Overview
The Fastrax Fast Finish Stratos Blue Spray Paint 150ml is a professional-grade aerosol paint specifically engineered for polycarbonate (lexan) model car bodies. Whether you're building a competitive RC buggy, bashful off-road truck, or precision on-road racer, this spray paint delivers the stunning visual finish that makes your RC car stand out on the track whilst maintaining the durability required for the rigours of model car use. Stratos Blue is a striking, vibrant blue finish that gives your RC vehicle that championship look.
The Fast Finish range is the choice of serious RC enthusiasts across the UK and beyond. If you're looking for spray paint for RC cars that actually works with polycarbonate bodies—not against them—Fast Finish is the answer. Unlike standard lexan paints, Fast Finish is specifically formulated to bond with flexible polycarbonate material, which is why it has become the trusted name in RC model car body painting for both weekend bashers and competitive racers.
This 150ml can provides excellent coverage and is part of a comprehensive range of colours and finishes, ensuring you can find exactly the shade you need for your next custom RC build or refresh. Fast Finish paint is fuel-resistant, making it perfect for both electric and nitro-powered RC cars, and it's engineered to be significantly lighter than conventional lexan paints, a crucial advantage when every gram matters in 1/10th and 1/12th scale competition.
Key Features
- Polycarbonate-Optimised Formula — Fast Finish is specially blended to work with flexible polycarbonate (lexan) material, ensuring the paint bonds properly and flexes with the bodyshell without cracking, peeling or crazing, unlike standard spray paints designed for rigid plastics.
- Fuel Resistant — This paint withstands contact with nitro fuel, making it ideal for both electric RC cars and fuel-powered nitro models, protecting your investment regardless of your power source choice.
- Significantly Lighter Weight — Fast Finish paint is engineered to add only 10-12g to your painted bodyshell compared to 20-24g with conventional lexan paints, a real advantage in 1/10th and 1/12th scale racing where reducing unsprung weight directly improves performance and handling.
- Professional Finish Quality — The paint provides a superb, dynamic colour finish that looks factory-fresh, with the Classic range colours delivering consistent, uniform coverage that professional RC teams rely on for presentation and visibility.
- Dynamic Stratos Blue Colour — This striking blue finish is part of the Classic colour range, offering a bold, eye-catching look that performs well in different lighting conditions, whether you're racing indoors or bashing outdoors.
- Extended Shelf Life and Easy Application — As an aerosol spray, Fast Finish is ready to use straight from the can with no mixing required, and the pressurised delivery system ensures consistent application and professional results even for beginners.
- Comprehensive Range — Choose from multiple finishes including Classic colours, Neon ultra-bright fluorescent colours, and Special FX options like Starburst Silver and Pearl White for custom effects, plus Chameleon paints that change shade depending on viewing angle.
Technical Performance
Fast Finish Stratos Blue Spray Paint represents the pinnacle of specialised aerosol paint technology for RC model car bodies. The paint's formulation is engineered specifically around polycarbonate chemistry; standard spray paints are designed for rigid substrates and will not adhere properly to the inherently flexible lexan used in quality RC bodyshells. The Fast Finish formula includes special adhesion promoters and flexible resins that allow the paint film to move with the bodyshell as it flexes during impact, cornering and general use. This flexibility is critical—rigid paint films on flexible substrates will crack and peel within hours of use. The 150ml aerosol can delivers precise atomisation, allowing you to achieve professional coverage in multiple thin coats rather than heavy single applications that lead to runs, sags and imperfect finishes. Fast Finish paint is formulated to cure quickly, allowing you to apply subsequent coats within minutes and return your painted body to service the same day. The fuel resistance characteristic is built into the paint chemistry itself, not added as a topcoat, meaning protection is integral and permanent. Performance testing demonstrates that Fast Finish paint maintains colour fastness, gloss and structural integrity even when exposed to nitro fuel, methanol and oil residues, and the paint will not yellow or degrade under UV exposure from track lighting or outdoor use. The weight advantage—typically 10-12g lighter than conventional lexan paints per body—is achieved through advanced pigment dispersal technology and optimised resin loading, meaning you gain protection and appearance without the weight penalty that would compromise your RC car's acceleration, deceleration and suspension response. For 1/10th and 1/12th scale competition where vehicle weight directly impacts lap times and handling characteristics, this weight saving is genuinely significant and measurable.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is Fast Finish paint suitable for all types of RC car bodies? — Fast Finish is specifically formulated for polycarbonate (lexan) model car bodies, which are used in RC buggies, trucks, short-course vehicles and on-road touring cars. Do not use on painted or sealed surfaces; apply directly to raw polycarbonate for best results. If painting over an existing finish, light sanding may be required for proper adhesion.
- Why is Fast Finish better than regular spray paint for RC cars? — Regular spray paints are formulated for rigid substrates like metal or wood and will not flex with polycarbonate bodyshells. They will crack, peel and fail within days of use. Fast Finish contains special flexible resins and adhesion promoters engineered specifically for polycarbonate, ensuring the paint bonds correctly and moves with the bodyshell as it flexes during driving and impacts.
- Can I use Fast Finish on nitro-powered RC cars? — Yes, absolutely. Fast Finish paint is fuel-resistant and specifically rated for use on nitro RC vehicles. The fuel resistance is permanent and integral to the paint formulation, not a temporary coating, so your paint will withstand ongoing contact with nitro fuel, methanol and oil residues throughout the life of the model.
- How much weight does Fast Finish paint add to my bodyshell? — Fast Finish adds approximately 10-12g to a painted bodyshell, compared to 20-24g added by conventional lexan paints. This 10-12g weight saving can measurably improve acceleration, deceleration and suspension response in 1/10th and 1/12th scale competition vehicles where every gram impacts performance.
- How many coats do I need and how long does it take to paint a bodyshell? — Most RC bodies require 2-3 coats of Fast Finish for full, uniform colour coverage. Each coat dries quickly, allowing you to apply the next coat within minutes. A complete paint job, including drying time between coats, typically takes 20-30 minutes, and the body can be returned to service the same day.
- What is the difference between Stratos Blue and other blue colours in the Fast Finish range? — Stratos Blue is part of the Classic colour range and delivers a striking, vibrant blue finish suitable for general RC use. Rally Blue is also available in the range, offering a different shade of blue. Both are suitable for all RC car types including buggies, trucks and touring cars.
- Can I apply Fast Finish paint over an existing paint job? — Fast Finish can be applied over existing polycarbonate paint if the underlying surface is clean and not glossy. Light sanding of the previous finish with fine sandpaper (220-400 grit) will promote adhesion. Always start with a clean, dust-free bodyshell and work in a well-ventilated area.
- Is Fast Finish paint suitable for beginners? — Yes, Fast Finish is beginner-friendly. The aerosol format requires no mixing or special equipment—simply shake the can and spray. For the best results, apply multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat, and allow a few minutes between coats. Even first-time painters achieve professional results with Fast Finish.
- What colours are available in the Fast Finish range? — Fast Finish offers Classic colours (white, red, black, metallic finishes), Neon ultra-bright fluorescent colours for maximum track visibility, and Special FX options including Starburst Silver with coarse metalflake particles, Pearl White with fine metalflake effects, and Chameleon colours that change shade depending on viewing angle.
- Can I mix Fast Finish colours to create custom shades? — Fast Finish is designed as a direct-spray product and is not intended for mixing. However, you can create custom effects by spraying one colour as a base coat and backing it with a second colour, particularly using the Special FX Starburst Silver or Pearl White options over a Classic colour base for stunning custom finishes.
