Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a servo horn and why do I need it for my SCX10 III? — A servo horn is the mechanical link between your radio receiver's servo motor and your RC car's steering linkage. It converts the servo's rotational movement into steering input for your crawler. The servo horn directly affects your steering response and precision, making quality components like this metal horn essential for reliable trail performance.
- Why choose a metal servo horn over plastic? — Metal servo horns offer significantly greater durability and impact resistance compared to plastic alternatives. In rock crawling and off-road applications, impacts with terrain are common. Metal horns resist damage far better, maintaining steering precision over time and reducing the need for frequent replacements, ultimately providing better value for serious RC hobbyists.
- Is this compatible with my Axial rock crawler? — This metal servo horn is specifically designed for SCX10 III models and is confirmed compatible with numerous Axial platforms including the RBX10 Ryft, SCX10 III Base Camp, SCX10 III Coyote, SCX10 III Toyota SR5, SCX10 III Jeep JT Gladiator, SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco, and SCX10 III Jeep CJ-7 among others. Check the compatibility list to confirm your specific model.
- What does the 23T specification mean? — The 23T designation refers to the servo horn's 23-tooth design. This tooth count is specifically calibrated for SCX10 III applications, providing the optimal balance between steering speed and torque. Different tooth counts offer different steering characteristics, so using the correct 23T horn ensures your SCX10 III performs as engineered.
- How difficult is it to install this servo horn? — Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic RC maintenance knowledge. The servo horn attaches to your servo spline using standard fastening methods. Most builders can complete installation in minutes using standard tools. Detailed instructions for your specific SCX10 III variant will guide you through the process.
- Is this a genuine Axial part? — Yes, this is an official Axial component with the part number Z-AXI231012, confirming its authenticity. Purchasing genuine Axial spare parts ensures compatibility, performance, and reliability. Avoid counterfeit components that may not fit properly or perform reliably.
