Overview
The Axial AX31009 2-Speed Hi Lo Servo Saver Set is an essential upgrade component for RC enthusiasts looking to enhance the durability and performance of their remote control vehicles. This precision-engineered servo saver set is designed to protect your servo from the shock and stress of aggressive driving, impacts, and high-torque demands that are common in competitive RC racing and recreational bashing. Whether you're piloting an RC car UK across challenging terrain or pushing your RC buggy to its limits on the track, this servo saver mechanism provides critical protection whilst maintaining responsive steering control.
Servo savers are a recognised essential upgrade in the RC hobby, particularly for drivers who demand maximum performance from their vehicles. The Axial servo saver set features a 2-speed hi-lo design, which means it provides dual engagement rates to suit different driving conditions and steering requirements. This sophisticated mechanism allows you to dial in the exact level of steering response your driving style demands, whether you need aggressive, responsive steering for racing applications or a more moderate engagement for general bashing and recreational driving. The set is manufactured by Axial, a trusted name in the RC industry known for quality components and innovative engineering.
If you're serious about protecting your servo investment and improving your RC experience, the Axial AX31009 represents genuine value for money. This is the type of component that separates hobby-grade setups from properly engineered, competition-capable RC cars. The 2-speed design ensures versatility across multiple vehicle types and driving scenarios, making it a smart addition to any RC enthusiast's spares box.
Key Features
- 2-Speed Hi Lo Design — This innovative dual-speed mechanism allows you to switch between two different engagement rates, giving you flexibility to optimise steering response for varying track conditions, driving styles, and RC vehicle types without needing to swap components.
- Servo Protection — The servo saver absorbs impact forces and shock loads that would otherwise be transmitted directly to your servo, significantly extending component lifespan and reducing the need for expensive servo replacements due to mechanical failure.
- Responsive Steering Control — Despite its protective function, this servo saver maintains crisp and accurate steering response, ensuring your RC car UK performs with precision during competitive racing or weekend bashing sessions.
- Precision Engineering — Manufactured by Axial using quality materials and tight tolerances, ensuring reliable operation across hundreds of hours of RC driving without mechanical degradation or inconsistent performance.
- Easy Installation — Designed as a drop-in upgrade component, the servo saver set integrates seamlessly with compatible Axial RC vehicles and other systems, requiring no modifications to your existing setup.
Technical Performance
The Axial AX31009 servo saver set represents precision engineering at its finest, combining durability with sophisticated functionality. The 2-speed hi-lo mechanism is engineered to manage the complex demands of modern RC driving, where servos must handle everything from gentle steering inputs during careful manoeuvring to violent shock loads when your RC vehicle makes contact with obstacles at high speed. The dual-speed design means you're not locked into a single engagement curve — instead, you can select the hi-speed mode for responsive track driving where quick steering inputs are essential, or switch to lo-speed mode for bashing scenarios where impact protection takes priority. This flexibility is what distinguishes this Axial component from single-rate servo savers. The set is built to exacting standards using quality materials selected for their durability and consistent performance characteristics. Whether you're running a 1/10 scale RC buggy, rock crawler, or short course truck, this servo saver integrates into your steering system to provide a crucial buffer between your servo and the demanding demands of RC driving. The engineering allows smooth engagement without sudden binding or hesitation, maintaining the precise steering geometry your vehicle requires for optimal handling. Quality construction ensures this component will withstand thousands of cycles of engagement and disengagement without wear or performance degradation.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What exactly does a servo saver do and why do I need one for my RC car? — A servo saver is a mechanical component that sits between your steering servo and the steering linkage. When your RC vehicle hits an obstacle or experiences sudden steering shock, the servo saver absorbs and dissipates that impact energy rather than allowing it to transfer directly to your servo. Without a servo saver, impacts can break servo gears, damage internal components, and cause expensive servo failures. The Axial AX31009 with its 2-speed design provides this protection whilst maintaining steering precision.
- What does the 2-speed hi-lo feature actually mean? — The 2-speed hi-lo design provides two different engagement rates. Hi-speed mode offers more responsive, direct steering feel suitable for racing and track driving where you need immediate steering response. Lo-speed mode provides softer engagement with more compliance, offering better shock absorption and protection — ideal for bashing, rock crawling, and rough terrain driving where impacts are more likely.
- Is this servo saver suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. In fact, beginners are often the drivers who benefit most from servo savers, as learning drivers tend to have less smooth steering inputs and are more likely to hit obstacles. Installing a servo saver early protects your servo investment and is a smart upgrade for any RC car UK setup regardless of skill level. The Axial AX31009 installs easily without special tools or technical knowledge.
- What RC vehicles is this servo saver compatible with? — The Axial AX31009 is designed for Axial RC vehicles and compatible systems. Compatibility varies depending on your specific vehicle model, so we recommend checking your vehicle's documentation or contacting our expert team to confirm this servo saver will work with your particular RC car. Our experienced staff at RC Model Shop can advise on compatibility and installation.
- How do I switch between hi-speed and lo-speed modes? — The 2-speed mechanism on the Axial AX31009 allows mode switching, though specific procedure details should be confirmed with your vehicle's manual or by consulting with our RC specialists. The design makes switching straightforward without requiring servo removal or complex adjustments.
- Will a servo saver affect my steering precision? — No — the Axial AX31009 is engineered specifically to protect your servo whilst maintaining crisp steering response. Quality servo savers actually improve overall steering consistency by preventing mechanical failures that would otherwise cause inconsistent behaviour.
