Overview

The ARRMA 31T 0.8Mod 1/8 inch Bore CNC Steel Pinion Gear Z-ARA311093 is a precision-engineered replacement pinion gear designed for ARRMA RC vehicles and compatible 1/8 scale RC cars. This is an essential upgrade or replacement component for serious RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand reliability and performance from their electric RC buggies, trucks and bashers. Whether you're maintaining your existing ARRMA RC car setup or fine-tuning your gearing for optimal performance, this CNC-machined steel pinion gear delivers the durability and precision fit that competitive RC racing and weekend bashing require.

Pinion gears are critical drivetrain components that transfer power from your brushless motor to the main transmission, directly affecting acceleration, top speed and overall performance. The 31-tooth configuration of this gear makes it an ideal choice for drivers seeking a balance between acceleration and top-end speed, offering versatility across different driving conditions and track layouts. As a replacement or upgrade gear for your RC car UK setup, this component is manufactured to ARRMA's exacting standards and will integrate seamlessly with ARRMA transmission systems.

RC enthusiasts across the United Kingdom rely on quality pinion gears like this one to maintain consistent performance from their electric RC vehicles. From competitive racers to casual bashers, choosing genuine ARRMA components ensures compatibility, longevity and the performance characteristics your RC car was designed to deliver. This CNC steel pinion gear represents a cost-effective way to maintain your RC car in peak condition or optimise your gearing configuration for your specific driving style.

Key Features

  • 31-Tooth Configuration — The 31-tooth count provides an excellent mid-range gearing option that balances acceleration with top speed, making this pinion gear suitable for diverse driving scenarios from track racing to off-road bashing with your 1/8 scale RC vehicle.
  • CNC Steel Construction — Precision CNC-machined from hardened steel, this pinion gear offers superior durability and wear resistance compared to plastic alternatives, ensuring consistent performance over extended use and multiple driving sessions with your RC car.
  • 0.8 Module Specification — The 0.8 module pitch ensures perfect meshing with compatible ARRMA spur gears and transmission components, maintaining smooth power delivery and minimising noise and vibration in your RC drivetrain system.
  • 1/8 Inch Bore (3.2mm) — The precisely machined 3.2mm bore diameter fits securely onto standard 1/8 scale motor shafts used in ARRMA RC vehicles, providing reliable engagement and preventing slippage under heavy acceleration or high-load conditions.
  • Drop-In Replacement — This gear is designed as a direct replacement for OEM ARRMA pinion gears, making it easy to upgrade or maintain your RC car without requiring additional modifications or compatibility adjustments to your existing setup.
  • Race-Proven Design — ARRMA's engineering expertise ensures this pinion gear has been tested in competitive RC racing environments, making it a trusted choice for UK RC racers and hobbyists who demand performance-grade components.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA 31T 0.8Mod CNC Steel Pinion Gear represents the pinnacle of precision RC drivetrain engineering. Manufactured from hardened steel using advanced CNC machining processes, this component delivers the exact tolerances required for seamless integration with ARRMA transmission systems. The 31-tooth count sits in the sweet spot of the ARRMA pinion gear range, offering flexibility for drivers who want to optimise their RC car's performance characteristics without committing to extreme high-acceleration or top-speed configurations. The 0.8 module specification ensures compatibility with the entire ecosystem of ARRMA 0.8 module spur gears, allowing you to fine-tune your gearing strategy by experimenting with different tooth counts. With a 3.2mm bore diameter precisely machined to automotive-grade tolerances, this pinion gear grips securely onto motor shafts while remaining easy to install and remove when you need to adjust your RC car's gearing. The steel construction provides exceptional resistance to the wear, tooth chipping and deformation that can occur with plastic gears, particularly in high-powered brushless RC setups running on 3S, 4S or higher LiPo batteries. This makes it an ideal choice for 1/8 scale RC buggies, truggies and short course trucks used in competitive racing or demanding off-road conditions. Whether you're running a modified brushless motor with a high-KV rating or a more conservative setup, this pinion gear handles the demands of contemporary RC driving with reliability and precision.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ARRMA RC cars does this 31T pinion gear fit? — This 31T 0.8Mod pinion gear with 3.2mm bore is compatible with ARRMA 1/8 scale vehicles that use standard 0.8 module gearing, including ARRMA buggies, truggies and truck models. Check your vehicle's documentation to confirm compatibility with your specific ARRMA RC car model before purchasing.
  • How does pinion gear tooth count affect my RC car's performance? — Pinion gear tooth count directly influences your RC car's acceleration and top speed characteristics. The 31-tooth configuration offers balanced performance, providing decent acceleration whilst maintaining reasonable top-end speed. Lower tooth counts (like 19T or 21T) increase top speed but reduce acceleration, whilst higher tooth counts (like 30T or 32T) improve acceleration at the cost of lower maximum velocity. Experimenting with different pinion gear tooth counts allows you to optimise your RC car's performance for your specific track or terrain.
  • Is the 0.8 module specification important? — Yes, the 0.8 module specification is critical for compatibility. Module refers to the gear pitch, and mixing different module gears will result in poor mesh, increased noise, vibration, and potential drivetrain damage. This 0.8Mod pinion gear must be paired with 0.8 module spur gears for proper operation of your RC car's transmission system.
  • Why choose steel over plastic pinion gears? — Steel pinion gears offer significantly superior durability, especially in high-powered RC setups. They resist tooth wear, chipping and deformation far better than plastic alternatives, maintaining consistent performance over many driving sessions. If you run a brushless motor with high-KV power or frequently bash your RC car hard, a steel pinion gear is a worthwhile investment that will outlast multiple plastic replacements.
  • Can I use this pinion gear as an upgrade to my existing ARRMA RC car? — Yes, if your ARRMA vehicle originally came with a plastic pinion gear, upgrading to this CNC steel version will improve durability and reliability. Simply remove the old gear from your motor shaft and install this new one, ensuring the bore fits snugly without excessive play.
  • What size is the 1/8 inch bore in millimetres? — The 1/8 inch bore measures exactly 3.2mm in diameter, which is the standard motor shaft size for 1/8 scale RC vehicle motors. This provides a secure fit on compatible ARRMA brushless and brushed motors.
