Key Features
- XT90 Connector (Male) — The XT90 standard connector is one of the most popular and reliable battery connectors in modern RC applications, offering excellent current capacity and secure mating. This charge lead features a male XT90 connector that will connect directly to any battery pack equipped with a female XT90 socket, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of modern lithium polymer battery packs used in electric RC cars, trucks, buggies and crawlers throughout the UK.
- 4mm Bullet Connectors (Female) — The opposite end terminates in standard 4mm female bullet connectors, also known as banana plugs. These are the most widely used output connectors found on hobby-grade battery chargers, from budget entry-level units to professional multi-chemistry chargers. This universal compatibility means you can use this lead with virtually any 4mm-equipped charger in your collection.
- Heavy Duty Construction — Radient has engineered this lead with robust materials and quality connectors designed to withstand frequent connection and disconnection cycles. The heavy-duty rating ensures reliable performance through thousands of charge cycles without degradation or loose connections, providing peace of mind during routine battery maintenance.
- 12AWG Cable Gauge — The 12AWG wire specification indicates a substantial conductor cross-section capable of safely handling the charging currents typical of LiPo battery packs. This gauge provides excellent electrical conductivity whilst minimising voltage drop during charging, allowing your charger to deliver power efficiently to your battery.
- 150mm Length — The 150mm length is precisely calibrated to provide convenient reach between your charger and battery without excessive cable length that could create tangling or storage issues. This is the ideal working length for bench charging in a workshop or field-side quick-charge sessions.
- Lightweight Design — At just 40 grams, this charge lead adds minimal weight to your RC equipment bag, making it practical to carry multiple leads if you operate several different charger setups or travel to RC clubs and racing events around the UK.
Technical Performance
The Radient Heavy Duty XT90 to 4mm Charge Lead is engineered with meticulous attention to electrical and mechanical specifications that matter to serious RC enthusiasts. The 12AWG wire gauge is a critical specification that determines the lead's current-carrying capacity and resistance to voltage drop. At this gauge thickness, the lead is capable of safely handling charging currents typically between 50 and 100 amps, which covers the charging requirements of virtually all recreational and competitive lithium polymer battery packs used in RC vehicles. The XT90 connector type has become the industry standard for high-performance electric RC applications because of its secure bayonet-style connection mechanism, low contact resistance, and ability to handle continuous currents exceeding 90 amps. The 4mm bullet connectors on the charger end are universal across the RC hobby industry, with virtually all mainstream charger manufacturers from Spektrum to Hobbywing providing 4mm output terminals as standard. The 150mm working length is specifically designed for the typical distance between a charger sitting on a workbench and a battery positioned for safe charging. This length eliminates the strain of reaching across awkward distances whilst avoiding the excess cable that could create hazards or organisation problems in a workshop environment. The heavy-duty construction refers to quality solder joints, properly crimped connections, and robust connector housings that will not fail or degrade after hundreds of charge cycles. Whether you're charging 2S, 3S, 4S or even higher cell-count LiPo packs, this lead will perform reliably, making it an essential addition to any electric RC car, truck, buggy or crawler enthusiast's toolkit.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What batteries does the Radient XT90 to 4mm charge lead work with? — This charge lead is compatible with any lithium polymer (LiPo) battery pack fitted with a female XT90 connector, which represents the vast majority of modern electric RC batteries used in RC cars, trucks, buggies, crawlers and other electric RC vehicles throughout the UK. The XT90 connector type is the standard across competitive and recreational RC applications.
- What chargers can I use this lead with? — The 4mm bullet connector end is compatible with any hobby-grade battery charger featuring 4mm banana-style plug outputs. This includes entry-level chargers, mid-range multi-chemistry units, and professional competition-grade chargers from major manufacturers. If your charger has two small round 4mm output sockets, this lead will connect directly.
- Is the Radient charge lead suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. This lead is designed for anyone operating electric RC models with XT90 batteries and 4mm-equipped chargers. The simple plug-and-play design requires no technical knowledge or installation; simply connect the XT90 end to your battery and the 4mm end to your charger. The age recommendation of 14+ makes it suitable for teenage and adult RC enthusiasts, with adult supervision recommended for younger users.
- Why do I need a charge lead like this? — If you own multiple RC vehicles with different battery connectors, or if you use multiple chargers with varying connector types, this adapter eliminates the hassle of constantly desoldering and resoldering connectors or swapping between different leads. It provides a quick, safe and convenient way to connect XT90 batteries to standard 4mm charger outputs, saving time and reducing the risk of connector damage through repeated soldering.
- What does 12AWG wire gauge mean? — AWG (American Wire Gauge) is the standard measurement for electrical conductor thickness. 12AWG is a substantial gauge that provides excellent current-carrying capacity whilst maintaining low electrical resistance. This specification ensures that the lead can safely handle the charging currents of modern LiPo battery packs without excessive voltage drop or heat generation.
- Can I use this lead for discharging as well as charging? — Whilst this lead is specifically designed as a charging adapter, it can technically be used for discharging in appropriate applications. However, always ensure your charger or discharger is set to the correct mode and voltage rating for your specific battery type and cell count before use.
