Technical Performance
The Traxxas High-Torque 600 represents a significant engineering achievement in servo design, combining brushless motor technology with precision metal gearing to create a steering component capable of handling the most demanding RC applications. Operating across the 6.0 to 7.4 volt range, this digital servo scales its performance beautifully with battery voltage, delivering 600 oz-in of torque at the lower voltage for standard running, whilst the full 7.4 volt configuration unleashes 705 oz-in for maximum performance scenarios. The transition between voltage levels is smooth and linear, meaning you can tailor the servo's power delivery to match your specific driving style and vehicle requirements. The brushless motor design, combined with full ball bearing support throughout the drive train, ensures that this power is delivered with precision and consistency lap after lap, run after run. At just 64 grams in weight, the servo maintains an excellent power-to-weight ratio, crucial for maintaining optimal weight distribution in competitive RC truck UK builds. The digital controller provides precise positioning and holds servo position accurately even under extreme load conditions. The finned aluminium case isn't merely cosmetic—the fins actively radiate heat away from the servo's internal components, maintaining optimal operating temperatures even during marathon bashing sessions or competitive racing events. The full metal gearing throughout the servo eliminates the weak points found in hybrid metal-and-plastic designs, meaning the High-Torque 600 can handle corner-to-corner steering authority without risk of internal gear stripping.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Traxxas High-Torque 600 truly waterproof or just water resistant? — The High-Torque 600 is completely waterproof, not water resistant. Traxxas understands the critical difference: waterproof means the servo can be fully submerged and operated in water conditions, whilst water resistant merely protects against splashing. This servo gives you genuine confidence to power through streams, bogs, and wet terrain without fear of water ingress damaging your steering system.
- What vehicles is this servo compatible with? — The High-Torque 600 is compatible with most Traxxas 1/10 and 1/8 scale electric models. Specifically, it's recommended for high-demand vehicles including Sledge, Raptor R, Revo, and lifted TRX-4 models with 2.2-inch wheels and tyres. For TRX-4 installation, you must use the high-power BEC Kit 2262. It's also compatible with Traxxas nitro models using rechargeable 5-cell battery packs, and with Maxx models using adapter 7749 and servo arm from 5345R. This servo is not recommended for X-Maxx or XRT vehicles.
- What is the difference between 6 volt and 7.4 volt operation? — Operating at 6.0 volts, the servo delivers 600 oz-in of torque with a 0.13 second per 60-degree response time. Upgrading to 7.4 volts increases torque to 705 oz-in and dramatically improves response speed to 0.09 seconds per 60 degrees. This means 7.4 volt operation provides both more steering power and significantly faster steering response, making it ideal for competitive racing where quick reaction time is critical. However, 6 volts remains perfectly adequate for general bashing and recreational use.
- Do I need the BEC kit for all installations? — The high-power BEC Kit 2262 is specifically required for TRX-4 installation. The BEC boosts receiver power for this demanding servo, and the kit includes a larger receiver box cover to maintain full waterproof integrity, plus a Y-harness for vehicles with LED light kits. For other compatible vehicles, check your specific model's requirements, though many standard Traxxas receivers can handle this servo without additional power management.
- How does the High-Torque 600 compare to a standard 2075 servo? — The High-Torque 600 delivers almost 5 times the power of a standard 2075 servo, making it an essential upgrade for vehicles that struggle with steering authority or that have upgraded to larger tyres and heavier bodies. The 2075 is fine for stock vehicles, but if you're running lifted trucks, large wheels, or competing in racing, the High-Torque 600's additional power is transformative.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst the High-Torque 600 is an advanced servo offering premium performance, it is suitable for beginners in the sense that installation is straightforward and drop-in compatible with most Traxxas models. However, beginners should note that this servo is typically an upgrade component for vehicles that already exist, rather than part of an entry-level package. Once installed, the servo requires no special operation or tuning knowledge beyond standard servo setup.
- What battery voltage should I use? — The High-Torque 600 operates across the 6.0 to 7.4 volt range. For general use, a standard 5-cell NiMH battery pack (6 volts) works perfectly. For maximum performance, you can upgrade to a 7.4 volt LiPo battery (2S configuration), which provides both increased torque and faster response speed. Ensure your radio system and other components support your chosen voltage configuration.
- How fast is the servo response time? — At 6.0 volts, the servo responds in just 0.13 seconds per 60 degrees, which is quite quick. At 7.4 volts, response time drops dramatically to 0.09 seconds per 60 degrees, providing the rapid steering input that competitive RC car UK racers require. This quick response works exceptionally well with TSM-equipped vehicles for precise, responsive handling.
- Why is the finned aluminium case important? — The finned case actively dissipates heat generated during servo operation, particularly important during extended running sessions or sustained high-load steering inputs. By maintaining lower operating temperatures, the servo delivers consistent performance throughout your run without performance degradation caused by heat buildup. This is especially valuable during competitive racing where consistent servo response is critical.
