Overview

The ARRMA Steel Turnbuckle M4x40mm (Black) is a precision-engineered steering component designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand reliability and durability from their RC car UK builds. This high-quality turnbuckle is manufactured from strong and durable material for optimum performance and long-lasting durability, making it an essential upgrade or replacement part for your brushless RC monster truck or stunt truck. Whether you're running a 1/5 scale KRATON 8S or OUTCAST 8S, this steel turnbuckle delivers the precision you need for consistent steering geometry and responsive handling.

Turnbuckles are critical components in the steering linkage of any serious RC vehicle, allowing you to fine-tune toe-in and steering response without having to replace entire rod ends. The M4x40mm specification makes this part compatible with ARRMA's high-performance 1/5 scale ready to run RC trucks, and the black finish matches factory aesthetic perfectly. For anyone building or maintaining a brushless RC 4WD truck, having quality replacement turnbuckles on hand ensures your vehicle remains in peak competitive condition or ready for weekend bashing adventures.

This ARRMA part (model number ARA340155) has earned a 5 out of 5 customer rating, reflecting the trust that RC hobbyists place in ARRMA's commitment to precision manufacturing and build quality. Whether you're setting up a new truck or replacing worn components in an existing build, this steel turnbuckle represents excellent value and genuine ARRMA quality that you can depend on.

Key Features

  • Precision Manufactured End Threads — The M4 threads are precision engineered to provide safe and secure rod end fit, ensuring zero play in your steering linkage and maintaining consistent handling characteristics throughout your RC driving session. This precision is crucial for both competitive racing and weekend bashing, as any looseness in the steering will negatively impact control and steering response.
  • High-Quality Steel Material — Constructed from strong and durable steel rather than plastic or aluminium, this turnbuckle is built to withstand the stresses of aggressive steering inputs and high-speed cornering without bending, stripping threads, or failing prematurely. Steel turnbuckles are the choice of serious RC competitors because they maintain their integrity under extreme conditions.
  • 7mm Hex Fit for Easy Adjustment — The turnbuckle features a 7mm hex socket, allowing you to use a standard adjustment tool to rotate the barrel and modify steering geometry precisely. This makes it simple to dial in your toe-in settings without needing specialist equipment, giving you full control over your truck's steering characteristics.
  • M4x40mm Specification — This specific size (M4 diameter, 40mm length) is the exact specification required by ARRMA's 1/5 scale KRATON and OUTCAST series trucks, ensuring perfect fitment and compatibility with factory steering geometry and rod ends.
  • Factory Black Finish — The black coating matches ARRMA's factory aesthetic perfectly, maintaining your truck's appearance whether this is a replacement or upgrade component.

Technical Performance

This steel turnbuckle represents ARRMA's commitment to engineering excellence in their RC truck components. The M4x40mm dimensions provide the exact leverage and geometry required for precise steering control in 1/5 scale brushless RC monster trucks and stunt trucks. The precision-manufactured threads ensure that when paired with quality rod ends, your steering linkage will have minimal backlash and maximum responsiveness. Steel is the material of choice for turnbuckles in competitive RC because it resists the thread stripping and bending that can occur with aluminium alternatives when subjected to the repeated twisting forces and impacts inherent in RC driving. The 7mm hex fitting means you can make adjustments quickly and easily using standard turnbuckle adjustment tools, without needing to remove the turnbuckle completely or use makeshift solutions. For drivers of the ARRMA 1/5 KRATON 8S (whether standard, EXB roller, or EXB AVC variants) and OUTCAST 8S (in any configuration), this turnbuckle maintains factory steering geometry and ensures your truck handles exactly as ARRMA designed it to. The 40mm length is perfectly proportioned to these large-scale trucks, providing the right amount of adjustment range without being so long that it interferes with other chassis components or creates excessive leverage during steering inputs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a turnbuckle and why do I need one for my RC car? — A turnbuckle is a hollow rod with reversed threads inside that allows you to adjust the length of your steering linkage without replacing the entire rod assembly. By rotating the barrel, you can change the toe-in angle of your front wheels, which directly affects how your RC truck steers and handles. This is essential for tuning and maintaining your ready to run RC truck, as steering geometry naturally drifts over time with use.
  • Will this turnbuckle fit my ARRMA truck? — Yes, the ARRMA Steel Turnbuckle M4x40mm is a standard part for the 1/5 KRATON 8S series (including ARA110002, ARA5208, ARA5808V2T1 variants) and the 1/5 OUTCAST 8S series (including ARA5810 and ARA5810V2T1 variants). The M4x40mm specification is the factory steering component for these trucks, so it will fit perfectly and maintain ARRMA's engineered handling characteristics.
  • Is steel better than aluminium for turnbuckles? — Yes, steel is superior to aluminium for turnbuckles in RC applications. Steel resists thread stripping better when the turnbuckle is adjusted repeatedly, won't bend under the steering forces encountered during aggressive driving, and maintains its dimensional accuracy longer. Whilst aluminium is lighter, RC steering components benefit more from durability than weight reduction, making steel the professional choice.
  • How often will I need to replace this turnbuckle? — With proper maintenance, a quality steel turnbuckle like this ARRMA part will last through thousands of kilometres of RC driving. However, if you notice your truck's steering becoming loose or unresponsive, or if you damage the threads or barrel during maintenance, replacement is straightforward and affordable with this OEM ARRMA component.
  • How do I adjust my truck's toe-in using this turnbuckle? — Using a 7mm hex wrench or adjustment tool, insert it into the hex socket on the barrel of the turnbuckle. Rotate the barrel clockwise to shorten the linkage (increasing toe-out) or counterclockwise to lengthen it (increasing toe-in). Always adjust both sides equally to maintain your truck's straight-line handling. Make small adjustments and test your truck between changes to find the steering geometry that works best for your driving style.
  • Can I use this on other RC vehicles besides ARRMA trucks? — Whilst the M4x40mm specification is what ARRMA designed for their 1/5 scale trucks, other RC manufacturers may use different thread sizes or lengths for their steering systems. Always check your truck's manual or parts diagram to confirm the exact turnbuckle specification you need before purchasing. Using the wrong size will result in fitment problems and unsafe steering geometry.
