Overview

The Traxxas Springs, shock (natural finish) (GTS) (0.30 rate, White stripe) (2 pcs) TRX8043 is an essential suspension upgrade for serious RC crawler and trail truck enthusiasts in the UK. These premium shock springs are engineered to deliver precise handling characteristics and improved ride quality across a wide range of terrain. Whether you're tackling technical rock crawling courses, fast-paced trail runs, or everyday bashers, having the right spring rate is fundamental to unlocking your RC vehicle's full potential. The GTS designation indicates these springs are part of Traxxas's advanced suspension tuning range, offering enthusiasts and competitive drivers the ability to fine-tune their setup for optimal performance.

This pair of 0.30 rate shock springs with white stripe identification is designed specifically for Traxxas TRX-4 models and compatible variants. The natural finish construction ensures durability whilst maintaining the classic appearance that serious RC car enthusiasts appreciate. These springs are not just cosmetic upgrades—they represent a critical tuning component that affects your vehicle's suspension geometry, weight transfer, cornering behaviour and overall ride characteristics. For UK RC hobbyists looking to move beyond stock suspension setups and into the realm of personalised vehicle tuning, these springs offer an accessible entry point into advanced setup modification.

The 0.30 rate specification makes these springs suitable for users seeking a middle-ground suspension setup. Softer than the heavier 0.45 rate springs available in the Traxxas GTS range, the 0.30 rate delivers a more compliant ride that absorbs bumps and obstacles more effectively whilst still maintaining control. This makes them ideal for mixed terrain driving where versatility matters, or for drivers who prefer a slightly softer suspension feel. Whether you operate your RC truck in urban environments across the UK, suburban parks, or dedicated RC racing venues, having the correct spring rate ensures your vehicle responds predictably to your driving inputs.

Key Features

  • 0.30 Spring Rate — This medium-softness specification provides a balanced suspension setup that absorbs impacts effectively whilst maintaining responsive vehicle control, making it suitable for a variety of terrain types and driving styles without requiring constant adjustment.
  • GTS Designation — The GTS (Grand Touring Series) shock spring classification indicates these springs meet Traxxas's advanced suspension tuning specifications and are engineered to work seamlessly with Traxxas TRX-4 shock absorbers and suspension geometry.
  • Natural Finish Construction — The natural-coloured steel construction provides excellent durability and corrosion resistance, maintaining performance over extended use whilst preserving the professional appearance valued by serious RC enthusiasts.
  • White Stripe Identification — The white stripe marking system allows instant visual identification of spring rate during setup changes or maintenance, eliminating confusion when swapping between different spring rates in a multi-car setup.
  • Two-Piece Set — This pack includes two springs, providing a matched pair for use in your TRX-4's front and rear suspension positions, ensuring consistent handling characteristics across axles.
  • TRX-4 Compatibility — These springs are engineered to work with the complete Traxxas TRX-4 range, including all body variants from Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne High Trail editions to Ford F-150 Ranger XLT models, 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer variants, 1979 Chevy Blazer editions, Nissan Pathfinder SE-V6 models, Ford Bronco crawlers, and Defender 4WD versions, plus TRX-4 Sport models.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas TRX8043 shock springs represent precision-engineered suspension components manufactured to exacting tolerances. The 0.30 rate specification indicates the spring constant—the force required to compress the spring by one unit of measurement. In practical terms, this softer rate allows greater suspension travel and more compliant movement over obstacles, which translates to improved traction on uneven terrain and reduced harshness when landing jumps or impacts. The natural finish steel construction provides the structural integrity needed to handle the demanding forces encountered during RC truck operation, whilst resisting degradation from exposure to outdoor elements common to UK climates. The two springs included in this package are precisely matched to ensure identical performance characteristics, critical for maintaining balanced suspension behaviour across your vehicle's front and rear axles. Installation into your Traxxas GTS shock absorbers is straightforward, requiring basic tools and following the suspension geometry specifications outlined in your TRX-4 manual. These springs work in conjunction with your vehicle's damping oil and shock piston configuration to create the complete suspension system that determines how your RC crawler handles different driving scenarios. For competitive drivers or those undertaking serious setup tuning, having multiple spring rate options on hand—such as both 0.30 and 0.45 rate variants—allows real-world comparison and optimisation of your specific driving style and local terrain characteristics.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 0.30 spring rate mean and how does it affect my TRX-4's handling? — The 0.30 rate represents a softer spring compared to the heavier 0.45 rate option. Softer springs compress more easily, allowing greater suspension travel and providing a more compliant ride that absorbs bumps and obstacles more effectively. This means your TRX-4 will sit slightly lower with stock-height shocks, the suspension will feel less harsh when landing impacts, and traction may improve on rough terrain because the tyres maintain contact with uneven surfaces longer. However, softer springs can also result in more body roll during cornering if not paired with appropriate anti-roll bar tuning. The 0.30 rate is ideal for mixed-terrain driving, crawler enthusiasts, and those who prioritise ride quality over aggressive cornering.
  • Which Traxxas TRX-4 models are these compatible with? — These TRX8043 springs fit all Traxxas TRX-4 variants, including the Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne High Trail Edition in red, metallic blue, black, and metallic copper finishes; the Ford F-150 Ranger XLT High Trail Edition in brown, blue, and black; the 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer High Trail Edition in blue and red; the 1979 Chevy Blazer with clipless body in black and red; the 1/10 Nissan Pathfinder SE-V6 3S models in red and silver; the 2021 Ford Bronco crawler in red, white, orange, and black; the 1/10 Defender 4WD RTR models in red, silver, green, and sand; the TRX-4 Sport in various configurations; and the TRX-4 unassembled chassis kit. Compatibility extends to both RTR (Ready to Run) and kit variants of these models.
  • Do I need any special tools to install these springs? — Installation typically requires basic tools such as a spring compression tool or vice to safely remove and install the springs into your Traxxas GTS shock absorbers. Your TRX-4 user manual contains detailed suspension service instructions including proper spring installation procedure. Taking time to correctly seat the springs ensures optimal suspension performance and safety during operation.
  • How do these 0.30 rate springs compare to the 0.45 rate option? — The primary difference lies in spring stiffness. The 0.45 rate springs are significantly stiffer and compress less easily, resulting in a higher ride height, reduced suspension travel, and a firmer feel when driving over bumps. The 0.45 rate excels in aggressive cornering situations, prevents excessive body roll, and suits drivers who prefer sharper vehicle response. The 0.30 rate, featured in this TRX8043 pack, prioritises comfort and traction by allowing more suspension movement. Choosing between them depends on your driving style and terrain—many serious racers and tuners keep both rates on hand to experiment and optimise their specific setup.
  • Are these original Traxxas parts or aftermarket replacements? — The TRX8043 are genuine Traxxas parts manufactured to OEM specifications and backed by Traxxas quality standards. Genuine parts ensure perfect fitment, consistent performance, and warranty coverage. Purchasing through authorised UK RC retailers guarantees authenticity and support.
  • How often should I replace shock springs? — Shock springs rarely wear out in normal operation and typically last the lifetime of your RC vehicle. However, if you notice reduced suspension travel, uneven ride height, or springs that no longer return to their original position when compressed, replacement becomes necessary. Springs can be damaged by significant impacts or bent if the vehicle is involved in a serious collision, but normal bashers and crawlers will rarely require spring replacement.
