Overview

The Traxxas Steering Blocks Left & Right TRX7737X are essential replacement chassis components designed for the legendary Traxxas X-Maxx 4WD brushless monster truck range. Whether you're a seasoned RC enthusiast running a high-performance brushless RC truck in the UK or a weekend basher pushing your X-Maxx to its limits, steering blocks are critical wear items that take tremendous punishment during aggressive driving. These genuine Traxxas OEM parts ensure your X-Maxx maintains precise steering geometry and responsive handling characteristics that the X-Maxx is famous for.

Steering blocks are the mounting points where your suspension links and steering components attach to the chassis, making them fundamental to your truck's alignment, turning response and overall handling dynamics. The X-Maxx's massive brushless power and 8S LiPo capability means it generates enormous forces through the steering system, making quality replacement blocks essential for anyone serious about keeping their rig in top condition. These left and right steering blocks come as a pair and are designed to restore factory specifications when your current blocks show signs of wear, damage or looseness that compromises steering accuracy.

Available at RC Model Shop, these Traxxas steering blocks offer peace of mind that you're installing genuine, manufacturer-approved components rather than inferior aftermarket alternatives. The X-Maxx is one of the most capable brushless RC monster trucks available in the UK market, and maintaining it with authentic Traxxas parts ensures you continue to enjoy reliable, responsive steering performance whether you're bashing in the garden, at the track or exploring rough terrain.

Key Features

  • Genuine Traxxas OEM Components — These steering blocks are manufactured by Traxxas to exact specifications, guaranteeing they fit perfectly with your X-Maxx chassis and maintain the precise geometry your truck was engineered with, which directly impacts steering response, cornering speed and overall handling predictability.
  • Left and Right Pair Included — You receive both left and right steering blocks in this pack, allowing you to replace wear and damage on both sides of your truck simultaneously, which is important for maintaining balanced steering characteristics and preventing handling inconsistencies that occur when blocks are worn unevenly.
  • Compatible with Multiple X-Maxx Variants — These blocks work with the X-Maxx Belted 4WD Brushless RTR in all available colours (red, green, orange and blue), as well as the X-Maxx Ultimate variants and the X-Monster chassis, making them versatile replacement parts for several Traxxas truck platforms.
  • Requires 20x32x7mm Ball Bearings — The steering blocks utilise industry-standard 20x32x7mm ball bearings for smooth, responsive steering input, and replacement bearings are readily available separately, allowing you to refresh the bearing cartridges if needed to restore original steering feel and eliminate play.
  • Restores Steering Precision — When steering blocks wear or crack, they introduce play into the steering linkages that makes the truck difficult to steer accurately and responsively, particularly noticeable during aggressive cornering or high-speed manoeuvres where precise inputs are critical to maintaining control.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas X-Maxx is an extraordinarily powerful 1/7 scale 4WD brushless monster truck capable of delivering devastating acceleration from its 3660 brushless motor, running on 8S LiPo batteries and producing speeds that demand exceptional mechanical components throughout the chassis. The steering system is engineered to handle the immense lateral forces and rapid directional changes required when piloting such a capable machine at full throttle. The steering blocks form the critical interface between your suspension control arms and the chassis, translating inputs from your servo into precise wheel angle adjustments. Over time and with heavy use, these components experience cumulative wear as the suspension articulates, impacts transfer through the frame, and aggressive steering inputs cycle the linkages thousands of times. The 20x32x7mm ball bearings that mount inside these blocks require smooth, undamaged bores to rotate freely, so worn or cracked blocks will directly compromise your steering smoothness even if the bearings themselves remain serviceable. Traxxas manufactures these blocks to maintain the X-Maxx's legendary handling characteristics, ensuring that when you replace worn components with genuine parts, you're restoring the precise steering geometry that makes the X-Maxx one of the most controllable brushless RC trucks available in the UK market today. Whether you're running in 2WD or 4WD mode, maintaining proper steering block condition is non-negotiable for safe, predictable truck behaviour.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these steering blocks compatible with my Traxxas X-Maxx? — Yes, the TRX7737X blocks are designed for the X-Maxx Belted 4WD Brushless RTR in all colours (red, green, orange, blue), the X-Maxx Ultimate variants, and the X-Monster chassis. Check your model number against the compatibility list to confirm, but if you own any variant of the X-Maxx or X-Monster, these are the correct replacement blocks.
  • What ball bearings do I need for these steering blocks? — These blocks require 20x32x7mm ball bearings, which are standard automotive-grade sealed bearings. Traxxas supplies matching black rubber sealed bearings (TRX5827) which are ideal as they offer excellent durability and weather resistance for UK outdoor use, and the rubber seals prevent dirt and water ingress during wet conditions or muddy terrain.
  • How often do steering blocks need replacing? — Steering blocks are wear items whose longevity depends entirely on your driving style and conditions. Aggressive bash driving with frequent high-speed cornering and hard impacts will wear them faster than casual use. You should inspect them if your steering feels loose or unresponsive, if you notice visible cracks or breaks, or after major impacts. Most serious bashers replace them as routine maintenance every 12-24 months.
  • What happens if my steering blocks are damaged? — Damaged or excessively worn blocks introduce play into your steering system, making the truck feel mushy or unresponsive to your radio inputs, and the bearings may experience binding or uneven wear if the block bores are damaged. For maximum brushless RC performance from your powerful X-Maxx, you need tight, responsive steering, which is impossible with worn blocks.
  • Can I use non-Traxxas blocks on my X-Maxx? — Whilst aftermarket alternatives exist, genuine Traxxas OEM blocks are engineered to exact specifications for perfect fit and performance. Aftermarket blocks may introduce tolerances that cause misalignment or poor steering feel. For a truck as capable and expensive as the X-Maxx, using authentic Traxxas components ensures you maintain the factory handling characteristics the truck was designed for.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a replacement spare part rather than a complete vehicle, so it's intended for experienced RC users who already own an X-Maxx and have basic mechanical knowledge of chassis maintenance. If you're new to RC, consider starting with a ready-to-run RTR package, then learning maintenance skills before replacing steering components.
