Overview

The EFL Landing Gear Springs (Pair) for the Timber series is an essential replacement component for maintaining your E-flite Timber RC aircraft in peak flying condition. Whether you're operating a classic Timber or the advanced Timber Evolution 1.5m, these genuine E-flite spare springs are critical to ensuring smooth landings and reliable ground handling performance. As a dedicated RC hobby retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine E-flite spares including a comprehensive range of Timber aircraft components, from landing gear assemblies and wheels to fuselages, wings and control linkages. Keep your STOL favourite in top form with our range of genuine E-flite Timber spares, designed specifically for the demanding requirements of bush flying and rough-field operations.

Landing gear springs are wear items that deteriorate over time through repeated landings, impacts and taxiing. The suspension properties of your landing gear springs directly affect shock absorption, ground clearance and overall aircraft handling characteristics. When springs lose their tension or become damaged, your aircraft's landing geometry changes, potentially affecting control response and increasing wear on other landing gear components. Upgrading or replacing these springs is one of the most important maintenance tasks for any serious RC pilot in the UK who flies their Timber aircraft regularly. This pair ensures your landing gear system returns to factory specifications and original performance characteristics.

Our knowledgeable, friendly team at RC Model Shop is happy to help you identify the right part number for your Timber model and advise on fitment or alternatives. We maintain large UK stocks for fast dispatch and next working day delivery options so you can get back in the air sooner. Whether you're preparing for a maiden flight, recovering from a hard landing, or performing routine maintenance, these genuine landing gear springs are the professional choice.

Key Features

  • Genuine E-flite Spare Part — These springs are factory-manufactured by E-flite to exact specifications, ensuring compatibility and performance that matches your original Timber aircraft equipment. Using genuine spares protects your investment and guarantees reliability.
  • Pair Quantity — Two springs are included in this package, allowing you to replace both main landing gear springs or keep a spare set in your flight box for emergency repairs and maintenance.
  • Designed for Timber Aircraft — Purpose-engineered for the Timber and Timber Evolution 1.5m models, these springs integrate seamlessly with your existing landing gear assembly and components.
  • Critical Wear Item — Landing gear springs deteriorate through normal flight operations and repeated landings, making them essential consumables for any RC pilot flying their Timber on a regular basis.
  • Essential Maintenance Component — Keep common wear items—propellers, spare main gear and springs—in your flight box, as recommended by E-flite's own maintenance guidance for extended aircraft longevity.
  • Professional-Grade Replacement — Restore your aircraft's factory suspension characteristics and landing geometry with springs engineered to original specifications.

Technical Performance

The EFL Landing Gear Springs represent precision engineering designed specifically for the Timber and Timber Evolution 1.5m series. These springs form a critical part of the landing gear suspension system, working in conjunction with the landing gear assembly to absorb shock loads during touchdown and taxiing operations. The springs must maintain precise tension characteristics to support the weight distribution of your aircraft whilst allowing adequate suspension travel to cushion landing impacts. Over time, springs experience fatigue from repeated compression cycles, environmental exposure and the stresses of bush flying operations on unprepared surfaces. When spring tension diminishes, your aircraft's ride height changes, potentially affecting control input response and increasing stress on the fuselage and control linkages. E-flite engineers these springs from materials selected for durability and consistent performance across temperature ranges encountered in typical RC flight operations. Replacement springs restore the original suspension geometry, ensuring your landing gear absorbs impacts efficiently and your aircraft sits at the correct ride height for optimal handling characteristics. UK pilots flying their Timber aircraft frequently on rough airstrips benefit significantly from maintaining fresh springs in their maintenance schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often should I replace landing gear springs on my Timber aircraft? — Landing gear springs are wear items that deteriorate through normal flight operations. E-flite recommends keeping common wear items including springs in your flight box and replacing them when you notice reduced suspension performance, increased landing harshness, or visible spring damage. Frequency depends on your flight schedule and operating environment—pilots flying regularly on unprepared surfaces may need replacements more frequently than casual recreational fliers.
  • Will these springs fit both Timber and Timber Evolution 1.5m models? — These springs are designed for the Timber series aircraft. To ensure compatibility with your specific model, match parts to your aircraft's manual or product code. Our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop can confirm fitment for your particular Timber variant.
  • What is the difference between replacement landing gear springs and upgraded alternatives? — These are genuine E-flite factory springs engineered to original specifications. E-flite also offers upgraded landing gear assemblies for the Timber Evolution model (part EFL-1249 and EFL105254). Replacement springs restore your aircraft to factory condition, whilst upgraded gear assemblies may offer enhanced features or construction improvements.
  • Why is landing gear spring replacement considered essential maintenance? — Springs directly affect your aircraft's suspension performance, ride height and shock absorption. Weakened springs reduce impact protection, affect control response geometry, and increase stress on the fuselage and landing gear structure. Maintaining springs in good condition protects your entire aircraft and extends the service life of other components.
  • Can I mix and match different landing gear components with these springs? — These springs are part of the Timber landing gear system and work in conjunction with other landing gear components including the gear assembly and retainers. For optimal performance and reliability, use genuine E-flite components together. RC Model Shop also stocks the landing gear retainers (part EFL5267) and complete landing gear sets if you need additional components.
  • What other Timber spares should I keep stocked for regular flying? — E-flite's own maintenance guidance recommends keeping propellers, spare main landing gear and hinges in your flight box as common wear items. RC Model Shop stocks a comprehensive range including wheel sets (EFL5258), the complete landing gear assembly (EFL5257), spinners, cowlings, motor mounts, pushrods and hardware—everything needed to maintain your Timber in top flying condition.
