Overview

The Axial 15 x 24 x 5mm Ball Bearing (2) is an essential replacement component for RC enthusiasts maintaining their vehicles in the UK. This pair of precision ball bearings is designed to deliver smooth, reliable rotation in critical areas of your RC model, whether you're running an Axial SCX6 Jeep JLU Wrangler, a Trail Honcho rock crawler, or other compatible RC vehicles. With a customer rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars, these bearings have proven themselves in the field as trustworthy replacement parts for serious RC car builders and bashers alike.

Ball bearings are fundamental components in any RC car, serving as the crucial interface between rotating shafts and chassis components. The 15 x 24 x 5mm specification indicates a 15mm inner diameter, 24mm outer diameter, and 5mm width, making these bearings ideal for front or rear hub applications in scale models and rock crawlers. Whether you're upgrading a worn-out bearing, building a custom RC setup, or restocking your spare parts box, this genuine Axial product ensures you maintain the performance and longevity your RC crawler or adventure vehicle demands.

For UK RC car enthusiasts and competitive racers, having quality replacement bearings on hand is part of responsible model ownership. The Axial brand is recognised throughout the RC hobby for producing durable, precision-engineered components that integrate seamlessly with their vehicle range. These ball bearings come in a convenient two-pack, giving you both the immediate replacement you need and a spare for future maintenance or building projects.

Key Features

  • Precision Ball Bearing Design — These are high-quality ball bearings that provide smooth, low-friction rotation, which is essential for maintaining the responsive handling and consistent performance of your RC vehicle, whether it's a rock crawler navigating technical terrain or a high-speed basher on open ground.
  • Compatible with Axial Models — Specifically designed as replacement parts for Axial SCX6 vehicles including the Jeep JLU Wrangler 4x4 Rock Crawler RTR and the Trail Honcho 4x4 Rock Crawler RTR, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance when you replace worn or damaged bearings.
  • Two-Pack Quantity — The pack includes two complete ball bearings, making this ideal whether you need to replace a single bearing immediately or want to keep a spare on hand for when wear eventually requires maintenance on the opposing wheel hub.
  • Verified Quality with Customer Reviews — With a 4.3 out of 5 customer rating, these bearings have been tested and approved by real RC enthusiasts, giving you confidence in their reliability and performance before you install them in your model.
  • Genuine Axial Manufacturing — Being official Axial parts, you can be certain these bearings are manufactured to the exact specifications required by your RC model, ensuring compatibility and performance that third-party alternatives simply cannot match.
  • Essential Replacement Component — Over time and through regular use, ball bearings in RC vehicles experience wear from dirt, moisture, and constant rotation, making replacement bearings like these a vital part of your maintenance and upkeep routine.

Technical Performance

The 15 x 24 x 5mm ball bearing specifications represent a critical dimension class used extensively in mid-sized RC rock crawlers and adventure vehicles. Ball bearings operate on the principle of rolling contact, where hardened steel balls roll between an inner race (the 15mm diameter component) and an outer race (the 24mm diameter component) separated by a 5mm width. This design minimises friction compared to sliding contact, which translates directly to improved efficiency, reduced power draw, and better overall vehicle responsiveness. The bearing width of 5mm is precisely calculated to provide adequate load-bearing capacity whilst remaining compact enough for integration into the hub assemblies of modern RC vehicles like the Axial SCX6 platform. These bearings are engineered to withstand the lateral loads experienced during cornering, the vertical loads from suspension compression, and the rotational forces generated by the wheels throughout a typical driving session. The precision manufacturing tolerances ensure minimal play between components, which is critical for maintaining the geometric accuracy of your vehicle's suspension geometry and steering response. For RC car builders in the UK who demand consistency and reliability, these OEM Axial bearings represent the gold standard for replacement components, offering the same engineering quality found in factory-built RTR models.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When should I replace the ball bearings in my RC car? — Ball bearings should be replaced when you notice grinding sounds, excessive play in the wheel hubs, or a loss of smooth rotation. Regular inspection during maintenance, especially after running in wet or dusty conditions, will help you identify worn bearings before they affect your vehicle's performance. Many RC enthusiasts replace their bearings annually or after every 30-40 hours of running time.
  • Are these bearings suitable for both rock crawlers and high-speed RC cars? — Yes, the 15 x 24 x 5mm specification is used across a range of Axial models, from the famous SCX6 rock crawlers to other adventure vehicles. These bearings are designed to handle both the slow, technical driving of rock crawling and the faster speeds of trail running, making them versatile components for various RC enthusiasts.
  • What is the difference between these Axial ball bearings and aftermarket alternatives? — Genuine Axial ball bearings are manufactured to exact OEM specifications, ensuring perfect compatibility with your vehicle's hub assemblies and maintaining the suspension geometry Axial engineers designed. Aftermarket bearings may have slightly different tolerances, which can introduce play or binding, potentially affecting handling and increasing wear on other components.
  • How do I install these ball bearings in my RC vehicle? — Installation typically requires removing the wheel hub assembly, pressing out the worn bearing, and pressing in the replacement bearing using a bearing press or appropriate tools. Consult your specific Axial model's manual for detailed installation instructions, as different vehicles may have slightly different procedures. If you're unsure, visiting an experienced RC hobby shop in the UK for professional installation is always a good option.
  • Do these bearings require any special maintenance or lubrication? — Quality ball bearings benefit from appropriate bearing lubrication to reduce friction and protect against corrosion, especially in wet conditions common in UK climate. After bearing replacement, apply a light bearing grease to the races to ensure long-term performance and protection.
  • Will these bearings fit my specific Axial model? — These bearings are compatible with the Axial SCX6 Jeep JLU Wrangler 4x4 Rock Crawler RTR and the Axial SCX6 Trail Honcho 4x4 Rock Crawler RTR. If you own a different Axial model, we recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our team to confirm compatibility before ordering.
