Why is the Castle P-CC10500 ideal for 600 class helis and 1/4 scale aircraft?

The Castle P-CC10500 high-voltage ESC for 600 class helis and 1/4 scale fixed-wing aircraft is built to meet the power and control demands of mid-to-large scale platforms. With a continuous current rating of 80 amps and support for 3S to 12S LiPo batteries, this ESC delivers sustained performance across a wide voltage range. Its compact dimensions—71.9mm in length, 50.8mm in width, and 23.2mm in depth—make it suitable for installations where space and airflow are limited. Weighing just 124.6g with wires, the Castle P-CC10500 offers a lightweight solution without compromising durability or thermal management.

How does telemetry support improve flight safety and system awareness?

Telemetry is a critical feature for pilots operating high-performance aircraft, and the Castle ESC for 3S–12S LiPo setups with no internal BEC and full telemetry compatibility provides robust support for real-time data feedback. When paired with Castle Telemetry Link modules for S.BUS2 or X-BUS systems, users can monitor ESC temperature, input voltage, and receiver battery status during flight. Audible alerts and flashing LED patterns provide immediate feedback on system health, helping prevent unexpected shutdowns and allowing pilots to respond to faults before they escalate. This integration enhances situational awareness and supports safer, more informed flying.

What can the AUX wire do for advanced flight control?

The Phoenix Edge 80HV ESC with RPM output, governor gain input, and arming lockout key features a white AUX wire that unlocks multiple advanced functions. Pilots can use it to adjust helicopter governor gain mid-flight, output RPM data to compatible gyros, or activate an audible beacon after an unexpected landing. The AUX wire also supports ESC arming lockout, enhancing safety during setup and transport. When connected to a receiver channel programmed as an arm lock switch, the ESC will not arm until the channel signal exceeds 50%, preventing accidental activation and ensuring controlled startup procedures.

How does data logging enhance post-flight analysis?

Data logging is a powerful diagnostic tool, and the Castle P-CC10500 programmable ESC with data logging, AUX wire, and Castle Link USB access captures key flight metrics such as RPM, voltage, and current draw. These logs can be reviewed using Castle Link software, allowing users to identify inefficiencies, diagnose faults, and fine-tune throttle curves or governor settings. The ability to store and analyze flight data is especially valuable for competitive pilots and engineers who require precise control over every aspect of their aircraft’s behavior. This feature turns every flight into a learning opportunity for performance optimization.

What programming options are available for the Castle P-CC10500?

Configuration flexibility is a hallmark of the Castle programmable ESC with 50.4V max voltage, no BEC, and Castle Link USB access. Users can program the ESC using the Castle Link USB adapter (included via coupon) and the Castle Link Windows software. For mobile access, the ESC is compatible with the Castle Link iOS App and B-Link Bluetooth Adapter. These tools allow pilots to adjust throttle response, AUX wire behavior, and telemetry parameters. Firmware updates are available at no charge, and users can save multiple setup profiles for different aircraft. Manual programming via transmitter stick is also supported for basic adjustments.

Is the Castle P-CC10500 suitable for aggressive flight profiles?

Absolutely. The Castle P-CC10500 Phoenix Edge 80HV ESC with 80A continuous rating, 12S max input, and telemetry support is optimized for both aerobatic fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft in the 600 class range. Its compact form factor and lightweight design make it easy to install in tight fuselage compartments, while its high-voltage capacity ensures consistent power delivery during aggressive maneuvers. Frequently Asked Questions

  • What helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft sizes is the Phoenix Edge 80 HV suitable for? — Castle Creations designs the Phoenix Edge 80 HV specifically for helicopters in the 450 to 800 size range and fixed-wing aircraft of 1.20 size and larger. These size classifications refer to the fuselage length and overall model dimensions; if you're unsure whether your specific aircraft falls into this category, we recommend contacting our team at RC Model Shop for guidance on compatibility.
  • What battery voltage range does this ESC support? — The Phoenix Edge 80 HV supports 3S through 12S LiPo batteries, meaning you can use batteries from 11.1 volts (3S) up to 50.4 volts (12S), giving you tremendous flexibility in matching battery voltage to your aircraft's motor and power requirements.
  • Is the Phoenix Edge 80 HV suitable for beginners? — This ESC is designed for experienced RC pilots who demand advanced features and capabilities; the programmable auxiliary wire, data logging, and telemetry functions assume a working knowledge of RC systems and helicopter or fixed-wing flight control. Beginners might find the feature set overwhelming, though those willing to learn will discover a genuinely powerful and flexible platform.
  • Can I use this ESC with my existing governor system? — Yes; the auxiliary wire can be configured to accept governor gain input signals, allowing you to adjust your helicopter's governor response in flight, which is particularly valuable for pilots flying aggressively or in variable wind conditions.
  • What makes the programmable auxiliary wire different from standard ESCs? — Most ESCs offer fixed functionality; the Phoenix Edge's user-programmable auxiliary wire can be configured for multiple different functions—governor input, beacon output, RPM output, or arming lock—meaning you can tailor the ESC to your specific aircraft's requirements rather than being constrained by the manufacturer's predetermined function set.
  • Does this ESC have a built-in BEC for powering my receiver? — No; the Phoenix Edge 80 HV has no internal BEC, which actually provides a significant advantage: it ensures complete electrical isolation between the power system and receiver, eliminating potential noise and interference that can sometimes affect receiver performance in high-current installations.
  • How does the data logging feature help me improve my flying? — The integrated data logger records flight metrics throughout your flight session; by reviewing this data post-flight, you can identify patterns, understand how voltage sag affects your aircraft's performance, monitor temperature behaviour, and make informed tuning decisions to optimise your setup for your flying style and conditions.
  • What is the difference between this and other Castle ESCs? — The Phoenix Edge 80 HV represents Castle's flagship technology, introducing the revolutionary user-programmable auxiliary wire, comprehensive data logging, and industry-leading software functionality that distinguishes it from earlier ESC generations and competitive offerings from other manufacturers.
  • Do I need the Castle Link USB adapter separately? — Yes; the Castle Link USB adapter is sold separately and is required if you wish to programme the ESC via computer, access firmware updates, or retrieve and analyse your logged flight data. This adapter is highly recommended for anyone seeking to maximise the ESC's capabilities.
