Overview
The Fastrax Fast Finish Ivory White Spray Paint 400ml (FAST286) is a premium aerosol paint specifically engineered for polycarbonate lexan RC model car bodies. Whether you're building a competition-grade 1/10th scale buggy, preparing a nitro-powered racer, or customising your RC car collection, this professional-grade paint delivers the stunning visual finish and durability that serious hobbyists demand. Fast Finish has become the go-to choice for RC car UK enthusiasts who refuse to compromise on quality, and this 400ml can provides excellent coverage for multiple body shells or detailed paint work.
What sets Fast Finish apart from standard lexan paints is its specially formulated composition, designed to work harmoniously with the unique properties of polycarbonate material. Because lexan is inherently flexible and durable, it requires a paint system that can flex with the bodywork without cracking or peeling during the rigours of high-speed competition and aggressive track use. Fast Finish delivers this flexibility whilst maintaining an exceptionally professional finish that looks stunning under the lights of any RC racing venue. The Ivory White colour from the Classic range provides a timeless, professional appearance that works beautifully as a base colour or standalone finish.
Beyond aesthetics, Fast Finish offers practical advantages that impact on-track performance. The paint is fuel resistant, making it the ideal choice for nitro-powered RC cars where traditional polycarbonate paints would break down or become tacky when exposed to nitromethane fuel. For electric-powered ready to run RC models and competition-grade setups, the weight-saving properties of Fast Finish make a tangible difference to handling and acceleration, particularly in 1/10th and 1/12th scale vehicles where every gram counts.
Key Features
- Polycarbonate-Specific Formula — This paint is engineered specifically for lexan bodywork rather than being a generic aerosol paint, meaning it bonds properly with polycarbonate material, remains flexible as the body moves, and resists the common problems of cracking, peeling or adhesion failure that occur when using unsuitable paint types.
- Fuel Resistant Paint System — The paint composition actively resists breakdown when exposed to nitromethane fuel, making it essential for anyone running nitro-powered RC cars, buggies, and trucks where fuel contact with the paint is inevitable during refuelling and operation.
- Weight-Saving Technology — A painted bodyshell finished with Fast Finish typically weighs 10-12 grams less than one painted with conventional lexan paints, delivering a genuine performance advantage in weight-sensitive 1/10th and 1/12th scale racing where reduced unsprung mass improves acceleration, braking and handling dynamics.
- Professional Colour Finish — The Ivory White colour from the Classic range delivers a solid, vibrant finish with excellent opacity, providing a professional appearance suitable for competition racing, display models, or as a foundation colour for custom paint schemes and artistic designs.
- 400ml Capacity — The larger 400ml can size provides generous coverage, allowing you to paint multiple body shells or apply thick, even coats for perfect coverage without runs or thin spots, making it economical for serious RC car UK enthusiasts.
- Aerosol Application — The convenient spray paint format means no mixing, no brushes, and no complicated application equipment required—simply mask your body, shake the can, and spray for consistent, professional results every time.
- Durable Race-Ready Finish — Beyond visual appeal, Fast Finish is engineered to withstand the mechanical stresses of competitive RC use, including impacts, vibration, fuel exposure and exposure to outdoor elements without degrading or discolouring.
Technical Performance
Fast Finish aerosol paints represent a significant advancement in lexan paint technology. The specially blended paint formula is specifically calibrated to bond with polycarbonate material in a way that generic spray paints simply cannot replicate. Because polycarbonate bodywork is inherently flexible—it needs to flex to absorb impacts and vibrations without shattering—the paint must retain this flexibility after it dries. Standard acrylic or enamel paints dry to a rigid film that cracks when the bodywork flexes, but Fast Finish remains flexible, maintaining its integrity through thousands of high-speed acceleration cycles, braking events, and contact with track surfaces. The fuel resistance formulation is particularly important for nitro enthusiasts; the paint actively resists chemical breakdown when exposed to nitromethane, remaining vibrant and protective rather than becoming sticky or soft. The weight advantage derives from the optimised paint chemistry and application characteristics—because the paint bonds so efficiently with polycarbonate, you need less paint to achieve proper coverage, resulting in a thinner, lighter final finish. This is not a cosmetic saving; in 1/10th and 1/12th scale racing, the 10-12 gram reduction is enough to noticeably improve acceleration and handling response. The 400ml capacity ensures that you have sufficient paint for complete coverage with room for multiple coats, touch-ups, or painting additional bodies without running short. Application is straightforward: mask your body work, apply thin, even coats at the recommended distance, and allow proper drying time between coats. The aerosol format eliminates mixing variables and delivers consistent pressure throughout use.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is Fast Finish paint suitable for all polycarbonate RC car bodies? — Yes, Fast Finish is specifically formulated for polycarbonate lexan bodywork and will work on any RC car body made from this material, including 1/10th and 1/12th scale buggies, touring cars, trucks, crawlers and off-road vehicles. It is not suitable for painted metal or plastic bodies designed for different paint systems.
- Can I use Fast Finish on nitro-powered RC cars? — Absolutely. Fast Finish paint is fuel resistant and actively designed for nitro vehicles. This is one of its key advantages over standard lexan paints, which can deteriorate when exposed to nitromethane fuel. If you run a nitro RC car, fuel-resistant paint is essential for protecting your investment.
- How much weight does Fast Finish save compared to normal lexan paint? — A bodyshell painted with Fast Finish typically weighs 10-12 grams less than one finished with conventional lexan paints. This weight saving comes from the optimised paint formulation and improved adhesion, which allows you to achieve proper coverage with a thinner final coat. In 1/10th and 1/12th scale racing, this is a significant performance advantage.
- What colour is Ivory White and how does it compare to other whites in the range? — Ivory White is a solid, classic white colour from the Fast Finish Classic range. It provides a clean, professional appearance and serves well either as a finished colour or as a neutral base colour for metallic or special effects paint layers. Ivory White is part of the standard colour palette alongside red, black, and metallic shades like Spa Silver and Graphite.
- Can I use Fast Finish paint on plastic bodies that aren't polycarbonate? — No. Fast Finish is specifically engineered for polycarbonate lexan bodywork. Using it on other plastic materials may result in poor adhesion or incompatibility. Always verify that your body is polycarbonate before applying Fast Finish paint.
- How do I apply Fast Finish spray paint correctly? — Shake the can thoroughly before use, then apply thin, even coats from a distance of approximately 6-8 inches, allowing proper drying time between coats. Mask off any areas you don't want painted, ensure good ventilation, and apply in a dust-free environment. Multiple thin coats produce better results than one thick coat.
- Is Fast Finish suitable for custom paint schemes and artistic designs? — Yes. Many RC hobbyists use Fast Finish as a base colour and then apply masking and additional paint layers to create custom patterns, stripes, and designs. Ivory White works particularly well as a foundation for metallic and special effects paints.
- How long does a 400ml can last? — The coverage depends on your application technique and the number of coats. A 400ml can typically provides sufficient paint to fully coat 2-4 polycarbonate bodies with proper coverage, or to provide touch-ups and repairs across multiple models.
