Overview

The Traxxas Oil, shock (40 wt, 500 cSt, 60cc) (Silicone) TRX5033 is a premium suspension tuning fluid designed for RC enthusiasts who demand precision performance from their vehicles. Whether you're running an RC car UK, a competitive short course truck, or any Traxxas model with adjustable shocks, this silicone shock oil is the professional-grade solution for dialling in your suspension to perfection. Traxxas has engineered this complete line of premium silicone shock oils to give you unprecedented control over your vehicle's handling characteristics, regardless of whether you drive on tarmac, grass, dirt or indoor surfaces.

As an RC hobbyist investing in quality equipment, you understand that suspension tuning is where champions are made. This 40-weight formulation with a precise viscosity specification of 500 cSt allows you to fine-tune your vehicle's shock damping with absolute consistency. Available as part of a comprehensive range of seven different viscosities spanning from 200cSt to 1000cSt (20wt to 80wt), the TRX5033 sits in the middle of the spectrum, making it an excellent all-round choice for most driving conditions and vehicle types. The 60cc bottle size is generous enough to fill all four shocks on most RC models, ensuring you have plenty of oil for initial setup, adjustments, and future maintenance.

What truly sets Traxxas shock oil apart in the competitive world of RC cars and trucks is the commitment to 100% pure silicone formulation. This purity guarantees maximum consistency between bottles, meaning when you buy your second bottle of 40wt oil next month, it will perform identically to your first. This level of reliability is essential for serious RC racers and weekend bashers alike who want their suspension to behave predictably every single time they take to the track or the trail.

Key Features

  • 40-Weight (500 cSt) Viscosity — This mid-range viscosity specification provides balanced damping suitable for general-purpose RC car and truck applications, offering a smooth handling feel without excessive stiffness or mushiness in the suspension response.
  • 100% Pure Silicone Oil Formulation — Traxxas uses only pure silicone in this shock oil, which ensures exceptional consistency from bottle to bottle, eliminating variables that could affect your vehicle's performance and making your suspension tuning predictable and reliable.
  • Seven Precise Viscosity Options — The complete Traxxas shock oil range includes seven different steps of viscosity ranging from 200cSt (20wt) through to 1000cSt (80wt), allowing you to precisely match the oil weight to your vehicle type, driving style, track conditions, and personal suspension preferences.
  • Precision-Pour Twist-Nozzle Cap — The specially designed cap with precision-pour function makes filling your shock bodies quick, easy and mess-free, eliminating frustration and spillage whilst ensuring you can add oil without over-filling or wasting product.
  • Large 60cc Bottle Size — At 2 fl. oz (59ml), the bottle contains sufficient oil to completely fill all four shocks on the vast majority of RC models, plus extra for future adjustments, maintenance and experimentation with different viscosities.
  • cSt Viscosity Specification — Every bottle is manufactured to precise centistoke (cSt) viscosity standards, guaranteeing consistent performance characteristics with every purchase, which is crucial for maintaining predictable handling when replacing or topping up your shock oil.

Technical Performance

Suspension tuning is the science that separates fast RC drivers from average ones, and the Traxxas Oil, shock (40 wt, 500 cSt, 60cc) TRX5033 gives you the precision tools you need to unlock your vehicle's full potential. The 40-weight formulation with its 500 cSt viscosity specification represents the middle ground in Traxxas's comprehensive seven-step shock oil lineup, making it the most versatile choice for a wide range of RC vehicles, driving styles and track conditions. Whether you're running a Mini Slash BL-2S 4X4 RTR Short Course Truck, a larger scale monster truck, or any other Traxxas model equipped with adjustable shock bodies, this oil provides the damping characteristics needed for responsive yet stable handling. The 100% pure silicone construction means there are no impurities, additives or fillers that might degrade performance over time or cause inconsistent behaviour between applications. Every application of this shock oil delivers identical damping properties, allowing you to make meaningful suspension adjustments and observe the results with confidence. The precision-pour twist-nozzle cap design has been engineered specifically for the task of filling shock bodies accurately without mess, waste or the possibility of over-filling, which could cause suspension binding or performance degradation. The generous 60cc bottle size ensures you have ample fluid for initial setup, making suspension adjustments as you dial in your vehicle's handling, and maintaining your shocks with fresh oil as part of regular maintenance routines. For RC car enthusiasts in the UK seeking professional-grade suspension fluids that deliver predictable, repeatable performance, this Traxxas shock oil represents genuine quality engineering at a reasonable price point.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What viscosity shock oil should I use for my RC car or truck? — The choice of shock oil viscosity depends on your vehicle type, driving conditions, and personal handling preferences. The 40-weight (500 cSt) TRX5033 is an excellent general-purpose choice suitable for most RC vehicles and conditions. Traxxas offers seven viscosity options ranging from 20wt (200cSt) for lighter, faster response, up to 80wt (1000cSt) for heavier damping. Lighter oils (lower viscosity) provide quicker suspension response and softer feel, whilst heavier oils (higher viscosity) provide more controlled, dampened motion. Many RC hobbyists start with 40wt and adjust from there based on their observations.
  • Is this shock oil compatible with all Traxxas models? — This 100% pure silicone shock oil is designed for use in any Traxxas model equipped with adjustable shock bodies. It is specifically listed as compatible with the Traxxas Mini Slash BL-2S 4X4 RTR Short Course Truck in orange, yellow, green and pink colour options, and works with any other Traxxas vehicle featuring similar shock design. Check your vehicle's manual to confirm shock type compatibility before purchasing.
  • How much shock oil do I need? — The 60cc bottle is sized to fill all four shock bodies on most standard RC models, whether you're running a compact short course truck or a larger scale vehicle. This quantity is sufficient for initial setup and several future adjustments without waste. If you run multiple vehicles or need to experiment with different viscosities, you may wish to purchase multiple bottles.
  • Why choose 100% pure silicone over other shock oil types? — Pure silicone formulation ensures maximum consistency between bottles and over time, meaning your suspension will behave identically whether you're using the first bottle or your tenth. This consistency is essential for serious RC racing and tuning, as it eliminates variables caused by oil degradation or inconsistency. The 100% pure silicone also resists temperature changes better than lower-grade oils, maintaining its viscosity properties across a wider range of conditions.
  • How do I use the precision-pour twist-nozzle cap? — The cap is designed to dispense oil smoothly and accurately. Simply twist the nozzle, apply gentle pressure to the bottle to control the flow of oil, and fill your shock bodies slowly and carefully. The precision design prevents splashing, spilling and mess, making the process faster and cleaner than using generic oil bottles or syringes.
  • Can I mix different viscosities of Traxxas shock oil? — Whilst you can technically use different viscosities in front and rear shocks to tune your vehicle's handling balance, it is generally recommended to use the same viscosity throughout for predictable, consistent behaviour. If you do experiment with mixing viscosities, keep detailed notes of which shocks have which oil so you can reproduce successful setups.
