Overview

The Traxxas Ball bearing, Black rubber sealed (20x27x4mm) (2 pcs) TRX5182A represents a premium upgrade for your RC car maintenance and repair needs. Whether you're a seasoned RC enthusiast running high-performance RC buggies, monster trucks, or off-road crawlers, or you're discovering the world of RC car modifications for the first time, these black-seal bearings deliver superior protection and reliability. These precision-engineered bearings are specifically designed for demanding RC applications where durability and consistent performance are essential. Available from RC Model Shop, your trusted UK RC retailer, these genuine Traxxas components will keep your RC vehicle running smoothly whether you're bashing at weekends or competing at a local track.

Black-seal bearings represent a step above standard blue-seal bearings, offering enhanced protection for the internal rolling elements. If you've been searching for "RC ball bearings UK" or looking to upgrade your RC car's drivetrain, you've found the right solution. These bearings are the internal bearings originally specified for Traxxas X-Maxx axle carriers and steering blocks, making them ideal for users who want authentic, manufacturer-approved components for their RC models. The black rubber seal design creates an even tighter seal than blue-seal alternatives, which means better exclusion of dirt, moisture and debris—crucial for maintaining peak performance in the muddy, wet conditions common to UK RC bashing and off-road racing.

Proper bearing maintenance is fundamental to RC car longevity. Worn or damaged bearings introduce play, reduce efficiency, and can lead to catastrophic drivetrain failure. By investing in quality replacement bearings like these TRX5182A units, you're protecting your investment and ensuring your RC truck, buggy or crawler performs at its best. The pair format means you have everything you need for a complete axle carrier or steering block refresh, and the black rubber seal technology reduces maintenance intervals compared to open or loosely-sealed designs.

Key Features

  • Black Rubber Seal Design — These bearings feature a premium black rubber seal that provides an even tighter seal than traditional blue-seal bearings, creating superior protection against dirt, mud, water and other contaminants that can damage the internal rolling elements and compromise bearing performance.
  • Ultimate Protection in Dirty Environments — The enhanced seal design is specifically engineered for RC vehicles used in muddy, wet and dusty conditions, making these ideal for UK RC bashers and off-road racers who operate in challenging terrain where standard bearings would fail prematurely.
  • Low Maintenance Requirements — The tight seal design minimises the ingress of foreign material, significantly reducing the frequency of bearing cleaning and re-lubrication compared to open or loosely-sealed alternatives, saving you time and effort between runs.
  • Genuine Traxxas Components — These are authentic Traxxas original equipment bearings, meeting the exact specifications and tolerances required for proper fit and performance in Traxxas models, with full compatibility assurance for replacement and upgrade applications.
  • Supplied as a Pair — This pack contains two bearing units, allowing you to replace both bearings in an axle carrier or steering block in one go, ensuring matched performance and balanced handling across the entire assembly.
  • 20x27x4mm Precision Dimensions — These bearings are manufactured to exact size specifications, guaranteeing perfect fit in your RC chassis without modification or adjustments, maintaining proper bearing preload and alignment for optimal handling and efficiency.
  • Originally Specified for X-Maxx — These are the internal bearings originally fitted to Traxxas X-Maxx axle carriers and steering blocks, indicating they are premium-grade components capable of handling the extreme loads and stresses generated by high-performance RC trucks.

Technical Performance

The TRX5182A bearings represent the pinnacle of Traxxas bearing engineering, machined from premium materials and assembled with the tight tolerances essential for RC performance. At 20x27x4mm, these bearings are designed for axle carrier and steering block applications in Traxxas vehicles, where they must withstand repeated impact loads, high rotational speeds, and the full weight of the vehicle during cornering and acceleration. The black rubber seal is manufactured from a high-durability elastomer compound that remains flexible across the temperature range experienced during intense RC sessions, whilst maintaining a precise seal geometry that excludes contaminants without creating excessive drag on the rolling elements. The internal ball bearings are manufactured from hardened steel with a mirror-polished finish, ensuring ultra-smooth rotation and minimal friction. Quality control during manufacturing ensures that each bearing meets Traxxas' exacting standards for concentricity, raceway finish, and bearing preload. These bearings excel in both on-road and off-road applications, delivering consistent performance whether you're running a high-speed electric RC buggy, a low-speed rock crawler, or anything in between. The seal design has been proven across thousands of hours of field testing in conditions ranging from desert racing to muddy woodland tracks, making these a trusted choice for serious RC enthusiasts across the UK and worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are black-seal bearings and why are they better than blue-seal bearings? — Black-seal bearings feature a tighter, more effective rubber seal that provides superior protection against dirt and moisture compared to blue-seal alternatives. This enhanced sealing means less contamination reaches the rolling elements, reducing wear, extending bearing life, and minimising the maintenance required between RC sessions. For UK users who frequently bash in muddy or wet conditions, black-seal bearings are a worthwhile upgrade that will keep your RC vehicle running smoothly for longer.
  • Which Traxxas models use the TRX5182A bearings? — These bearings are the original internal bearings specified for Traxxas X-Maxx axle carriers and steering blocks. However, they are also compatible with other Traxxas models that use the same 20x27x4mm bearing size. If you're unsure whether these bearings fit your specific model, we recommend checking your vehicle's parts diagram or contacting our team at RC Model Shop for guidance.
  • What is the difference between TRX5182A and TRX5196A bearings? — According to Traxxas' current specifications, the TRX5196A represents the current-spec bearing for some applications. The TRX5182A is the original specification for X-Maxx axle carriers and steering blocks. Both are high-quality black-seal bearings; your choice depends on which specification your particular Traxxas model requires. Consult your vehicle's manual or parts diagram to determine which bearing is correct for your application.
  • How often should I replace these bearings on my RC vehicle? — Bearing lifespan depends on usage intensity, environmental conditions, and maintenance. For casual weekend bashers in UK conditions, well-maintained black-seal bearings typically last many months of regular use. The tight seal design reduces maintenance requirements compared to open bearings, but you should still inspect bearings periodically and replace them if you notice any grinding, play, or lack of smooth rotation. High-competition use may require more frequent replacement.
  • Can I use these bearings as a replacement or an upgrade? — Yes, these TRX5182A bearings work both as direct replacements for worn bearings and as upgrades from older, less-protected bearing designs. If your RC vehicle originally came with looser or less-sealed bearings, upgrading to these black-seal units will provide noticeably improved performance and reduced maintenance burden.
  • Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, these are authentic Traxxas original equipment bearings, sourced directly from the manufacturer. When you buy from RC Model Shop, you can be confident you're receiving genuine components that meet all Traxxas specifications and performance standards.
