Overview

The Traxxas Shock Caps, Aluminium (TRX2667) are premium replacement shock caps designed to upgrade your RC vehicle's suspension system. These hard-anodised aluminium shock caps represent a significant performance upgrade over standard moulded alternatives, offering enhanced durability, superior sealing, and improved longevity for your Big Bore shock absorbers. Whether you're running a competitive RC buggy, a weekend basher, or any Traxxas model equipped with Ultra Shocks or Big Bore shocks, these aluminium caps deliver the reliability and performance characteristics expected from genuine Traxxas components. For RC enthusiasts across the UK looking to extend the lifespan of their suspension components whilst maintaining factory-level precision, these shock caps are an essential upgrade.

Traxxas has engineered these shock caps to provide far superior performance compared to the original moulded plastic versions. The increased durability of hard-anodised aluminium construction means your shocks will withstand the rigours of intense off-road use, whether you're driving on UK terrain ranging from clay tracks to grass fields and rocky surfaces. The enhanced sealing properties prevent dirt, moisture, and debris from entering the shock body, which is particularly important in the UK's damp climate where water ingress can significantly reduce shock performance and lifespan. Installing these genuine Traxxas shock caps is a straightforward maintenance task that immediately improves the overall responsiveness and reliability of your vehicle's suspension.

If you're serious about maintaining your RC car UK investment and want to ensure optimal bump and jump control, these aluminium shock caps are the professional choice. They represent the kind of detail-oriented upgrades that separate competitive drivers from casual bashers, providing measurable improvements in suspension performance and component longevity that justify their cost many times over through extended component life and improved handling characteristics.

Key Features

  • Hard-Anodised Aluminium Construction — The shock caps are manufactured from hard-anodised aluminium, a surface treatment that creates an incredibly durable, corrosion-resistant finish that far exceeds the durability of standard moulded plastic caps and withstands harsh UK weather conditions.
  • PTFE-Coated Shock Bores — PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating on the shock bore provides near-frictionless operation, ensuring ultra-smooth damping characteristics and consistent suspension performance across multiple heat cycles and extended use periods.
  • Titanium Nitride Coated Shafts — The shock shafts feature titanium nitride coating, which dramatically reduces friction and wear whilst providing superior corrosion resistance, resulting in long-lasting performance and reliable damping control session after session.
  • Superior Sealing Performance — Unlike moulded plastic caps which can develop stress cracks and allow dust ingress, these aluminium caps create an enhanced seal that prevents dirt, water, and debris from entering the shock body, protecting internal components and maintaining precise damping performance.
  • Optimised Bump and Jump Control — The engineering of these shock caps, combined with the PTFE-coated bores and titanium nitride shafts, provides optimal control during impacts, jumps, and aggressive driving, translating to better vehicle handling and predictability.
  • Enhanced Durability and Longevity — The combination of hard-anodised aluminium, PTFE coating, and titanium nitride treatment means these shock caps will outlast multiple sets of plastic alternatives, providing better long-term value and reliability for your RC car.
  • Factory-Specification Design — These are genuine Traxxas components engineered to exact factory specifications, ensuring perfect fitment and compatibility with your vehicle's suspension system without any modification or adjustment required.
  • Set of Two — Each package contains two shock caps, allowing you to replace both shocks on your vehicle or maintain spares for extended driving sessions without interruption.

Technical Performance

These Traxxas Shock Caps represent the pinnacle of suspension component engineering for radio-controlled vehicles. The hard-anodised aluminium construction provides a surface hardness that resists impact damage, denting, and corrosion that would compromise a plastic alternative. The PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating on the shock bores is a low-friction material more commonly associated with professional engineering applications, and its presence here ensures that the shock shaft moves through the bore with minimal resistance, creating the ultra-smooth damping action that separates a precision-engineered suspension from a basic one. The titanium nitride coating on the shock shafts provides multiple benefits: it reduces friction between the shaft and bore, increases hardness to resist wear and scoring from repeated compression and extension cycles, and provides superior corrosion resistance particularly valuable in the UK's damp climate where salt-laden air and moisture can cause premature degradation of uncoated components. When these three technologies work together—hard-anodised aluminium bodies, PTFE-coated bores, and titanium nitride shafts—the result is a suspension component that delivers near-frictionless operation across the full range of motion. This translates into measurable performance benefits: better shock responsiveness, more consistent damping characteristics throughout the shock travel, reduced heat generation during intense use, and significantly extended operational lifespan. The superior sealing provided by the aluminium construction prevents water ingress, which is crucial in the UK where weekend bashers regularly encounter wet grass and muddy terrain. Compared to standard moulded plastic shock caps which flex under pressure and can develop cracks that allow dirt and moisture ingress, the rigid aluminium construction maintains a perfect seal. These shock caps are designed for use with Traxxas Big Bore shocks and Ultra Shocks, providing the enhanced sealing and durability characteristics that differentiate premium suspension components from budget alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these shock caps compatible with all Traxxas vehicles? — These shock caps are specifically designed for Traxxas vehicles equipped with Big Bore shocks or Ultra Shocks. Check your vehicle's specifications to confirm it uses these shock types. If you're unsure, our team at RC Model Shop can help you verify compatibility before purchase.
  • What is the difference between these aluminium caps and the standard plastic caps? — The plastic caps that come standard on many Traxxas vehicles are moulded and can flex or crack under load, compromising the seal and allowing dirt and moisture ingress. These hard-anodised aluminium caps are rigid, durable, and provide superior sealing. Additionally, the PTFE-coated bores and titanium nitride shafts in aluminium shock assemblies provide near-frictionless operation with ultra-smooth damping compared to standard components, resulting in more responsive suspension performance and longer component lifespan.
  • How do these improve my RC car's performance? — By replacing moulded plastic shock caps with these hard-anodised aluminium versions, you gain superior sealing that keeps dirt and moisture out of the shock mechanism, ensuring consistent damping performance. The PTFE coating and titanium nitride treatment mean the shocks operate with less friction, providing smoother, more predictable suspension response during jumps, bumps, and aggressive manoeuvres. This translates to better vehicle control, improved handling characteristics, and more predictable behaviour whether you're racing competitively or weekend bashing.
  • Do I need any tools to install these shock caps? — Installation is straightforward and requires only basic tools typically found in any RC enthusiast's toolkit. The caps are designed for simple replacement of your existing caps without modification to the shock body or other components. Detailed installation instructions are typically included with Traxxas shock components.
  • Will these fit my Big Bore shocks? — Yes, these shock caps are specifically designed for Big Bore shocks and provide the enhanced aluminium construction and sealing characteristics that complement the performance of those shock absorbers. The Big Bore design is engineered for optimal bump and jump control, and these caps ensure that the sealing integrity and friction characteristics remain at their best.
  • How much longer will these last compared to plastic caps? — Hard-anodised aluminium is significantly more durable than moulded plastic. Plastic caps can crack or develop stress fractures within a few months of intensive use, particularly in the UK's variable climate. The aluminium construction, combined with the PTFE and titanium nitride treatments, means these caps typically outlast multiple generations of plastic alternatives, providing excellent long-term value.
  • Are these genuine Traxxas components? — Yes, when purchased from RC Model Shop you receive genuine Traxxas components manufactured to exact factory specifications. We are an authorised Traxxas retailer, and all products are sourced directly from official distributors, ensuring authenticity and warranty coverage.
