Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a 4mm bullet to Tamiya charge lead used for? — This charge lead is used to connect your RC battery charger to your RC vehicle's ESC (electronic speed controller) for safe, efficient charging. The 4mm bullet connectors attach to your charger, whilst the Tamiya male connector plugs directly into your RC car's main power input, providing a secure electrical interface that prevents accidental disconnection during the charging process.
- Is the Radient Charge Lead suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. This is an essential piece of equipment for anyone new to RC hobbies in the UK, whether you're running a ready to run RC car or building a custom setup. The simple connector design and compact length make it easy to use safely, and it's the kind of accessory that every RC enthusiast should have as part of their basic charging equipment.
- What makes 14AWG wire gauge important for RC charging? — The 14AWG specification means the wire is thick enough to safely carry typical RC battery charging currents without overheating or introducing significant voltage drop. This ensures your batteries charge efficiently and safely, whilst protecting your charger and ESC from potential damage caused by undersized wiring that could generate excessive heat.
- Can I use this lead with any RC car? — As long as your RC car features a Tamiya connector on the ESC and your charger has 4mm bullet connectors, this lead will work perfectly. This includes the vast majority of modern RC buggies, trucks, crawlers, and touring cars available in the UK market, making it one of the most universally compatible charging leads you can buy.
- How long is the Radient Charge Lead and why does length matter? — At 150mm, this lead is specifically designed for compact bench setups where cable management is important. The short length prevents excessive coiling of wire, which can generate heat during charging and makes your charging station look disorganised. This is the ideal length for typical RC charging stations where your charger and vehicle are positioned relatively close together.
- What is the difference between 4mm bullets and other connector types? — 4mm bullet connectors are one of the most common connector types in the RC hobby and offer excellent current-carrying capacity in a compact package. They're easy to connect and disconnect, and they provide a secure mechanical fit that resists accidental separation during charging operations, which is critical for safe battery charging.
