Overview

Fine-tune your Axial SCX10 II rock crawler's suspension performance with these genuine Axial Spring 12.5x20mm 3.6lbs in Super Soft Red. Whether you're a serious competition crawler, a weekend basher, or an RC car enthusiast looking to optimise your setup, suspension tuning is essential to getting the most out of your vehicle. These colour-coded springs are part of Axial's comprehensive range of suspension components designed to help your RC crawler perform at its absolute best across a variety of terrain and driving conditions. Choosing the right spring rate is crucial for maintaining consistent traction, improving ride comfort, and achieving better weight distribution across your axles.

The Super Soft Red springs offer a lower spring rate compared to medium or stiff alternatives, making them ideal for crawlers that need enhanced compliance over rough, uneven ground. This makes them particularly valuable for UK RC car enthusiasts who frequently tackle natural terrain, rock gardens, and technical obstacle courses where suspension flex is paramount. The 3.6 lbs/in spring rate provides the gentle, progressive support needed to keep your tyres in contact with the ground and maintain traction during technical climbs and descents.

These optional parts are supplied as a pair, allowing you to customise your front or rear suspension independently. The colour-coding system makes identification quick and easy, so you'll never mix up your spring rates during setup changes or maintenance. If you own an Axial SCX10 II in any configuration—whether it's the 1955 Ford F-100, 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Jeep Cherokee, Trail Honcho, or Raw Builders Kit—having a selection of spring rates on hand is a mark of a serious RC crawler owner.

Key Features

  • Super Soft Spring Rate (3.6 lbs/in) — The low spring constant means these springs compress more easily than stiffer alternatives, absorbing impacts and conforming to uneven surfaces while maintaining consistent wheel contact during technical climbing and descending.
  • 12.5x20mm Dimensions — These springs are precision-engineered to fit the Axial SCX10 II platform perfectly, ensuring proper suspension geometry and ride height for optimal performance without modification.
  • Colour-Coded Design (Red) — The distinctive red colour makes these springs instantly recognisable and prevents accidental mixing with other spring rates in your spares box or workshop, saving time during setup adjustments.
  • Supplied as a Pair — Two springs are included in this pack, allowing you to upgrade either the front or rear suspension, or to have matching springs on one axle for consistent handling characteristics.
  • Genuine Axial Part — Manufactured by Axial, these springs are engineered to the exact specifications required for SCX10 II models, ensuring perfect fitment and reliability without any compromise on quality.
  • Suspension Tuning Flexibility — By combining different spring rates front and rear, you can dial in your crawler's behaviour to suit your driving style, local terrain, and competition requirements.

Technical Performance

These genuine Axial springs are manufactured to exacting standards using high-quality materials engineered for durability and consistent performance. The 12.5x20mm format is the standard size for Axial SCX10 II suspension systems, and the 3.6 lbs/in spring rate places these firmly in the Super Soft category—ideal for crawlers prioritising maximum ground compliance and traction over rock gardens, stumps, and uneven natural terrain. The spring constant is measured in pounds-force per inch, meaning each inch of compression requires 3.6 pounds of force, resulting in a very responsive and forgiving suspension setup. This makes them particularly valuable in the UK RC crawling community, where competition courses frequently feature technical rock obstacles, elevated terrain, and demanding natural features that demand excellent wheel articulation. The colour-coding system (red for Super Soft) is consistent across Axial's spring range, allowing experienced crawlers to quickly identify and swap spring rates without confusion. These springs work in conjunction with Axial's shock absorbers and suspension geometry to deliver the precise handling characteristics needed for success in rock crawling disciplines.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What Axial SCX10 II models are these springs compatible with? — These springs are compatible with multiple Axial SCX10 II variants including the 1955 Ford F-100 4WD Truck (RTR and kit versions), the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited CRC Rock Crawler, the Jeep Cherokee 4WD Rock Crawler (both RTR and kit), the Trail Honcho 4WD Rock Crawler, and the Raw Builders Kit in both original and V2 versions. They also fit the UMG10 4WD Rock Crawler Kit. These springs can be used as replacement parts or optional upgrades on any of these models.
  • When should I use Super Soft springs on my rock crawler? — Super Soft springs are best used when you prioritise maximum wheel articulation and ground contact over rock obstacles, uneven terrain, and technical climbing sections. If you find your crawler bouncing excessively, losing traction on rough ground, or struggling to maintain contact over rocks and stumps, switching to softer springs will improve performance. They're also ideal if you frequently race on natural terrain courses common throughout the UK.
  • What spring rates are available in the Axial range? — Axial offers springs across a full spectrum from low rate through to high rate options, allowing you to customise your suspension precisely. The Super Soft (3.6 lbs/in) springs are at the softer end of this range. By experimenting with different spring rates on the front and rear axles, you can find the perfect balance for your specific driving style and local terrain characteristics.
  • Can I mix different spring rates front and rear? — Yes, absolutely. In fact, this is standard practice in rock crawling. Many competitive crawlers run softer springs on the front axle for maximum articulation during technical climbs, and stiffer springs on the rear for stability. These springs in the pack allow you to upgrade either end independently, giving you complete tuning flexibility.
  • How do I know if I need to change my springs? — If your crawler feels excessively stiff and bouncy, loses traction easily, or struggles to maintain wheel contact on obstacles, softer springs are worth trying. Conversely, if your suspension feels too loose and the vehicle wallows or leans excessively during cornering, stiffer springs may be needed. Spring selection is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to tune your crawler's performance.
  • Are these genuine Axial parts? — Yes, these are genuine Axial springs manufactured to the exact specifications required for SCX10 II compatibility, ensuring perfect fitment and reliable performance.
