Overview

The BLH Main Shaft for the Blade 120 S is an essential replacement component for pilots and enthusiasts maintaining their RC helicopter in the UK. This genuine Blade spare part is designed specifically for the Blade 120 S model, one of the most popular compact RC helicopters available. Whether you're recovering from a crash, performing routine maintenance, or building a comprehensive crash kit, this main shaft is a critical wear item that ensures your helicopter continues to fly smoothly and reliably. The main shaft is the central rotating component that drives the main rotor system, making it one of the most important parts of your aircraft's drivetrain.

Keeping spare main shafts on hand is a smart investment for any serious RC helicopter enthusiast. The Blade 120 S is renowned for its durability and forgiving flight characteristics, making it an excellent choice for both beginners learning RC helicopter flight and experienced pilots looking for a reliable platform. By maintaining a small "crash kit" that includes main shafts, blades, and gears, you can minimise downtime and get back in the air quickly after any incident. This genuine Blade component ensures perfect compatibility and optimal performance with your aircraft.

At RC Model Shop, we stock a comprehensive range of Blade 120 S spares and upgrades, from essential crash-repair items to performance enhancements. Our dedicated Blade 120 S spares category includes everything from main blades and tail rotors to main gears, feathering spindles, swashplates, motors, batteries, and much more. Whether you need a replacement shaft today or you're planning ahead with spare parts, we're here to support your RC hobby with genuine products, expert advice, and competitive pricing.

Technical Performance

The BLH Main Shaft is precision-engineered to handle the demanding requirements of RC helicopter flight. As the central rotating component of the main rotor drive system, the main shaft must tolerate significant rotational forces and stresses whilst maintaining perfect alignment and balance. This genuine Blade component is manufactured from high-quality materials selected for durability and strength, ensuring it can withstand the rigours of regular flying and the occasional impact associated with RC helicopter operation. The main shaft connects the main motor to the main rotor head through the swashplate assembly, making it fundamental to your aircraft's ability to generate lift and maintain stable flight. Replacement becomes necessary when the shaft becomes bent or damaged through crashes, or when normal wear from extended flying seasons compromises its integrity. For the Blade 120 S platform specifically, this main shaft integrates seamlessly with the 120 S main motor, main rotor hub, feathering spindle, and associated linkage components to create a cohesive and reliable rotor system. The engineering tolerances are critical to ensure smooth rotation with minimal vibration, which directly impacts flight stability and control response.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why would I need to replace the main shaft on my Blade 120 S? — The main shaft is a critical rotating component that can become bent or damaged through crashes, or it may experience normal wear after extended flying. Replacement is necessary to restore smooth operation and ensure safe flight. A bent shaft will cause vibration and control problems that compromise flight stability.
  • Is the BLH Main Shaft suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is a straightforward replacement part that any RC helicopter pilot should consider having as a spare. Beginners especially benefit from keeping crash-kit components on hand, as learning to fly involves the occasional mishap. The genuine Blade part ensures perfect compatibility.
  • How often should I replace the main shaft? — Under normal flying conditions, the main shaft should last for many flight hours. However, any significant crash or impact may require immediate replacement. We recommend keeping a spare available so you're never grounded by a damaged shaft.
  • What is the difference between this and shafts for other Blade models? — The BLH4105 main shaft is specifically engineered for the Blade 120 S helicopter. Other Blade models like the 120 SR or 130X use different shaft components with different part numbers. Always verify you're ordering the correct part number for your specific model to ensure compatibility.
  • How do I know if my main shaft is damaged? — Signs of main shaft damage include excessive vibration during flight, difficulty maintaining stable hover, unusual sounds from the rotor head, or visible bending when you inspect the shaft directly. If you suspect damage, it's best to replace it before flying again to avoid further complications.
  • Can I use shafts from other manufacturers? — We recommend using genuine Blade components to ensure perfect fit, alignment, and reliability. Aftermarket or non-OEM shafts may have slightly different tolerances that could affect flight performance or component compatibility.
