Overview
The ARRMA Heavy-Duty Input Gear 17T is a precision-engineered transmission component designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand the absolute best in durability and performance. This replacement gear combines cutting-edge hybrid construction with superior engineering to deliver the strength and reliability needed for high-performance RC cars and trucks. Whether you're running an ARRMA 1/10 Monster Truck, Short Course Truck, or 1/8 Buggy, this heavy-duty input gear is engineered to withstand the extreme stresses of aggressive driving, racing, and challenging terrain.
As a dedicated RC car UK enthusiast, you understand that transmission components endure some of the most demanding forces in your vehicle. The input gear is critical to power delivery, and any weakness here can lead to catastrophic failure and costly repairs. The ARRMA Heavy-Duty Input Gear 17T eliminates this concern by combining a precision-molded composite gear with a strong, stiff steel input spline, creating one incredibly resilient hybrid component. This is the perfect upgrade for anyone looking to fortify their ready to run RC vehicle or competition-grade build.
Available in the UK through authorised retailers like RC Model Shop, this genuine ARRMA component is backed by the manufacturer's reputation for quality and performance. If you're investing in a high-end RC buggy, monster truck, or short course vehicle, protecting that investment with premium replacement parts like this heavy-duty input gear is simply smart maintenance and upgrade strategy.
Key Features
- Hybrid Construction Design — This innovative component combines a precision-molded composite gear with a strong and stiff steel input spline, creating a single unified part that leverages the best properties of both materials, ensuring exceptional strength where it matters most.
- Precision Molded Composite Gear — The input gear is manufactured from high-quality durable composite material through precision molding techniques, delivering consistent quality and performance while remaining lighter than solid steel alternatives.
- Steel Input Shaft — The input spline is constructed from strong, stiff steel, providing the durability and rigidity required to handle extreme torque loads without deflection or wear, ensuring long-term reliability even under intense racing conditions.
- Integrated One-Piece Design — Rather than using separate components assembled together, this gear is molded as a single integrated unit, eliminating potential failure points where components might separate under stress.
- OEM Compatibility — This genuine ARRMA part is specifically designed as a drop-in replacement for multiple ARRMA vehicle models including the 1/10 Granite 4X4, Senton 4X4, and 1/8 Typhon 4X4, making installation straightforward for users familiar with their vehicles.
- 17-Tooth Configuration — The 17-tooth design provides the optimal balance of torque multiplication and input speed for standard ARRMA transmission systems, ensuring smooth power delivery across acceleration and top-end performance.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Heavy-Duty Input Gear 17T represents a significant advancement in transmission component engineering for high-performance RC vehicles. By combining a precision-molded composite gear with a steel input shaft, ARRMA has created a hybrid component that addresses the limitations of purely composite or purely steel designs. The composite gear material is durable and cost-effective, while the steel input spline provides the ultimate in strength and resistance to deflection under load. This engineering approach is particularly valuable for brushless RC car owners in the UK who are pushing their vehicles to the limits, as brushless motors deliver enormous amounts of torque that can stress inferior transmission components. The 17-tooth configuration is standard for ARRMA transmission systems and has been proven through extensive testing and real-world use by RC racing competitors and weekend bashers alike. This component is engineered to handle the extreme forces generated by rapid acceleration, high-speed running, aggressive off-road driving, and competitive racing. The precision molding process ensures tight tolerances and consistent mesh with the mating gears in your transmission, promoting smooth engagement and reducing vibration during operation. Whether you're replacing a worn original component or upgrading as preventative maintenance, this heavy-duty gear represents the pinnacle of ARRMA transmission engineering.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles is the ARRMA Heavy-Duty Input Gear 17T compatible with? — This genuine ARRMA component is designed as a replacement part for several ARRMA models including the 1/10 Granite 4X4 RTR, the 1/10 Senton 4X4 RTR Short Course Truck, and the 1/8 Typhon 4X4 RTR Buggy. Always verify compatibility with your specific model before ordering.
- Why should I upgrade to a heavy-duty input gear? — Standard composite gears can wear or break under extreme stress, particularly when running brushless motors with high torque output. The heavy-duty hybrid construction of this gear combines the cost-effectiveness and weight savings of composite with the ultimate durability of steel, making it an excellent insurance policy against transmission failure during critical races or challenging terrain.
- Is this gear suitable for stock vehicle usage or only for modified builds? — This heavy-duty gear is an optional upgrade for ARRMA vehicles and provides enhanced durability compared to standard components. While perfect for high-performance builds, modified vehicles, and competitive racing, it's also a worthwhile preventative upgrade for any serious RC enthusiast who wants maximum reliability.
- How does the hybrid construction compare to all-composite or all-steel alternatives? — The hybrid design is superior to purely composite gears because the steel input spline resists deflection and wear far better, whilst remaining lighter and more cost-effective than a fully steel gear. This represents the optimal balance of strength, weight, and value for high-performance RC vehicles.
- What is the tooth count and why does it matter? — This is a 17-tooth input gear, which is the standard configuration for ARRMA transmission systems. The tooth count determines the gear ratio and therefore affects acceleration response and top speed characteristics of your vehicle.
- How do I know when my input gear needs replacement? — Signs of wear include grinding noises from the transmission, delayed acceleration response, or visible damage to the gear teeth. Preventative replacement is recommended for any serious RC competitor or high-performance enthusiast.
