Overview
The BLH Tail Belt for the Blade Fusion 180 is an essential replacement component designed to keep your RC helicopter flying smoothly and reliably. Whether you're rebuilding after a crash, performing routine maintenance, or simply restocking your field box with spares, this genuine Blade part ensures your tail drive system operates at peak performance. The tail belt is a critical component in the power transmission system that drives your helicopter's tail rotor, and maintaining it in good condition is vital for precise tail control and vibration-free flight. As an RC enthusiast in the UK, having quality spares on hand means less downtime and more air time.
This tail belt is engineered to work seamlessly with the Blade Fusion 180, one of the most popular RC helicopters for pilots who demand reliability and performance. The Fusion 180 is a platform favoured by hobbyists and enthusiasts alike, and maintaining genuine Blade components ensures compatibility and longevity. Keeping spare tail components readily available is highly recommended by experienced RC pilots, as early replacement of worn items leads to superior tail hold and vibration-free flight characteristics that make the difference between a smooth, enjoyable flying session and a frustrating experience with sluggish tail response.
RC Model Shop stocks a comprehensive range of genuine Blade spares and upgrades for the Fusion 180, from crash-repair staples like main blades, tail blades, main shafts and feathering shafts, through to complete assemblies and electronics. Whether you're a seasoned RC helicopter pilot or building your spares collection for the first time, this tail belt represents an affordable investment in keeping your Fusion 180 in peak flying condition.
Key Features
- Genuine Blade Component — This is an authentic OEM part manufactured by Blade specifically for the Fusion 180, ensuring perfect fitment and reliability that you simply cannot guarantee with third-party alternatives or counterfeit items.
- Essential Drive System Component — The tail belt is a critical part of the tail rotor drive transmission, responsible for transferring power from the main gear to the tail shaft and rotor, making it absolutely vital for maintaining precise tail control authority and responsive directional input.
- Direct Replacement Part — Designed as a direct replacement for the original belt on your Fusion 180, installation is straightforward for anyone with basic RC helicopter maintenance skills, requiring no modifications or adaptations to fit correctly.
- Wears Over Time — Like all drive belts in mechanical systems, the tail belt gradually experiences wear through normal operation, and replacing it preventatively before it fails helps avoid unexpected mid-flight loss of tail control, which is one of the most common causes of helicopter crashes.
- Field Box Essential — Experienced RC pilots recommend keeping a spare tail belt in your field box alongside other critical components like main shafts, feathering shafts, and main gears, ensuring you can get back in the air quickly if your helicopter takes a tumble.
- Affordable Maintenance Solution — Tail belt replacement is one of the most cost-effective preventative maintenance steps you can take with your RC helicopter, helping extend the lifespan of more expensive components and keeping your helicopter flying reliably for years to come.
Technical Performance
The BLH Tail Belt is engineered with precision tolerances to match the exact specifications of the Blade Fusion 180's tail drive system. The belt interfaces with both the main gear/front belt pulley assembly (BLH5807) and the tail shaft with pulley (BLH5816) to create the gear reduction and power transmission necessary for smooth tail rotor operation. The Fusion 180 tail system is designed around a carefully calculated gear ratio that provides the tail servo with appropriate mechanical advantage whilst maintaining the responsiveness pilots expect from a modern RC helicopter platform. Blade's engineering ensures that this belt maintains consistent tension and engagement throughout the full range of tail rotor speeds, from neutral hold to full deflection in either direction. The belt material is selected to withstand the repetitive stress cycles of helicopter operation, including the vibrations inherent to rotary-wing aircraft and the dynamic loads created by tail servo adjustments during flight. Over time, belts gradually stretch and wear, particularly in helicopters that fly frequently or undergo hard landings and crashes. Regular inspection and timely replacement maintain the crisp tail response and steady hover characteristics that the Fusion 180 is known for, eliminating the sluggish or wandering tail behaviour that develops as belt wear increases.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How often should I replace the tail belt on my Fusion 180? — Tail belts should be inspected regularly during routine maintenance. If you notice signs of wear including fraying, cracks, or a glazed appearance, replacement is due immediately. As a general guide, frequent flyers or those who experience regular crashes should consider keeping a spare tail belt in their field box and replacing it preventatively every 20-30 flight hours or after any significant impact to the tail boom area.
- What are the signs that my tail belt needs replacing? — Common indicators include sluggish or unresponsive tail control during flight, a wandering or drifting tail rotor that requires constant correction from the tail servo, visible wear or damage when inspecting the belt, and reduced tail hold stability during hovers. If your Fusion 180's tail control feels less crisp than when new, belt replacement is often the solution.
- Is this part compatible with other Blade helicopter models? — This tail belt is specifically designed for the Blade Fusion 180 and will not fit other models. Always verify your helicopter model before ordering spares, as Blade produces multiple helicopter platforms with different mechanical specifications.
- How difficult is it to replace the tail belt myself? — Tail belt replacement is a moderate-difficulty maintenance task suitable for pilots with basic RC helicopter mechanical knowledge. The process typically involves removing the tail boom cover or case, loosening the mounting hardware to relieve belt tension, removing the old belt, installing the new belt, and carefully re-tensioning before reassembly. Most pilots can complete this task in 20-30 minutes with basic hand tools. If you're uncertain about any step, consult the Blade Fusion 180 instruction manual or seek guidance from experienced RC helicopter mechanics.
- Why should I buy genuine Blade parts instead of cheaper alternatives? — Genuine Blade components are engineered and manufactured to exact specifications for perfect fitment and reliability. Counterfeit or third-party belts may have slightly different dimensions or material properties that lead to poor fitment, slipping, premature wear, or even complete failure during flight. Given the relatively modest cost of this part compared to the price of your helicopter and the risks associated with in-flight mechanical failure, choosing genuine Blade parts is an investment in safety and reliability.
- What is the part number for this item? — The part number is Z-BLH5813, which identifies this as the authentic Blade tail belt for the Fusion 180 model.
