Overview

The Fastrax Fast Finish Mint Green Spray Paint is a premium aerosol paint specifically engineered for polycarbonate (lexan) model car bodies, delivering a superb, dynamic colour finish that can withstand the rigours of competitive and recreational model car use. Whether you're building an RC car in the UK or anywhere else, this specialist formula is essential for anyone serious about achieving professional-quality results on their RC bodies. The mint green finish sits within the Classic range of Fastrax Fast Finish paints, offering a striking, vibrant colour option that stands out on the track or at the hobby bench.

What sets Fast Finish apart from conventional lexan paints is its specially blended formula that has been developed to cope with the unique properties of polycarbonate material itself. Polycarbonate is incredibly flexible and durable, which means it requires paint that can flex and move with the bodyshell without cracking, peeling or losing its lustre. Fast Finish has been engineered to do exactly that, ensuring your painted RC car body remains looking pristine through countless hours of bashing, racing and handling. This paint is fuel resistant, making it perfect for nitro cars as well as electric-powered models, giving you complete flexibility in how you use your RC vehicles.

One of the often-overlooked benefits of Fast Finish paint is its weight advantage over conventional lexan paints. A painted bodyshell finished with Fast Finish will typically be 10-12 grams lighter than one painted with normal lexan paints, which can be a genuine advantage for 1/10th and 1/12th scale RC cars where weight is always a critical consideration for performance and handling. For serious racers and enthusiasts looking to maximise their RC car's potential, this weight saving can make a measurable difference to your vehicle's responsiveness and speed.

Key Features

  • Polycarbonate-Specific Formula — This paint has been specially blended to work perfectly with flexible polycarbonate (lexan) bodyshells, ensuring the colour adheres properly and moves with the body without cracking, flaking or losing colour intensity, which is essential for durability in RC car use.
  • Fuel-Resistant Paint — Fast Finish is resistant to fuel, making it ideal for both electric-powered RC cars and nitro-powered models, so you can use this paint on any type of RC vehicle without worrying about fuel damage to the finish.
  • Weight-Saving Design — This paint formulation is significantly lighter than conventional lexan paints, typically making a painted bodyshell 10-12 grams lighter, which is a real advantage for 1/10th and 1/12th scale RC cars where reducing unsprung weight improves performance and handling characteristics.
  • Dynamic Colour Finish — The mint green colour delivers a striking, vibrant appearance that looks great on display and on the track, with a finish that maintains its lustre and visual impact through regular use and handling.
  • Rigorous Testing and Durability — Fastrax Fast Finish paints are engineered to withstand the demands of model car racing and bashing, maintaining colour integrity and adhesion through impacts, vibration and environmental exposure.
  • 150ml Capacity — The 150ml spray can size provides sufficient paint to complete full bodyshell coverage with enough for touch-ups, repairs or multiple coats if desired, depending on your specific application.
  • Part of the Fast Finish Range — Fast Finish comes in three finish types (Classic, Neon and Special FX), with mint green falling within the Classic range alongside other standard colours and metallic options, giving you a complete palette for your RC projects.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax Fast Finish Mint Green Spray Paint represents a significant advancement in RC body painting technology, particularly for the UK RC hobby community. The paint's specially formulated carrier and pigment blend has been engineered specifically to accommodate the unique characteristics of polycarbonate material. Polycarbonate's flexibility and durability demand a paint system that doesn't become brittle or crack as the body flexes during normal RC car operation—something conventional acrylic or enamel paints simply cannot achieve consistently. Fast Finish delivers this flexibility whilst maintaining exceptional colour saturation and gloss. The paint's fuel resistance is particularly important for users who operate nitro-powered RC cars, where traditional paints would deteriorate upon contact with nitromethane fuel, causing discolouration, peeling or chemical damage. The aerosol delivery system ensures even, consistent coverage with minimal overspray and maximum user control, allowing hobbyists to achieve professional-quality finishes without expensive spray equipment. The weight advantage—typically 10-12 grams lighter per bodyshell compared to standard lexan paints—derives from the optimised formulation that requires fewer base coats whilst still delivering full colour coverage and UV stability. For 1/10th and 1/12th scale RC cars competing in UK racing events or participating in weekend bashing sessions, this weight reduction translates to improved acceleration, better handling balance and enhanced overall performance. The paint's durability has been proven through rigorous testing in real-world RC applications, maintaining adhesion and colour integrity through repeated impacts, thermal cycling, and exposure to UV light.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Fastrax Fast Finish paint suitable for all RC car bodies? — Fast Finish paint is specifically designed for polycarbonate (lexan) model car bodies, which is the standard material used in most RC car shells. It is not recommended for painted plastic bodies or vinyl wraps. Always ensure your bodyshell is polycarbonate before applying this paint.
  • Can I use this paint on nitro-powered RC cars? — Yes, absolutely. Fast Finish is fuel resistant, making it perfect for nitro cars. Unlike conventional lexan paints, this specialist formula will not deteriorate or become damaged when exposed to nitromethane fuel, which makes it an essential choice for anyone running fuel-powered RC vehicles.
  • Will this paint make my RC car lighter? — Yes, one of the key benefits of Fast Finish is its weight advantage. A bodyshell painted with Fast Finish will typically be 10-12 grams lighter than one painted with normal lexan paints. This weight saving is particularly beneficial for 1/10th and 1/12th scale RC cars where every gram matters for performance and handling.
  • How much coverage does one 150ml can provide? — A single 150ml can should provide sufficient coverage for a complete RC bodyshell with careful application, though coverage will depend on the size of the body, the number of coats applied, and your spraying technique. Most users find one can is adequate for a standard 1/10th scale bodyshell with enough paint remaining for touch-ups.
  • Is this paint suitable for beginners? — Yes, the aerosol spray format makes this paint accessible for beginners, as it requires no special equipment or mixing. However, achieving professional results does require practice with proper spray technique, including holding the can at the correct distance and angle, using smooth, even strokes, and applying thin coats rather than one thick coat.
  • What finish does the mint green colour have? — Mint green is part of the Classic range of Fast Finish paints, which provides a standard gloss finish. It is not a metallic colour (like Spa Silver or Graphite from the Classic range) nor a special effect finish, so it delivers a clean, vibrant solid colour appearance.
  • Do I need to apply any primer or base coats before using Fast Finish? — Fast Finish is designed to apply directly to polycarbonate bodyshells. Most users apply the paint directly to clean, prepared lexan without a separate primer, though following Fastrax's application recommendations on the can will ensure optimal results.
  • How does Fast Finish compare to other lexan paints? — Fast Finish is specifically engineered for polycarbonate flexibility and durability, making it superior to conventional acrylic or enamel lexan paints in terms of adhesion, colour longevity and weight efficiency. The fuel-resistant formula and 10-12 gram weight advantage per bodyshell represent significant performance benefits over standard options.
