Technical Performance
The BLH Main Gear is engineered with precision manufacturing standards to deliver consistent, reliable rotor performance in the mCP X BL brushless micro helicopter platform. As a critical drivetrain component, the main gear transmits power from the brushless motor to the main rotor head, and its condition directly affects flight stability, responsiveness, and efficiency. The gear teeth are machined to exacting tolerances to ensure perfect mesh with the pinion gear, which minimises backlash, reduces vibration, and optimises power delivery from the brushless motor system. Micro helicopters demand exceptional precision in their drivetrain components because even minor imperfections in gear alignment or tooth condition can result in noticeable vibration, reduced control responsiveness, or premature wear of associated components. The material composition and heat treatment of this genuine Blade gear ensures durability through extended flying sessions whilst maintaining the tight tolerances necessary for smooth operation. Regular inspection of main gears is recommended as part of routine maintenance, particularly after crash events or rough landings that may introduce micro-fractures or tooth damage. Replacing a worn or damaged main gear before it causes secondary damage to the swashplate assembly, linkages, or motor bearings represents smart preventative maintenance that extends the overall service life of your investment in brushless RC helicopter flying.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the BLH Main Gear compatible with all mCP X models? — This gear (Z-BLH3506) is designed specifically for the Blade mCP X BL brushless helicopter. The retailer notes that individual listings show compatibility details, so if you own an earlier brushed mCP X model, please verify compatibility before purchasing as this is engineered for the brushless platform.
- How often should I replace my main gear? — Main gears are wear items that should be inspected regularly and replaced when teeth show signs of damage, chipping, or excessive wear. After crash events, it's good practice to check the gear tooth condition, as impact damage may not be immediately visible. Expert technicians recommend keeping replacement gears in your crash kit to minimise downtime.
- What makes this gear different from aftermarket alternatives? — This is a genuine Blade component manufactured to original equipment specifications, ensuring perfect integration with your mCP X BL helicopter. OEM gears are engineered to precise tolerances for optimal mesh and performance, whereas aftermarket gears may introduce backlash, vibration, or compatibility issues that degrade flight quality.
- Do I need any special tools to install this main gear? — The BLH Main Gear is a straightforward replacement component that integrates into the main rotor head assembly. Most RC helicopter pilots can perform this replacement with basic RC tools, though consulting your helicopter's manual is recommended for detailed installation procedures and torque specifications.
- What's the best way to maintain my main gear? — After each flying session, visually inspect the gear teeth for damage or wear. After rebuilding your helicopter or replacing the main gear, check blade tracking and gear mesh for smooth, efficient performance. Use a small amount of threadlock on metal-to-metal fasteners to ensure components remain secure during flight.
- Should I buy multiple gears as spares? — Yes, expert advice recommends keeping a crash kit that includes multiple main gears alongside main blades, feathering shafts, and landing skids. This minimises downtime and keeps your micro heli flying without waiting for spare deliveries.
