Overview

The Radient Charge Lead RDNAC010068 is an essential charging accessory for RC enthusiasts in the UK who operate equipment featuring EC5 connectors paired with 4mm bullet charging outputs. This compact 150mm charge lead bridges the gap between your charger's 4mm bullet connectors and your ESC's EC5 male socket, making it an indispensable component for anyone serious about maintaining their RC car, truck, or aircraft setup. Whether you're a seasoned competitor running high-performance brushless systems, a weekend basher enjoying outdoor RC driving, or a hobbyist maintaining multiple RC models, having the correct charge leads ensures safe, efficient power delivery during battery charging sessions.

Manufactured by Radient, a recognised name in RC hobby electronics and connectors, this charge lead delivers straightforward reliability without unnecessary complications. The 150mm length makes it ideal for ESC end use, providing enough cable length to connect your workshop or field charger setup without excessive bulk. With 12AWG wire gauge specification, this lead is engineered to handle the current demands of modern lithium polymer and lithium-ion RC batteries, making it suitable for a wide range of 2S, 3S, and 4S battery configurations commonly used in RC racing and bashing applications across the UK RC hobby scene.

If you're building your first RC car UK setup, upgrading your existing RC model's charging infrastructure, or simply need a reliable replacement charge lead for your workshop, the Radient RDNAC010068 offers excellent value and performance. The EC5 connector standard has become increasingly popular in modern RC electronics, particularly in brushless RC systems, so having a quality charge lead with this connectivity ensures you're prepared for today's RC hobby requirements.

Key Features

  • 4mm Bullet to EC5 Male Configuration — This charge lead connects standard 4mm bullet connectors found on most RC chargers and power supplies to the EC5 male socket on modern ESCs and battery connectors, giving you compatibility with the latest EC5-equipped RC hardware without requiring additional adapters or converters.
  • 12AWG Wire Gauge — The heavy-duty 12AWG cable provides excellent current-carrying capacity, ensuring minimal voltage drop during charging cycles and safe power delivery for 2S through 4S lithium polymer and lithium-ion battery packs commonly used in RC cars, trucks, and helicopters across British RC racing and bashing communities.
  • Compact 150mm Length — At just 150mm long, this charge lead is perfectly sized for ESC-end applications where you need to connect your charger directly to your electronic speed controller without excessive cable length creating clutter in your pit box or workshop setup.
  • Purpose-Built ESC End Design — Specifically engineered for ESC end use, this lead integrates seamlessly into your charging workflow, allowing you to connect your charger's 4mm bullet outputs directly to your speed controller's EC5 socket with confidence and reliability.
  • Professional Grade Connectors — Both the 4mm bullet and EC5 connectors meet industry standards, ensuring proper fit, secure connections, and excellent electrical contact every single time you use the lead, with no loose or inconsistent connections that could affect charging performance.

Technical Performance

The Radient RDNAC010068 charge lead represents solid engineering designed specifically for the demands of modern RC hobby charging applications. The 12AWG wire gauge is a critical specification that directly impacts the lead's performance; this gauge provides sufficient cross-sectional area to carry the charging currents required by contemporary brushless RC systems without experiencing voltage sag or overheating during extended charging sessions. For UK RC enthusiasts operating 3S or 4S LiPo systems—the standard power sources for competitive and recreational RC cars, trucks, and larger aircraft—this wire gauge ensures the lead can handle peak charging currents without degradation. The construction quality is evident in the choice of standard EC5 connectors, which have become the go-to specification for high-current applications in the RC hobby. The 150mm length is neither too short nor unnecessarily long; it provides practical working length when connecting a charger to an ESC mounted in or near your RC model, whilst remaining compact enough to store easily or route neatly through your pit setup. Materials selection emphasises durability and safety, with insulated cables protecting against accidental contact and connector design that prevents incorrect polarity connection, a crucial safety feature when working with lithium chemistry batteries that can be damaged or dangerous if charged with reversed polarity.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this charge lead compatible with all RC chargers and ESCs? — This charge lead is compatible with any RC charger or power supply featuring 4mm bullet connectors on the charging outputs, and any ESC or battery connector with an EC5 male socket. Before purchasing, verify that your charger has 4mm bullet outputs and your ESC has an EC5 male connector. If your charger uses different connectors (such as XT60, XT90, or Dean connectors), you'll need a different charge lead or an adapter.
  • What battery types can I charge using this lead? — This charge lead is designed for use with lithium polymer (LiPo) and lithium-ion battery packs across 2S, 3S, and 4S configurations, which are the standard battery chemistries used in RC cars, RC trucks, and RC aircraft throughout the UK hobby community. Always use appropriate charging equipment designed for your specific battery chemistry and configuration, and never leave batteries unattended during charging.
  • Why is 12AWG wire gauge important for a charge lead? — Wire gauge directly determines how much electrical current the cable can safely carry without overheating. The 12AWG specification on this lead means it can handle the peak charging currents delivered by modern chargers without voltage drop or heat generation, ensuring faster, safer charging cycles. Smaller gauge wires (higher AWG numbers) would experience significant voltage sag and generate heat, potentially damaging batteries or chargers.
  • Is this suitable for beginners in the RC hobby? — Yes, absolutely. This charge lead is straightforward to use—simply plug the 4mm bullet end into your charger's output sockets and the EC5 male connector into your ESC's charging socket. The Radient brand and industrial EC5 standard represent reliable, proven technology. However, all users should follow proper lithium battery safety practices, including charging in a safe location away from flammable materials and never leaving charging batteries unattended.
  • What makes the EC5 connector preferable to other standards? — The EC5 connector is a high-current specification that has become the industry standard for performance RC applications. It provides better mechanical stability, more secure connections, and superior contact surfaces compared to older connector types, all of which contribute to safer, more reliable charging. The larger physical size also prevents accidental misconnection with incompatible equipment.
  • How long does this charge lead last? — With proper care, quality charge leads like the Radient RDNAC010068 last for many years of regular use. Inspect the connectors and cable regularly for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Store the lead in a cool, dry location away from sharp objects that could damage the insulation. Replace immediately if you notice any damage to the cable insulation or connector pins.
