Overview

The ARRMA Shock Springs 49mm 1.65N/mm (9.42lb/in) represent an essential suspension tuning component for RC enthusiasts across the UK looking to optimise their vehicle's handling characteristics. Whether you're running a ready to run RC truck or a competition-grade platform, these precision-engineered shock springs allow you to dial in the perfect suspension setup in seconds, transforming how your RC car performs on the track or bashing terrain. ARRMA is a recognised leader in the RC industry, and these OEM shock springs deliver the same quality and reliability you'd expect from a manufacturer committed to excellence.

Suspension tuning is one of the most effective ways to improve your RC car's performance without major modifications. By swapping shock springs, you can adjust your vehicle's ride height, corner attitude, and overall handling balance to suit different track conditions, driving styles, or terrain types. These 49mm shock springs with a spring rate of 1.65N/mm (9.42lb/in) are direct replacements or tuning upgrades for compatible ARRMA models, making them ideal for serious hobbyists, weekend bashers, and competitive racers alike who want to extract maximum performance from their RC setup.

Manufactured to precise specifications, these shock springs are engineered to work seamlessly with ARRMA's suspension geometry, ensuring consistent and predictable handling improvements across a wide range of driving conditions. If you've ever wondered how to fine-tune your RC car's suspension without purchasing an entirely new platform, shock spring upgrades like these offer a straightforward, cost-effective solution that delivers genuine performance gains.

Key Features

  • Precision Manufactured Spring Steel — These shock springs are manufactured from high-quality spring steel using precision engineering techniques, which ensures they maintain consistent performance over extended use and deliver reliable, predictable suspension behaviour every time you take your RC car out on the track or terrain.
  • 49mm Length Specification — The 49mm length is engineered to work with ARRMA's suspension architecture, providing the correct ride height and suspension travel for optimal weight transfer and vehicle balance during acceleration, braking, and cornering.
  • 1.65N/mm Spring Rate (9.42lb/in) — This medium spring rate offers a balanced approach to suspension tuning, providing adequate support for various driving conditions whilst maintaining enough compliance to absorb bumps and maintain traction on uneven surfaces, making it suitable for both street bash and all-road driving styles.
  • Long-Lasting Durability — The precision manufacturing and quality spring steel construction means these shock springs are built to withstand hundreds of charge cycles, countless bashes, and intense racing without losing their spring characteristics or becoming permanently deformed.
  • Pair of Two Springs Included — This package includes a matched pair of shock springs, allowing you to replace both front or rear springs simultaneously and maintain balanced suspension geometry across your RC vehicle.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Shock Springs deliver consistent suspension performance through meticulous engineering and material selection. At 49mm in length with a spring rate of 1.65N/mm (equivalent to 9.42lb/in in imperial measurement), these springs provide an ideal balance between compliance and support for ARRMA's suspension platforms. The precision manufacturing process ensures that both springs in the pair have identical characteristics, which is crucial for maintaining balanced handling when both front or rear shocks are fitted with matching springs. Spring steel is the industry standard for RC shock springs because it provides reliable elasticity, resists permanent deformation from repeated compression and extension cycles, and maintains its performance characteristics over the lifespan of the suspension assembly. The 1.65N/mm rate sits in the medium range of the spring tuning spectrum, making it suitable for drivers who want responsive handling without excessive harshness on rough terrain. Whether you're running the ARRMA INFRACTION 4X4 range, including the 1/8 scale INFRACTION 223S DSC models or the 3S brushless variants, these springs have been engineered to work within the suspension geometry of these proven platforms, delivering the handling improvements you'd expect from an OEM tuning component.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which ARRMA models are these shock springs compatible with? — These 49mm shock springs are designed to fit ARRMA's 1/8 scale models, including the INFRACTION 4X4 range (both the INFRACTION 223S DSC 4X4 RTR Brushless model and the INFRACTION 3S 4X4 RTR Brushless model) and the VENDETTA 3S 4X4 RTR Brushless. They are listed as either standard parts or optional tuning parts for these vehicles, depending on the specific model variant you own.
  • What spring rate should I choose for my driving style? — The 1.65N/mm spring rate in this set is considered a medium-rate option suitable for versatile driving across different terrains. If your ARRMA model feels too soft or bouncy, stiffer springs will reduce body roll and improve cornering stability. If the vehicle feels too stiff and harsh over bumps, softer springs will improve traction and comfort. These springs are ideal for drivers who haven't yet committed to a specific tuning direction and want a capable all-around setup.
  • Are these genuine ARRMA parts? — Yes, these are OEM ARRMA shock springs with the official ARRMA part number ARA330771. When you purchase from RC Model Shop, you're buying genuine manufacturer components that have been engineered specifically for ARRMA vehicles, ensuring perfect fitment and performance.
  • How often should I replace my shock springs? — Shock springs don't wear out in the traditional sense, but they can lose their spring characteristics over years of use if exposed to extreme temperatures or heavy bashing. Most RC enthusiasts use the same springs indefinitely unless they choose to upgrade to a different spring rate for handling tuning. If your suspension feels less responsive than it used to, replacing the springs is a worthwhile maintenance step.
  • Can I mix different spring rates on my RC car? — Whilst technically possible, mixing spring rates (for example, softer springs at the front and stiffer springs at the rear) is an advanced tuning technique that should only be attempted after you understand how your vehicle responds to suspension changes. For beginners and standard tuning, always use matched spring rates front and rear to maintain balanced handling.
  • Do I need any special tools to replace my shock springs? — Shock spring replacement is straightforward and requires only basic RC tools. You'll need to remove your shock absorber from the vehicle (typically requiring a hex driver or wrench), then use a shock spring compressor tool to compress the old spring, remove it, and install the new spring. Shock spring compressor tools are inexpensive and are essential for safe spring replacement.
