Overview
The EFL 60-120 Left Main Wire Strut (F-EFLG402) is an essential replacement or upgrade component for large-scale RC aircraft projects, designed specifically for models in the 60cc to 120cc equivalent power range. This precision-engineered strut is a genuine E-flite product, manufactured to the exacting standards that have made E-flite the trusted choice for RC pilots across the UK and beyond. Whether you're building a scale warbird, a high-performance sport flyer, or restoring a damaged airframe, this left main wire strut provides the structural support and reliability your landing gear system demands.
Wire struts are fundamental components of retractable landing gear systems for RC aircraft. They connect the main retract unit to the wheel assembly, transmitting the extension and retraction forces while maintaining perfect alignment during landing and take-off cycles. For larger aircraft models operating in the 60-120 size class, choosing the correct strut is critical to ensuring smooth gear operation, safe landings and consistent performance flight after flight. The F-EFLG402 is engineered to match the mounting footprint, leg diameter and load rating of E-flite's 60-120 retract systems, making it the perfect replacement when upgrading or repairing your aircraft.
RC Model Shop stocks this component as part of our comprehensive range of retractable landing gear parts and accessories. We understand that serious RC flyers and scale builders need reliable, authentic components they can trust. This left main wire strut is available for rapid UK dispatch, helping you get back in the air sooner whether you're undertaking planned maintenance or emergency repairs to your prized model aircraft.
Key Features
- Designed for 60-120 Size Aircraft — This strut is engineered specifically for the larger RC aircraft models in the 60cc to 120cc power class, ensuring proper weight distribution and load handling during retraction cycles and landing operations.
- Left Main Configuration — This is the left main gear strut, meaning it mounts to the left side of your aircraft's fuselage and supports the left main wheel assembly as part of a complete tricycle landing gear arrangement.
- Genuine E-flite Component — Manufactured by E-flite, a market-leading brand for electric and nitro-powered RC aircraft, this strut meets the same quality standards and precision tolerances as the complete retract units it's designed to work with.
- Wire Construction — The wire strut design provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio, critical for maintaining the performance and handling characteristics of your scale model, whilst offering durability through countless landing cycles.
- Replacement and Upgrade Part — Whether your existing strut has become damaged, bent or worn, or you're upgrading to a new retract system, this component integrates seamlessly with E-flite's 60-120 main retract units and associated gear hardware.
- Compatible with E-flite Retract Systems — This strut is designed to work with E-flite's range of main retract units in the 60-120 size category, allowing you to mix and match components or build complete new retract assemblies.
Technical Performance
The EFL 60-120 Left Main Wire Strut is engineered from robust materials capable of handling the substantial forces generated during retraction cycles and landing impacts on larger RC aircraft. The wire strut design minimises weight whilst maximising rigidity, a critical balance for maintaining the aerodynamic efficiency and handling of scale models in this power class. The strut must align perfectly with the retract actuator and wheel assembly, ensuring smooth extension and retraction operation under all flight conditions. E-flite's engineering process ensures that this component matches the exact specifications and tolerances of their 60-120 retract systems, meaning you can rely on consistent performance whether you're conducting high-speed approaches or executing precision landings. The wire construction provides excellent fatigue resistance, absorbing the repeated stress cycles of deployment and retraction without permanent deformation. For builders and pilots working with composite or wood-and-fabric airframes in this size category, this strut provides the precision interface between the motorised retract mechanism and the landing gear assembly. The component integrates with E-flite's range of 60-120 nose retract units, adjustable axles, and other gear accessories, allowing you to assemble complete, reliable retract systems tailored to your specific aircraft design.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the EFL 60-120 Left Main Wire Strut compatible with all E-flite retract systems? — This strut is engineered specifically for E-flite's 60-120 size main retract units. It will not fit smaller size classes (10-15, 15-25, 25-46) which use different mounting geometries and pin diameters. Always verify that your main retract unit is rated for the 60-120 size class before ordering.
- What aircraft models use 60-120 size landing gear? — The 60-120 size class includes large-scale RC aircraft such as high-performance warbirds, aerobatic models, and sophisticated scale replicas typically powered by 60cc to 120cc petrol engines or equivalent brushless electric power systems. Examples include large P-51 Mustang replicas, Spitfire models, and other advanced RC aircraft requiring substantial structural support.
- Can I use the left main strut on the right side of my aircraft? — No. The left main strut is specifically engineered for left-side installation. E-flite also manufactures a right main wire strut (F-EFLG403) for the opposite side. Using the correct strut for each side ensures proper alignment and prevents binding or misalignment during retraction cycles.
- What should I do if my original strut is damaged? — If your existing strut is bent, cracked or otherwise damaged, replacement is the recommended solution. Attempting to straighten or repair a damaged strut risks improper alignment and potential gear malfunction during critical flight phases. This replacement part ensures your retract system functions reliably.
- How does the wire strut connect to the retract unit and wheel assembly? — The wire strut provides the mechanical linkage between the motorised retract actuator and the wheel assembly. It transmits the extension and retraction forces whilst maintaining precise alignment. The strut mounts to the retract unit at one end and connects to the adjustable axles and wheel assembly at the other end.
- Is this strut suitable for beginner aircraft builders? — This component is part of a sophisticated retractable landing gear system suitable for advanced RC builders and pilots working with high-end scale models. Installation requires experience with RC aircraft construction and proper understanding of gear alignment and operation. If you're new to RC aircraft, consider starting with simpler fixed landing gear systems.
