Overview
The LOGIC Futaba Extension Lead (HD) 500mm is an essential accessory for any RC enthusiast using Futaba-type servo connections. Whether you're building a high-performance RC car in the UK, setting up an RC aircraft, or configuring a helicopter, this heavy-duty extension lead provides the extra routing flexibility you need to position servos, receivers, and other components exactly where they belong in your model. At 500mm (50cm) in length, this extension lead strikes the perfect balance between manoeuvrability and practical reach, making it ideal for medium to large-scale RC projects where standard servo leads simply won't stretch far enough.
Built with professional-grade materials and construction, the LOGIC Futaba Extension Lead represents the quality standards expected by serious RC hobbyists. The heavy-duty construction ensures reliable signal and power delivery even in demanding racing conditions or outdoor bashing sessions. Whether you're a seasoned competitor fine-tuning a precision race setup, a weekend basher pushing your ready-to-run RC through rough terrain, or someone discovering the world of RC for the first time, this extension lead is a versatile component that will serve you well across multiple builds and applications.
RC Model Shop stocks this proven accessory because it addresses a real need in the RC community: the requirement for dependable, quality extension leads that maintain signal integrity and can handle the rigours of active use. For anyone building custom RC vehicles, upgrading servo routing on existing models, or simply needing spare extension leads for their RC collection, this 500mm heavy-duty lead is a reliable, cost-effective solution.
Key Features
- 500mm length — This extended length provides substantial routing flexibility, allowing you to position servos further from your receiver and manage cable runs more effectively across larger chassis or fuselages without signal degradation.
- Heavy-duty construction — The robust build quality ensures this lead can withstand repeated connections, disconnections, and the vibrations inherent in active RC use, whether you're running a brushless RC car at high speed or flying an RC aircraft.
- Gold-plated connections — Gold-plating on the connectors provides superior conductivity and corrosion resistance compared to standard plating, ensuring consistent electrical performance over many years of use and protecting against oxidation in damp UK weather conditions.
- High-quality mouldings — Precision-moulded connector housings prevent internal contact wear and ensure perfectly aligned connections every time, reducing the risk of signal dropout during critical moments in flight or driving.
- High-quality wire — The extension lead uses premium-grade wire throughout, designed to minimise resistance and maintain clean signal transmission for smooth, responsive servo control in your RC car, boat, helicopter, or aircraft.
- Futaba-type compatibility — This lead is designed specifically for all Futaba-type plugs, one of the most widely-used servo connector standards in the RC industry, making it compatible with countless receivers, servos, and components across numerous RC platforms.
Technical Performance
The LOGIC Futaba Extension Lead (HD) 500mm exemplifies what professional RC builders look for in a quality extension lead. The heavy-duty wire gauge and construction are specifically engineered to handle the current demands of modern servo systems without voltage sag, ensuring your control surfaces respond with precision whether you're operating in a competitive racing environment or casual bashing scenario. The gold-plated connections are not merely cosmetic—they provide measurably better electrical contact than standard connectors, which is particularly important when daisy-chaining multiple servos or running extended cable runs that can accumulate resistance. The high-quality mouldings protect the internal contact pins from debris and damage, a critical consideration for RC vehicles used outdoors in UK conditions where moisture and dirt are common challenges. This 500mm length positions the lead in the sweet spot for most applications: long enough to reach servos on opposite sides of medium to large-scale RC chassis or aircraft frames, yet short enough to maintain manoeuvrability and organisation in tight mounting spaces. The extension lead maintains full compatibility with Futaba-type receivers and servos, making it a universal solution for RC enthusiasts building custom setups or upgrading existing models with improved cable routing.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a Futaba-type extension lead and why do I need one? — A Futaba-type extension lead allows you to extend the distance between your receiver and servo systems, providing the routing flexibility needed for proper cable management and optimal component positioning in your RC vehicle. If your standard servo leads are too short to reach where you need to place servos or other receiver-connected components, an extension lead solves this problem while maintaining full signal integrity.
- Is this extension lead suitable for all my RC servos? — This extension lead is compatible with all Futaba-type plugs, which are among the most widely-used servo connectors in RC. Check that your receiver and servos use Futaba-type connectors (also called standard J-type connectors) rather than Spektrum or other proprietary types before purchasing.
- What does heavy-duty construction mean in practical terms? — Heavy-duty construction refers to thicker, higher-quality wire gauge and more robust connector mouldings designed to withstand repeated use, vibration, and environmental stress. This means the lead will maintain reliable connections over many years of active use without degradation, whether you're running a high-speed brushless RC car or flying an RC aircraft.
- Why are gold-plated connections better than standard connectors? — Gold plating provides superior electrical conductivity and dramatically increases corrosion resistance compared to standard brass or nickel-plated connectors. In the context of RC use, this means cleaner signal transmission and longer connector lifespan, particularly important if your models are used outdoors in UK weather conditions where moisture can cause oxidation.
- How do I choose the right extension lead length? — The 500mm length is ideal for most medium to large-scale RC applications. If you need shorter routing (under 300mm), consider the 100mm, 200mm, or 300mm options available. For larger aircraft or vehicles requiring even longer runs, LOGIC offers 750mm and 1000mm options. The 500mm strikes an excellent balance for most custom RC builds.
- Can I use multiple extension leads in series? — While technically possible, daisy-chaining multiple extension leads can introduce cumulative resistance and increase the risk of signal issues, particularly with longer total cable runs. For very long distances, a single longer extension lead is preferable to multiple shorter leads connected end-to-end.
- Is this extension lead suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is an excellent component for beginners and experienced builders alike. It's a straightforward accessory with no complex installation—simply plug it into your receiver and servo, and you're ready to go. There are no special skills or tools required.
