Axial 1/30 SCX30 Ford Bronco 4X4 Rock Crawler RTR Overview
When developing the SCX30 RC crawler platform, the Axial team had two main goals in mind - to make it small and to make it high-performance. Consider both missions accomplished. At 1/30 scale, the Axial SCX30 Ford Bronco RTR is perfectly sized for crawling across your desktop or on outdoor dirt and rock trails. It also delivers oversized performance for a very affordable price, with features and capabilities you’d never expect from a sub-micro crawler.
For example, the SCX30 Ford Bronco includes an angled skid plate to let you slide easily over challenging obstacles. That’s a feature usually found only in competition crawlers. Ramped axle housings and high clearance links also help to avoid dragging and hangups. Performance on the rocks gets another boost from the climbing stability of the chassis’ forward weight bias. And there’s much more, from damped shocks, full ball bearings, and a powerful Axial 88T motor to dependable Spektrum electronics that are mounted low in the chassis for the best center of gravity.
Topping off that trail-ready engineering is a Ford Bronco ABS hard body that proves detailed scale realism can come in any size. An authentic recreation of the full-size truck, the body is complemented by front and rear LEDs and officially licensed Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tyres on ICON Nuevo wheels. The soft compound tyres with foam inserts provide all the traction needed for outdoor action on rocks and dirt or for crawling across a desktop, table, or cluttered floor. You can turn any space into your personal Rubicon trail!
If you’re among the thousands of Axial SCX24 crawling fans, the SCX30 Ford Bronco RTR will no doubt be an essential addition to your collection. It offers all Axial enthusiasts an exciting and affordable new way to adventure. For newcomers to RC rock crawling, the simplicity and value of the complete, ready-to-run package makes the Bronco an ideal way to get started.
Break new trails, not the bank, with the small rock crawler that delivers big on performance - the Axial SCX30 Ford Bronco RTR.

Technical Performance
The Axial SCX30 Ford Bronco 4X4 RTR is engineered with a composite chassis that balances durability with lightweight construction. At 1/30 scale with overall dimensions of 162mm length, 72mm width, and 71mm height, this micro vehicle is perfectly sized for desktop crawling or outdoor adventures across rocks and dirt. The brushed Axial 88T motor delivers reliable power through a carefully calculated drivetrain featuring an 11-tooth pinion, 30-tooth spur gear, and a 131.58 final drive ratio with 16.36 internal gear ratio, resulting in controlled speeds ideal for technical crawling rather than high-speed bashing. The solid axle suspension system front and rear is complemented by damped 21.5mm shocks that keep all four wheels in contact with uneven terrain. The full-time 4-wheel drive system with spool differential ensures consistent power delivery. Powered by the included Spektrum 7.4V 160mAh 2S LiPo battery with JST PH2.0 connectors, the Spektrum SCX30 SLT brushed 2-in-1 ESC and receiver handles power management efficiently, mounted low in the chassis for optimal centre of gravity. The 3.88-inch wheelbase provides excellent weight distribution and climbing angles. For a ready to run RC crawler available in the UK, the SCX30 Ford Bronco delivers exceptional engineering quality, with full ball bearings throughout, sealed connections, and professional-grade components typically found in much more expensive crawlers.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Axial SCX30 Ford Bronco suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The SCX30 is designed specifically for newcomers to RC rock crawling. The ready to run package includes everything you need, the Spektrum SLT2 transmitter features throttle limiting to build confidence gradually, and the compact 1/30 scale makes it forgiving and easy to control. Many beginners find the small size and affordable price point make it the ideal entry into the hobby.
- What battery does the SCX30 need? — The SCX30 comes with a Spektrum 7.4V 160mAh 2S LiPo battery (model SPMX-1122) that is fully charged and ready to use. The vehicle is compatible with 2S LiPo batteries, and replacement batteries are available separately if you want extended runtime or backup packs for longer sessions.
- How long does the battery take to charge? — The included USB 0.5A charger provides safe, convenient charging. For a 160mAh battery, expect approximately 20-30 minutes for a full charge from completely depleted, though we recommend following the detailed charging instructions included in the manual for optimal battery longevity.
- What is the difference between the SCX30 and other micro crawlers? — The SCX30 stands out through its professionally engineered features that usually only appear on competition-grade crawlers. The angled skid plate, ramped axle housings, forward weight bias, full ball bearings throughout, and officially licensed Ford Bronco body with detailed moulding deliver capabilities and realism unmatched in other sub-micro crawlers at this price point.
- Can I upgrade the motor or ESC? — The motor and ESC are integrated within the Spektrum system. The transmission is accessible for gear ratio changes using compatible SCX24 aftermarket parts, allowing you to adjust performance characteristics for different crawling styles.
- Is the SCX30 waterproof? — The Spektrum electronics are designed for typical rock crawling conditions, though specific waterproofing ratings are not specified. We recommend protecting the electronics from heavy water immersion, as is standard practice with most micro RC crawlers.
- Where can I crawl with the SCX30? — The compact size and tough construction mean you can crawl virtually anywhere. The soft compound tyres with foam inserts work excellently on desktops, tables, or outdoor rock and dirt terrain. Many owners report using theirs for indoor office crawling and outdoor trail use.
- What is the scale and size of the SCX30? — The 1/30 scale means the vehicle is approximately one-thirtieth the size of the real Ford Bronco. Overall dimensions are 162mm in length, 72mm in width, and 71mm in height, making it small enough to carry easily but large enough to feature impressive detail and capability.
- Is there a Grey version available? — Yes, the SCX30 Ford Bronco is available in both Blue and Grey colour options, allowing you to choose the finish that best suits your preferences.
