Overview
The Tamiya Spray Paint TS-9 British Green is an essential finishing product for model builders across the UK who demand professional results on their RC cars, static models, and plastic scale projects. This premium synthetic lacquer spray paint delivers a distinctive deep green colour with a stunning glossy finish that brings authenticity and visual appeal to British military vehicles, classic cars, and period-accurate scale models. Whether you're an experienced modeller working on competition-grade RC cars or a hobbyist looking to enhance your collection, Tamiya's TS-9 British Green offers the precision, coverage, and durability that serious builders have trusted for decades.
Tamiya spray paints are specifically engineered for model builders who need fast-curing, professional-quality finishes without the complexity of traditional brush application. The 100ml can provides exceptional coverage, with enough paint to fully coat two or three 1/24 scale car bodies, making it economical for both single projects and larger collection work. This makes it ideal for RC enthusiasts in the UK building everything from classic British racing green vehicles to historically accurate military-themed models. The synthetic lacquer formula ensures a durable, hard-wearing finish that resists chipping and fading, perfect for models that will see regular display or gentle handling.
What truly sets Tamiya spray paints apart in the RC and scale modelling community is their unique compatibility with other painting systems. Unlike some spray paints that react poorly with acrylic or enamel products, Tamiya's formulation remains completely unaffected by these alternatives. This means after applying your base coat of TS-9 British Green, you can seamlessly layer detail work using enamel and acrylic paints to add panel lines, weathering effects, decals, and fine finishing touches. This three-paint-system approach simplifies the entire finishing process and opens up creative possibilities that would be impossible with single-system products, making TS-9 British Green an investment in a more effective and enjoyable modelling experience.
Key Features
- Deep Green Colour with Glossy Finish — The distinctive British green shade provides authentic colouration for classic British vehicles, military models, and period-specific RC builds, whilst the glossy finish creates a professional, show-quality appearance that catches light beautifully and enhances detail visibility on your finished model.
- 100ml Can Size — Each aerosol contains a generous 100ml volume of paint, which is precisely calibrated to coat two or three 1/24 scale car bodies completely, ensuring you have enough product for full coverage without wasteful overspray or the need to purchase multiple cans for standard projects.
- Synthetic Lacquer Formula — The advanced synthetic lacquer composition cures rapidly after application, allowing you to handle and continue work on your model much sooner than traditional enamel or acrylic sprays, significantly speeding up your building timeline without compromising finish quality.
- Short Curing Time — Fast drying characteristics mean you can apply multiple coats or proceed to the next stage of your build project within hours rather than days, making TS-9 British Green ideal for builders working on tight timelines or managing multiple models simultaneously.
- Compatible with Acrylic and Enamel Paints — Unlike spray paints that reject or react badly with other paint systems, Tamiya's formula remains completely unaffected by both acrylic and enamel paints, allowing you to apply detailed hand-painted accents, weathering effects, and fine detail work directly over your base coat without adhesion problems or paint lifting.
- Ideal for Large Surface Coverage — The spray aerosol format is specifically engineered for efficiently coating large areas such as car bodies, chassis panels, and major model components, providing even coverage without the brush marks, dust collection, or application inconsistencies associated with brush painting large surfaces.
- Enables Multi-System Finishing Techniques — By combining Tamiya spray paint with hand-painted acrylics and enamels, builders can achieve professional results using simple, effective layering techniques that break down the finishing process into manageable stages, making high-quality results accessible to builders of all experience levels.
- Professional Durability — The hard-wearing synthetic lacquer finish resists chipping, scratching, and colour fade, ensuring your carefully finished model maintains its pristine appearance through storage, display, handling, and gentle use over months and years.
Technical Performance
Tamiya's TS-9 British Green spray paint represents decades of refinement in lacquer formulation specifically optimised for scale model finishing. The synthetic lacquer base is engineered to cure within a short timeframe, allowing builders to progress through finishing stages efficiently whilst maintaining professional coating quality. The 100ml aerosol delivery system provides consistent, even atomisation across large flat surfaces without the risk of drips, runs, or pooling that can occur with brush application. The glossy finish characteristic of this paint formula creates a hard, protective surface that guards against minor scuffs and environmental exposure whilst maintaining the vibrant depth of the British green colour. What distinguishes this product from consumer-grade spray paints is Tamiya's chemical engineering that ensures complete compatibility with both acrylic and enamel paint systems—a critical feature for serious modellers who layer multiple paint types during the finishing process. The coverage efficiency of approximately two to three 1/24 scale bodies per can represents optimal balance between can size and practical spraying distance, minimising wasted overspray whilst ensuring sufficient product for complete, even coverage. The rapid curing characteristics mean recoating is possible within hours, and finished models can progress to protective coating or display stages much faster than traditional paint systems, making TS-9 British Green particularly valuable for competitive builders and those working on time-sensitive projects.
