Whether you're running a competition-grade RC buggy or a weekend basher, having the correct programming tools ensures your receiver operates at peak performance and reliability.
Key Features
- USB Programming Interface — Connects directly to your PC or laptop via USB, allowing you to download and install firmware updates for your AS3X receiver without needing a compatible Spektrum transmitter on hand. This is particularly valuable if you're testing receivers or working with backup equipment.
- AS3X Compatible — Specifically engineered for Spektrum's advanced AS3X stabilisation system, this cable gives you access to multiple downloadable AS3X setup configurations that can be loaded directly onto your receiver. This opens up professional-grade tuning options that dramatically improve stability and handling characteristics across different driving conditions.
- Extended Cable Length — The approximately 48-inch cable provides generous reach to receiver connectors, making it significantly easier to connect your receiver without disassembly or awkward positioning. This length is particularly helpful when working with integrated receiver installations or when your receiver is mounted in difficult-to-access locations.
- Downloadable Setup Library — Access a selection of pre-configured AS3X setups that are optimised for different driving styles and RC vehicle types. These profiles can be downloaded and transferred directly to your receiver, allowing you to quickly experiment with different stabilisation characteristics without manual configuration.
- Reliable Spektrum Quality — Manufactured by Spektrum, a recognised leader in RC radio systems and receiver technology, this interface meets the same quality standards as their transmitters and receivers, ensuring reliable communication and data transfer between your computer and receiver.
Technical Performance
The SPM USB-Interface represents a straightforward but essential piece of RC support equipment. With a cable length of approximately 48 inches, it provides ample reach for working with receivers in virtually any RC vehicle installation, from tightly packed 1/10 scale buggies to larger basher trucks and crawlers. The USB connection ensures reliable data transfer at speeds compatible with firmware updates and configuration uploads, whilst the interface itself remains compact and portable for use in workshops, at the track or during field maintenance sessions. The cable's length is particularly advantageous when working with receivers that have been permanently mounted in vehicles, as it eliminates the need for complete disassembly just to perform programming tasks. This tool is engineered specifically for the AS3X receiver platform, meaning every aspect of the interface has been optimised for seamless compatibility with Spektrum's advanced three-axis gyro stabilisation system.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What makes the SPM USB-Interface better than programming through my transmitter? — The USB interface allows you to update firmware and modify AS3X settings directly from your computer, without requiring a compatible Spektrum transmitter. This is essential if you're a shop owner, technician, or enthusiast who needs to programme multiple receivers or test equipment independently. It also means you can access updates even if your transmitter is out of range or if you don't own one yet.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst this tool is primarily designed for users who already understand AS3X receiver systems and want direct programming access, it's not overly complex to use. The instruction manual provides clear guidance, and the USB connection is straightforward. However, if you're just starting with RC vehicles, you may not need this interface initially—most receivers ship with basic configurations and can be tuned through your transmitter. This is more of a tool for intermediate to advanced users who want professional-level control.
- What do I need to use this programmer? — You'll need a PC or laptop with a USB port and the appropriate Spektrum software for firmware updates (downloadable from Spektrum's website). You'll also need a Spektrum AS3X receiver and suitable power source to keep your receiver powered during programming. The interface itself handles the connection between your computer and the receiver—no additional hardware is required.
- Does this work with all Spektrum receivers? — No, this interface is specifically designed for AS3X equipped receivers. If you have a standard receiver without the AS3X gyro stabilisation system, this programmer won't be compatible. Check your receiver documentation to confirm AS3X support before purchasing.
- What operating systems are supported? — This interface does not support Mac (OS X). It is designed for Windows PCs and laptops running compatible Windows operating systems. If you're a Mac user, you'll need to either use a Windows machine for programming or work with your transmitter's built-in programming features if available.
- What is the cable length and why does it matter? — The cable measures approximately 48 inches, which is significantly longer than most RC programming cables. This extended length means you can programme your receiver without removing it from your RC vehicle, or can access receivers installed in tight spaces without complete disassembly. It's a practical feature that saves time and reduces the risk of damaging sensitive equipment during installation and removal.
- Can I use this to recover a receiver with corrupted firmware? — Yes, firmware updates delivered through the USB interface can often recover receivers with corrupted or problematic firmware. This makes the programmer a valuable troubleshooting and recovery tool for anyone working with multiple Spektrum receivers or managing a small RC shop or fleet.
