Tamiya welcomes a re-released and updated version of the 4WD buggy Hotshot II, the original of which was first released in 1987, following Tamiya’s first 4WD buggy Item 58047 Hotshot released in 1985 and Item 58054 Supershot released in 1986.
The Hotshot II was a lightweight design thanks to its use of plastic parts.
This is a 1/10 scale R/C model assembly kit. Length: 390mm, width: 235mm, height: 160mm.
The shaft-driven 4WD gives speed and stability off road, and through corners.
The 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension employs CVA oil dampers (II) (one for front and two for rear) with a front stabilizer to help get the most out of the 4-wheel drive.
Dynamic body and rear wing are lightweight polycarbonate (0.7mm thick), and use a colour scheme featuring orange lines on a black base. Polycarbonate body is pre-cut and pre-painted in black.
Gearboxes are sealed to keep out dirt and sand, and contain differentials for smooth cornering.
Sections such as ABS monocoque frame and suspension arms feature reinforced plastic for high durability.
Semi-pneumatic oval block / pin spike hybrid tires are paired with large-diameter one-piece nylon wheel.
Includes updated stickers
Includes 540 motor and ESC

What makes the Tamiya Hotshot II TAM58737 4WD buggy ideal for off-road terrain?
The Tamiya Hotshot II TAM58737 4WD buggy features a shaft-driven 4WD system with sealed front and rear gearboxes, each housing a differential for smooth cornering. This configuration ensures reliable power delivery and protection against debris, making it suitable for dirt tracks, gravel paths, and rough terrain. The underguard shields the underside of the chassis, while the front stabiliser and CVA oil dampers work together to maintain balance and control during aggressive driving.
How does the suspension system improve handling on tough surfaces?
The CVA oil dampers Hotshot II R/C car setup includes three dampers—one at the front and two at the rear—paired with a 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension. This arrangement allows each wheel to respond individually to terrain changes, reducing bounce and improving grip. The front monoshock suspension uses a single CVA oil damper to control roll, while the rear employs H-shaped arms and dog bone drive shafts for durability and articulation.
Is the pre-painted polycarbonate body Hotshot II ready for assembly?
Yes, the pre-painted polycarbonate body Hotshot II is fully pre-cut and finished in sleek black, eliminating the need for painting or trimming. The rear wing is also pre-painted and cut, allowing users to focus on assembly and performance tuning. The included sticker set adds vibrant orange and yellow race graphics, enhancing the visual appeal and authenticity of the build.
What are the wheel and tyre specifications of the Tamiya Hotshot II (2024) R/C buggy TAM58737?
The Tamiya Hotshot II (2024) R/C buggy TAM58737 comes equipped with white dish wheels of varying widths front and rear. Each wheel is paired with semi-pneumatic oval block tyres designed for off-road grip and shock absorption. The front tyres measure 31mm in width and 88mm in diameter, while the rear tyres are 38mm wide with the same diameter, offering a balanced footprint for traction and stability.
How does the drivetrain support performance and customisation?
The shaft-driven 4WD Tamiya Hotshot II buggy includes selectable gear ratios—10.04:1, 8.70:1, 8.16:1, and 7.68:1—allowing users to tailor acceleration and top speed to their driving style. The 3-bevel differential gears provide smooth power distribution, while the 2-piece steering tie-rod enhances directional control. This drivetrain setup supports both casual driving and competitive tuning, making it versatile for various skill levels.
What components are required to complete the Hotshot II R/C car?
To complete the 1/10 scale Tamiya Hotshot II R/C car, users will need a 2-channel R/C system with an electronic speed controller (ESC), a battery pack, compatible charger, and AA batteries for the transmitter. These components are sold separately, allowing for personalised configuration based on user preference and budget. The modular design of the buggy supports upgrades and long-term performance enhancements.
