, making setup changes and maintenance straightforward. For any serious RC enthusiast in the UK looking to optimise their 8IGHT 4.0 buggy or simply replace worn springs, this is a genuine OEM part you can trust.
Key Features
- Genuine Team Losi Racing Component — As an official TLR part, this spring is designed and tested to work perfectly with your 8IGHT 4.0 platform, ensuring compatibility and reliability that aftermarket alternatives cannot guarantee.
- 4.6 Spring Rate — The specific spring rate of 4.6 provides a defined level of stiffness that affects suspension travel, ride height, and overall handling balance, allowing you to fine-tune your buggy's performance to match your driving style and track conditions.
- 16mm Shock Diameter — The 16mm diameter is the standard size for front shocks on the 8IGHT 4.0 platform, ensuring perfect fitment and seamless integration with your existing suspension system.
- Pair of Two Springs — You receive two springs in this package, which is the quantity required for the front shock pair on your buggy, so you have everything needed for a complete front suspension refresh.
- Silver Finish — The silver colour coding makes it easy to identify the spring rate at a glance during setup and maintenance, helping you keep track of your suspension configuration and making future tuning changes more straightforward.
- Competition-Grade Engineering — Developed through years of racing experience and refined on competition tracks worldwide, these springs deliver the precision and durability expected by serious RC competitors and dedicated hobbyists alike.
Technical Performance
Shock springs are fundamental to RC buggy suspension tuning, and the performance characteristics of your chosen spring rate directly influence how your 8IGHT 4.0 handles across different terrain and driving conditions. The 4.6 rate specification places these springs in a medium stiffness range, suitable for a variety of racing scenarios and casual driving environments. A stiffer spring rate generally reduces suspension travel and maintains higher ride height, improving cornering stability and reducing chassis roll during aggressive manoeuvres. Conversely, softer springs absorb impacts more effectively and maintain better traction on rough or bumpy surfaces by allowing greater suspension articulation. Team Losi Racing's engineering ensures consistent performance across the entire spring's working range, with quality materials that resist fatigue and deformation even after extended use. The 16mm diameter is precisely machined to fit the shock bodies on the 8IGHT 4.0 without play or binding, maintaining the accuracy of your suspension geometry. Whether you are running the nitro-powered 8IGHT 4.0 or the electric 8IGHT-E 4.0 variant, these springs provide identical performance benefits, making them a versatile upgrade or replacement option for either platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is spring rate and how do I know if 4.6 is right for me? — Spring rate measures the force required to compress a spring by a set distance, expressed as a number. A 4.6 rate is medium stiffness and works well across a variety of track conditions and driving styles. If your buggy feels too bouncy or unstable, you may need a stiffer spring; if it feels too harsh or doesn't absorb impacts well, a softer spring may help. Many drivers find 4.6 to be a balanced starting point for both racing and recreational use.
- Are these springs compatible with both the 8IGHT 4.0 Nitro and Electric models? — Yes, these springs are designed for the Team Losi Racing 8IGHT 4.0 platform, which includes both the 1/8 8IGHT 4.0 4WD Nitro Buggy and the 1/8 8IGHT-E 4.0 4WD Electric Buggy. Both models use identical front shock assemblies, so these springs work on either version.
- How often should I replace my shock springs? — Shock springs should be replaced when they become visibly worn, lose their original shape, or when you notice changes in your buggy's suspension feel and handling. Regular inspection during maintenance is recommended, especially if you race frequently or bash in harsh conditions. These springs are engineered for long service life but will eventually fatigue with heavy use.
- Do I need to replace both front springs at the same time? — It is best practice to replace both front springs together to maintain balanced suspension geometry and handling characteristics. Mixing worn and new springs can cause uneven ride height and unpredictable handling, so a complete pair replacement ensures your buggy handles consistently.
- What tools do I need to install these springs? — Installation requires basic RC tools including a shock tool or Allen key set to remove the shock caps and access the spring. No special equipment is needed; most RC enthusiasts have these tools already in their workshop.
