Overview
The ARRMA Shock Springs 49mm 1.85N/mm represent an essential suspension upgrade for anyone looking to fine-tune their RC car's handling characteristics. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend basher, or someone exploring the exciting world of RC vehicles for the first time, these precision-engineered shock springs offer the flexibility to adjust your vehicle's suspension setup in seconds. ARRMA is a recognised leader in the RC hobby, delivering high-quality components that meet the demands of serious enthusiasts across the UK and beyond. These springs are manufactured to exacting standards to ensure consistent performance across multiple vehicles and extended periods of use.
Shock spring selection is one of the most effective ways to tune your RC car's performance without requiring extensive mechanical knowledge or special tools. By swapping to different spring rates, you can adapt your vehicle to various track conditions, terrain types, and driving styles. The 49mm length and 1.85N/mm spring rate (equivalent to 10.56lb/in) make these springs suitable for a range of ARRMA 1/8 scale models, including the popular INFRACTION and VENDETTA ranges. Whether you're running a street bash truck, all-road platform or competition vehicle, having spare shock springs on hand ensures you're always ready to optimise your setup for peak performance.
For UK-based RC car enthusiasts, sourcing genuine ARRMA components from an authorised retailer guarantees authenticity and reliability. These shock springs come as a pair, so you can upgrade both front and rear suspension or have backups ready for your next race day or bashng session. The high-quality spring steel construction means these springs will maintain their performance characteristics through thousands of compressions and extensions, delivering long-lasting durability even under the most demanding driving conditions.
Key Features
- Precision manufactured spring steel construction — Each spring is manufactured from high-quality spring steel using precision engineering techniques, ensuring consistent performance across the pair and reliable durability throughout their service life. This attention to detail means you can trust these springs to perform predictably lap after lap, whether you're pushing hard on the track or exploring challenging terrain.
- 49mm length specification — The 49mm length is specifically designed to fit ARRMA 1/8 scale shock towers, ensuring perfect fitment and optimal suspension geometry. This precise dimension is critical for maintaining proper ride height and suspension travel, which directly impacts your vehicle's handling and stability.
- 1.85N/mm spring rate (10.56lb/in) — This medium spring rate offers a balanced approach to suspension tuning, providing enough support for stability whilst maintaining sufficient compliance for grip and traction. The dual measurement system (metric and imperial) caters to hobbyists worldwide and helps you identify compatible springs for comparison with other manufacturers' offerings.
- Supplied as a pair — Each purchase includes two shock springs, allowing you to upgrade both a front and rear shock or maintain complete sets for multiple vehicles. Having matched pairs ensures balanced suspension geometry and predictable handling across both axles.
- Quick suspension tuning capability — Swapping shock springs is one of the fastest ways to adjust your vehicle's suspension setup without requiring complex tools or technical expertise. In just seconds, you can transition from a softer setup for bumpy terrain to a stiffer configuration for smooth tarmac.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Shock Springs 49mm 1.85N/mm deliver impressive engineering in a compact package. Spring rate is a fundamental specification that directly influences your RC car's performance characteristics. The 1.85N/mm rate (10.56lb/in) sits in the medium range for 1/8 scale vehicles, making these springs versatile across multiple driving scenarios. The precise 49mm length ensures perfect compatibility with ARRMA 1/8 scale shock towers, maintaining correct suspension geometry and travel. The springs are manufactured from hardened spring steel, a material specifically selected for its ability to withstand repeated compression and extension cycles without losing its elastic properties. This is critically important in RC applications where shock springs can experience thousands of compression cycles during a single driving session. The precision manufacturing process ensures that both springs in the pair have identical rates, which is essential for balanced vehicle handling. When you compress the spring by one millimetre, it exerts a restoring force of 1.85 Newtons, providing predictable and repeatable suspension behaviour. UK-based RC enthusiasts will appreciate how easy it is to integrate these springs into existing setups, and the medium spring rate makes them suitable for drivers of various skill levels seeking to optimise their suspension without requiring extreme tuning parameters.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which ARRMA models are these shock springs compatible with? — These 49mm 1.85N/mm springs are listed as compatible with several ARRMA 1/8 scale models including the INFRACTION 223S DSC 4X4 RTR Brushless, INFRACTION 3S 4X4 RTR Brushless, INFRACTION 4X4 RTR Brushed, and VENDETTA 3S 4X4 RTR Brushless. However, fitment may extend to other ARRMA 1/8 scale models with similar shock tower dimensions. We recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our expert team to confirm compatibility with your specific model.
- How do I know which spring rate I need for my RC car? — Spring rate selection depends on several factors including your vehicle weight, driving style, terrain type, and track conditions. Softer springs (lower N/mm ratings) provide more compliance and grip on bumpy terrain, while stiffer springs (higher ratings) offer better support on smooth surfaces and during aggressive driving. The 1.85N/mm rate in this set offers a balanced middle ground suitable for most drivers and conditions. If you find your vehicle handling is too soft or too stiff, we can recommend alternative spring rates.
- Can I use these springs as replacements or do I need both together? — Whilst each purchase includes a pair, you can certainly use these springs individually as replacements if one spring becomes damaged or worn. However, for optimal handling and predictable suspension characteristics, ARRMA recommends using matched pairs front and rear. Having a spare set on hand is excellent practice for race days or extended bashng sessions.
- What is the difference between 1.85N/mm and other spring rates available? — Spring rates are measured in Newtons per millimetre (N/mm) or pounds per inch (lb/in). Lower rates (e.g., 1.5N/mm) are softer and better for bumpy conditions; higher rates (e.g., 2.5N/mm) are stiffer for smooth, high-grip surfaces. The 1.85N/mm rate represents a medium-stiffness option that suits diverse driving conditions and is an excellent choice for tuning without extreme adjustments.
- How long will these shock springs last? — The precision-manufactured spring steel used in these ARRMA springs is engineered for durability and consistency across thousands of compression cycles. With proper care and storage, these springs should provide reliable performance throughout a vehicle's operational life. Inspect them periodically for any visible damage or loss of shape, and replace if necessary to maintain optimal suspension performance.
- Do I need any special tools to install these shock springs? — Installing shock springs is straightforward and typically requires only basic RC tools such as a hex driver or Allen key to remove the shock tower screws. Once you've removed your existing springs, simply place the new springs in the same position and reassemble. The entire process takes just minutes, making this one of the quickest suspension modifications you can perform on an RC car UK-wide.
