Overview
The ARRMA Aluminum Servo Saver Hub Set Z-ARA340163 is a premium replacement chassis component designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand reliability and performance from their high-speed RC cars. Whether you're running a competitive 1/7 scale brushless machine or a weekend basher, this servo saver hub set represents a significant upgrade to your vehicle's steering system. ARRMA's engineering expertise shines through in this meticulously manufactured component, which combines lightweight aluminium construction with precision engineering to ensure your RC model performs at its best on track or terrain.
Servo savers are critical components in any RC car's steering assembly, acting as a shock absorber between your steering servo and the front wheels. They protect both your servo from impact damage and your chassis from binding during aggressive driving. This ARRMA-branded set is purpose-built for specific ARRMA models, ensuring perfect fitment and optimal performance characteristics. For UK RC car enthusiasts running ARRMA platforms, this is an essential spare part to keep on hand, particularly if you regularly compete or bash hard.
What sets this servo saver hub set apart is its innovative 'never loose' design philosophy. Unlike traditional servo savers that can gradually lose tension over time through vibration and repeated impacts, ARRMA's design maintains consistent servo saver tension indefinitely. This means your steering geometry remains locked in at the optimum setting, delivering consistent handling lap after lap, run after run. You won't need to continually adjust and readjust your servo saver tension as wear accumulates.
Key Features
- High-quality lightweight aluminium construction — The servo saver hub components are manufactured from premium-grade aluminium, which provides strength and durability whilst minimising added weight to your RC car's steering system. Aluminium's excellent strength-to-weight ratio means you get reliable performance without compromising on vehicle speed and responsiveness.
- Anodised ARRMA red finish — Beyond aesthetics, the anodised coating provides corrosion resistance and durability to the aluminium components, protecting them against moisture and wear. The distinctive ARRMA red colour also makes your RC car look factory-fresh and properly maintained.
- Precision manufactured threads — Every component features precision-engineered threads that guarantee smooth assembly and disassembly. Proper thread quality eliminates frustration during maintenance and ensures reliable engagement between components, eliminating cross-threading and binding that can occur with inferior manufacturing.
- 'Never loose' servo saver design — This is the standout feature that justifies choosing this set. The innovative design ensures that once you dial in your optimal servo saver tension, it will not gradually loosen through vibration and impact over repeated runs. This consistency is crucial for maintaining predictable steering feel and vehicle handling throughout extended bashing or racing sessions.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Aluminum Servo Saver Hub Set is engineered to exacting standards befitting a premium RC spare part manufacturer. The servo saver assembly comprises upper and lower hub components manufactured from lightweight but strong aluminium alloy, with precision threads cut to ISO standards for consistent engagement. The set includes shim components that allow fine-tuning of servo saver tension, whilst the included O-ring provides sealing and damping characteristics. The 'never loose' design employs a mechanical locking feature that prevents gradual tension loss under the vibration and impact loads experienced during high-speed RC car operation. This is particularly important for serious RC racers who demand consistency from their setups, and for bashers who subject their cars to rough handling. The anodised finish provides hard-coat protection against abrasion, moisture ingress, and oxidation. Build quality throughout reflects ARRMA's reputation as a manufacturer of competition-grade RC vehicles and spare parts for the serious enthusiast.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does a servo saver do on an RC car? — A servo saver is a mechanical device that sits between your steering servo and the steering linkage. When your RC car hits an obstacle or experiences sudden steering load, the servo saver absorbs and dampens these impacts rather than transmitting them directly to your servo gears. This protects your expensive servo from stripping gears or burning out internally, whilst also protecting the chassis from damage caused by steering system binding. The servo saver essentially acts as a shock absorber for your steering system.
- Why is the 'never loose' design important? — Standard servo savers can gradually lose tension over time due to vibration, impact loads, and repeated handling during use. This means drivers must continually re-adjust servo saver tension to maintain consistent steering feel. ARRMA's 'never loose' design incorporates a mechanical locking feature that prevents this gradual loosening, maintaining consistent tension indefinitely. This delivers predictable, consistent handling from run to run without requiring constant adjustment, which is crucial for competitive RC racing where consistency is key.
- Which ARRMA models are compatible with this servo saver hub set? — The Z-ARA340163 servo saver hub set is compatible with a range of ARRMA V4 platform models, including those designated ARA106040T1, ARA106040T2, ARA106042T1, ARA106042T2, ARA106044T1, ARA106044T2, ARA106046, and ARA106048. It's also compatible with the 1/7 scale ARRMA LIMITLESS 8S AVC 4×4 RTR models in both Red/Black and White/Blue colour schemes, as well as the ARRMA Typhon 6S V5 BLX. Check your specific model number against this compatibility list before ordering.
- Is this a difficult part to install? — Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic RC car maintenance experience. The precision-manufactured threads ensure smooth assembly without cross-threading or binding. The set includes all necessary components including shim and O-ring, and the design follows ARRMA's standard engineering practices. If you're comfortable performing basic RC car maintenance and adjustments, you'll have no issues installing this servo saver hub set. ARRMA documentation for your specific model should include installation guidance.
- Can I use this servo saver hub set as an upgrade to my existing servo saver? — Yes, this ARRMA part is an ideal replacement and upgrade for compatible models. The premium aluminium construction and 'never loose' design represent an improvement over some OEM servo saver designs. If your current servo saver is showing signs of wear, lost tension, or mechanical wear, upgrading to this ARRMA Aluminum Servo Saver Hub Set will restore and enhance your vehicle's steering performance.
- What maintenance does this servo saver hub set require? — Like all mechanical RC car components, periodic cleaning and inspection is recommended. After muddy or wet running sessions, rinse the component with fresh water and allow to dry completely. Inspect the O-ring periodically for cracks or degradation, and replace if necessary. The 'never loose' design minimises the need for regular tension adjustment, but you should periodically verify that tension remains at your preferred setting. Avoid over-tightening components during installation, as this can damage the precision threads.
