Overview

The Axial Spring 13x62mm 1.3 lbs/in Soft Red (2) is a premium suspension component designed for RC enthusiasts who demand reliable performance and precise tuning capabilities. These soft springs are an essential upgrade for RC car UK enthusiasts looking to fine-tune their vehicle's suspension geometry and handling characteristics. Whether you're running a scale crawler, a rock racer, or any Axial-equipped RC model, quality springs are fundamental to achieving the exact ride height and compliance you need for optimal performance on any terrain.

This pair of replacement springs represents genuine Axial engineering, manufactured to exacting standards to ensure consistency and durability across countless runs and competitions. For both weekend bashers and serious racers, having the right spring rate is crucial for maintaining control, maximising traction, and extending the lifespan of your suspension components. The soft rating makes these springs ideal for situations where you need greater wheel compliance and shock absorption, particularly on rough or uneven terrain where softer suspension geometry translates to better traction and a more forgiving ride.

Axial has established itself as a leader in the RC vehicle market, and these springs are a testament to their commitment to quality and performance. If you're building or maintaining a ready to run RC model or modifying an existing setup, choosing the correct spring rate is one of the most impactful tuning decisions you can make. These red-coloured soft springs are colour-coded for easy identification and organisation in your spares box, ensuring you always know exactly which springs you're installing.

Key Features

  • 13mm Diameter — The 13mm diameter is a standard size across many Axial platforms, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of suspension designs and allowing for easy replacement or upgrade of your existing springs without requiring chassis modifications.
  • 62mm Length — The 62mm length is specifically engineered to work with Axial suspension geometry, providing the correct spring travel and deflection characteristics that keep your RC car performing exactly as intended by the designers.
  • 1.3 lbs/in Spring Rate (Soft) — The 1.3 lbs/in rating classifies these as soft springs, meaning they compress more easily than stiffer alternatives, offering superior wheel compliance and compliance on rough ground whilst maintaining structural integrity and consistent performance throughout their lifespan.
  • Red Colour Coding — The distinctive red colour makes these springs instantly recognisable in your spares collection, preventing mix-ups with other spring rates and making it simple to identify which springs are installed in your vehicle at a glance.
  • Pair of Two — You receive two springs in this package, which is the standard configuration for a single axle (typically the rear axle or front axle depending on your vehicle setup), ensuring you have a matched pair for balanced suspension geometry.
  • Genuine Axial Component — These are authentic Axial-manufactured parts, guaranteeing that the material composition, manufacturing tolerances and spring characteristics meet the original specifications and will integrate seamlessly with your Axial RC model.

Technical Performance

The Axial Spring 13x62mm 1.3 lbs/in represents sophisticated suspension engineering designed for the demanding world of RC vehicle performance. The 1.3 lbs/in spring rate is scientifically calculated to provide optimal compliance without sacrificing structural integrity or introducing unwanted oscillation into the suspension system. In practical terms, this soft rating means the springs will compress more readily under load, a characteristic that proves invaluable when navigating rocky terrain, crawling over obstacles, or maintaining traction on loose surfaces where maximum wheel contact is essential. The 62mm length has been precisely engineered to work within the specific suspension geometry of compatible Axial platforms, ensuring that the springs neither bind nor over-extend, maintaining consistent performance throughout their operational life. The 13mm diameter provides adequate load-bearing capacity whilst remaining light enough not to add unnecessary weight to your RC vehicle. Built from high-grade steel and manufactured to exacting tolerances, these springs deliver consistent performance run after run, season after season. Whether you're operating in the UK's variable weather conditions or taking your RC car on challenging terrain, these springs maintain their characteristics and reliability. The colour coding system employed by Axial across their spring range makes it straightforward to identify and organise your suspension components, a practical benefit that becomes increasingly valuable as your spares collection grows.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 1.3 lbs/in spring rate mean, and how does it compare to other Axial springs? — The 1.3 lbs/in rating indicates the force required to compress the spring by one inch. This is considered a soft rate, meaning these springs compress more easily than medium or hard alternatives. Softer springs allow your wheels to maintain better contact with uneven terrain, improving traction and providing a more compliant ride. If you need stiffer springs for different conditions, Axial offers various rates, with higher numbers indicating stiffer springs that compress less readily but provide more support under heavy loads.
  • Which Axial RC models are these springs compatible with? — These 13x62mm springs are designed to fit various Axial platforms, but compatibility depends on your specific model. We recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our team to confirm which Axial models use this spring size and rate. Installing incorrect springs can negatively impact handling and performance.
  • Should I replace both springs at the same time? — Yes, absolutely. Axial springs are sold in pairs for good reason: you should always replace springs as a matched set on each axle. Using mismatched springs with different rates or different levels of wear will create uneven suspension geometry, compromising handling and traction. Replacing both springs simultaneously ensures balanced performance across your entire vehicle.
  • How do I choose between soft, medium, and hard springs for my RC car? — Spring selection depends on your terrain and driving style. Soft springs (like this 1.3 lbs/in rating) excel on rough, rocky, or uneven terrain where wheel compliance is critical for maintaining traction. Medium springs provide a balance between compliance and support, whilst hard springs offer maximum load support for high-speed running or heavily weighted vehicles. If you're unsure, start with soft springs and adjust based on your specific conditions and feedback from your vehicle's handling.
  • Are these springs suitable for beginners? — These springs are suitable for any skill level, from beginners discovering the world of RC to experienced competitors fine-tuning their vehicles. However, beginners should understand that spring selection is a tuning parameter that affects how your vehicle handles. If you're new to RC, we recommend reading your vehicle's setup guide to ensure you're installing the correct spring rate for your specific model and terrain.
  • How often should I replace my RC springs? — Spring lifespan depends on usage frequency and conditions. With regular use and proper maintenance, quality Axial springs typically remain effective for many months or even years. However, if you notice changes in handling, reduced wheel compliance, or if your springs show visible damage or corrosion, replacement is advisable. Having spare springs on hand is a smart practice for any RC enthusiast.
