Overview

The Traxxas Springs, shock (natural finish) (GTS) (0.39 rate, Orange stripe) (2 pcs) TRX8044 represents an essential suspension upgrade for serious RC crawlers and off-road enthusiasts across the UK. These premium shock springs are engineered specifically for the Traxxas TRX-4 platform, a legendary 1/10 scale 4WD rock crawler that demands precision suspension tuning for optimal performance on challenging terrain. Whether you're tackling rocky trails, scaling steep hillsides, or navigating technical obstacles, having the right spring rate is crucial to maintaining traction, stability and control over uneven ground.

As an authorised Traxxas retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM Traxxas components that are designed and manufactured to the exact specifications required by these vehicles. The GTS (Ground-To-Scale) shock springs represent Traxxas's commitment to authentic suspension performance, allowing drivers to fine-tune their crawler's ride height, ground clearance and suspension response. The 0.39 rate designation indicates the spring's stiffness level — a softer spring that excels in absorbing impacts from rocks, roots and rough terrain whilst maintaining consistent ground contact.

This pack includes two springs, allowing you to upgrade both front or rear shock absorbers depending on your suspension configuration and tuning strategy. The natural finish provides a clean, professional appearance whilst the distinctive orange stripe makes identification quick and easy when managing multiple spring rates. For anyone operating an RC crawler in the UK, whether for casual weekend bashing or competitive trail events, having spare springs and the ability to tune your suspension is fundamental to getting the best from your investment.

Key Features

  • GTS Specification Springs — Traxxas's GTS (Ground-To-Scale) springs are engineered to deliver authentic scale crawling characteristics, providing the right balance between comfort and control that serious RC enthusiasts demand for technical terrain navigation.
  • 0.39 Spring Rate — The 0.39 rate classification indicates these are softer springs, ideal for absorbing impacts from obstacles whilst maintaining wheel contact during elevation changes, making them perfect for rocky or rough terrain.
  • Natural Finish Construction — The natural steel finish ensures durability and longevity whilst maintaining the authentic appearance of genuine Traxxas suspension components.
  • Orange Stripe Identification — The distinctive orange stripe makes quick visual identification of the spring rate simple when managing multiple suspension configurations, saving time during setup and tuning adjustments.
  • Pair Pack (2 pcs) — Each package contains two springs, allowing you to upgrade both shock absorbers on one axle or split between front and rear depending on your suspension tuning needs.
  • TRX-4 Compatibility — These springs are engineered specifically for the legendary Traxxas TRX-4 platform, compatible with every variant including the Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne High Trail Edition, Ford F-150 Ranger XLT, 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer, 1979 Chevy Blazer, Nissan Pathfinder SE-V6, 2021 Ford Bronco, Defender, TRX-4 Sport and more.
  • OEM Quality Assurance — As genuine Traxxas components, these springs meet exact factory specifications and tolerances, ensuring perfect fitment and predictable performance on every crawling session.

Technical Performance

The TRX8044 shock springs represent the engineering excellence Traxxas is recognised for across the global RC community. At 0.39 rate, these springs occupy the softer end of the Traxxas spring spectrum, complementing the TRX-4's already-capable suspension geometry and allowing the vehicle to compress more readily when encountering obstacles. This softer rate is particularly valuable on technical terrain where maintaining consistent tyre contact with every rock, root and uneven surface is essential for forward momentum and obstacle clearing. The natural steel construction provides excellent fatigue resistance through repeated compression cycles, ensuring these springs maintain their rate and performance characteristics across hundreds of trail runs. Spring rate is measured in the resistance the spring provides to compression, and at 0.39, these springs compress more easily than stiffer options (such as the 0.45 or 0.50 rate alternatives), distributing suspension loads across a longer travel range. This characteristic is especially beneficial for 1/10 scale crawlers where scale-appropriate suspension behaviour dramatically improves realism and driver feedback. The orange stripe provides immediate visual confirmation during setup and teardown, eliminating confusion when switching between multiple spring rates or troubleshooting suspension geometry. Installation is straightforward on any standard TRX-4 shock absorber, requiring no special tools or modifications, making this an ideal upgrade for both experienced builders and those new to suspension tuning in the UK RC hobby scene.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which TRX-4 models are compatible with the TRX8044 springs? — These springs fit all Traxxas TRX-4 variants, including the Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne High Trail Edition (red, metallic blue, black and metallic copper versions), Ford F-150 Ranger XLT High Trail Edition (brown, blue and black), 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer High Trail Edition, 1979 Chevy Blazer, Nissan Pathfinder SE-V6 3S, 2021 Ford Bronco (red, white, orange and black), TRX-4 Defender (red, silver, green and sand), TRX-4 Sport (standard and Hightrail editions), and the unassembled TRX-4 chassis kit.
  • What does the 0.39 spring rate mean for my crawling experience? — The 0.39 rate indicates these are softer springs compared to stiffer alternatives like 0.45 or 0.50 rate springs. This means they compress more readily when your TRX-4 encounters rocks and obstacles, allowing longer suspension travel and better ground contact maintenance on technical terrain.
  • Should I replace springs on both axles or just one? — That depends on your tuning preference and terrain. Many UK crawlers use softer springs on the rear (where traction is critical) and slightly stiffer springs on the front (where response is valued). Since this pack includes two springs, you could upgrade one complete axle or one spring per axle depending on your setup.
  • Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, the TRX8044 is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Traxxas component, engineered and manufactured to exact Traxxas specifications. Purchasing from RC Model Shop, an authorised Traxxas retailer in the UK, guarantees you receive genuine parts with full compatibility and performance assurance.
  • How often should I replace shock springs on my TRX-4? — Springs are consumable parts that gradually lose their rate through repeated compression cycles. If your TRX-4 sits lower than it did previously, or if suspension feels less responsive, it's time to replace the springs. Many serious crawlers carry spare spring packs for different terrain types.
  • Can I mix different spring rates front and rear? — Absolutely. In fact, many experienced RC crawlers deliberately use different rates front and rear to fine-tune handling characteristics. The 0.39 rate is versatile enough to work in either position, though pairing it with a slightly stiffer rate on the opposite axle often provides balanced performance.
