Overview

The ARRMA 20T 0.8Mod 1/8 inch Bore CNC Steel Pinion Gear (Z-ARA311082) is a precision-engineered replacement component designed specifically for high-performance 1/8 scale RC cars and buggies. This tough steel pinion gear is the ideal upgrade or replacement part for ARRMA RC vehicles, delivering the reliability and durability demanded by serious hobbyists across the UK. Whether you're a weekend basher pushing your RC car to the limit or a competitive racer chasing lap times, having the correct replacement pinion gear on hand ensures your vehicle stays in peak condition.

ARRMA is renowned throughout the RC community for manufacturing robust, competition-grade components, and this 20-tooth pinion gear exemplifies that commitment to quality. The CNC precision manufacturing process ensures perfect tooth profiles for smooth, efficient power transmission from your motor to the drivetrain. If you're looking for a direct replacement pinion gear for your 1/8 scale ARRMA RC buggy or truck, or if you're experimenting with gear ratios to fine-tune your vehicle's performance, this steel pinion offers the strength and precision you need. RC enthusiasts across the UK trust ARRMA components to deliver consistent performance in extreme RC conditions.

This is a genuine ARRMA component manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring compatibility with ARRMA 1/8 scale platforms. The 0.8 modulus tooth profile works seamlessly with matching spur gears on your RC vehicle, providing reliable acceleration and top-end performance characteristics. Stock a spare, experiment with different gear ratios, or simply maintain your RC car UK collection with this essential drivetrain component.

Key Features

  • CNC Precision Manufacturing — This pinion gear is manufactured using advanced CNC (Computer Numerical Control) technology, which ensures that every tooth is cut to exact specifications with micrometre-level accuracy, delivering smooth engagement with your spur gear and eliminating drivetrain inefficiency or noise.
  • Strong Steel Construction — Manufactured from tough, hardened steel rather than softer materials, this pinion gear resists wear, deformation and tooth stripping even under extreme RC racing conditions, extending the service life of your drivetrain and protecting your expensive motor and gearbox.
  • 0.8 Modulus Tooth Profile — The 0.8 modulus specification defines the tooth size and pitch, ensuring perfect mechanical compatibility with matching ARRMA spur gears and ensuring efficient power transmission without slippage or binding.
  • 1/8 Inch Motor Shaft Bore — The precisely manufactured bore accommodates a standard 1/8 inch (3.175mm) motor shaft, making this pinion gear compatible with most ARRMA brushless and brushed motors designed for 1/8 scale vehicles.
  • Set Screw Hole — A precision-drilled set screw hole allows secure fastening to your motor shaft using an M3 x 4mm set screw (included), preventing slippage during acceleration and maintaining consistent gear ratio performance.
  • 20-Tooth Configuration — The 20-tooth count provides a specific gear ratio relationship with your spur gear, influencing your vehicle's acceleration characteristics and top speed, making this ideal for tuners seeking to optimise performance.
  • Direct ARRMA Replacement — This is a genuine ARRMA replacement part designed to directly substitute for factory pinion gears, ensuring guaranteed fitment and maintaining your vehicle's original performance envelope.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA 20T 0.8Mod pinion gear is engineered from hardened steel to withstand the demands of high-powered brushless motors commonly found in 1/8 scale RC buggies and trucks. The CNC manufacturing process guarantees precision tooth geometry that ensures smooth, quiet meshing with your spur gear, minimising power loss through the drivetrain and reducing wear on both components. The 1/8 inch (3.175mm) bore is standard for ARRMA 1/8 scale motors, providing a secure fit when paired with the included M3 x 4mm set screw. With 20 teeth and a 0.8 modulus specification, this pinion works in conjunction with various spur gear tooth counts to achieve different acceleration and top-speed characteristics. For example, a smaller-tooth pinion paired with a larger-tooth spur provides more aggressive acceleration and higher top speed, whilst a larger-tooth pinion offers quicker throttle response at lower speeds. The steel construction ensures durability through thousands of starts, stops, and maximum-throttle runs, making this an essential spare component for any serious ARRMA RC vehicle owner in the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What scale RC vehicle does this pinion gear fit? — This is a 1/8 scale pinion gear designed specifically for ARRMA 1/8 scale RC buggies, trucks and other vehicles. The 1/8 inch motor shaft bore is the standard size for 1/8 scale brushless and brushed motors used in high-performance RC cars across the UK.
  • How do I install this pinion gear? — Simply slide the gear onto your motor shaft, aligning the bore with the shaft, then tighten the included M3 x 4mm set screw into the precision-drilled hole to lock the gear in place. Ensure the screw is firmly tightened to prevent the gear from slipping under acceleration.
  • Is this a direct replacement for my ARRMA RC car? — Yes, this is a genuine ARRMA component designed as a direct replacement pinion gear for ARRMA 1/8 scale vehicles. However, always verify your current pinion tooth count and modulus before ordering to ensure compatibility with your spur gear.
  • What is the difference between 0.8 and 1.0 modulus gears? — Modulus refers to the tooth size and pitch. A 0.8 modulus gear has slightly smaller teeth spaced closer together than a 1.0 modulus gear. You must match your pinion modulus to your spur gear modulus for proper operation; they cannot be mixed.
  • How often should I replace my pinion gear? — With proper maintenance and lubrication, a CNC steel pinion gear will last thousands of running hours. Replace it if you notice worn teeth, damage, or if the gear begins slipping on the motor shaft. Many RC enthusiasts keep spare pinions to quickly swap different tooth counts for gear ratio tuning.
  • Can I use this pinion with a non-ARRMA motor? — As long as your motor has a 1/8 inch (3.175mm) shaft and accepts a 0.8 modulus gear, this pinion should fit. However, ARRMA components are designed and tested for use with ARRMA vehicles, so compatibility with non-ARRMA equipment is not guaranteed.
