- No Memory Effect and Low Self-Discharge — Unlike older battery chemistry, this LiPo delivers more charge cycles and an extended lifespan, minimising downtime between sessions and allowing you to top up your battery at any time without losing capacity.
- JST-XH Balance Connector — This standard balance connector allows your charger to monitor and adjust each cell individually during the charging process, ensuring all three cells remain perfectly balanced, which keeps your battery healthy and extends its operational life.
- Sport Series Design — Engineered for affordability and reliability in everyday use, this battery brings professional-grade performance and safety to casual RC enthusiasts, weekend bashers and hobbyists who want dependable power without premium pricing.
Technical Performance
This 3S LiPo battery delivers exceptional technical performance through careful engineering and precision manufacturing. With a maximum constant current rating of 45A (based on the 25C discharge rate applied to 1800mAh capacity) and burst capability reaching 81A, this battery provides the responsive power delivery needed for sport planes, aerobatic aircraft and racing drones. The 19.98 watt-hour (Wh) energy storage is calculated from the 1800mAh capacity multiplied by the 11.1V nominal voltage, offering genuine runtime for smaller RC models whilst maintaining a weight of just 137 grams. The battery uses 14AWG (2.5mm) gauge wire leads, which are appropriately sized to handle the maximum current without excessive voltage drop or heat generation. Construction utilises Lithium Polymer chemistry with ultra-precision cell matching, ensuring that each of the three cells maintains consistent voltage and internal resistance throughout the charge and discharge cycles. The ultrasonic welding of nickel and aluminium connection tabs creates permanently bonded joints that resist vibration and fatigue far better than traditional soldering, making this battery suitable for the rigorous demands of RC flying and driving. The JST-XH balance connector allows professional-grade cell balancing during charging, which is essential for maintaining pack health and performance longevity. Available dimensions of 89 x 34 x 21mm ensure compatibility with compact RC models whilst the protective padding offers real-world durability against the inevitable bumps and knocks of RC use. Whether powering aerobatic 3D flying, high-speed racing, or casual sport flying and driving, this battery is engineered to deliver consistent, safe performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Overlander 1800mAh 3S LiPo suitable for RC planes and drones in the UK? — Yes, absolutely. This battery is specifically designed and marketed for sport planes, aerobatic models and lightweight drones. The 1800mAh capacity keeps total weight down, which is critical for flight performance, whilst the 3S 11.1V output delivers sufficient power for responsive, agile flying across these applications. The compact 89 x 34 x 21mm dimensions fit neatly into smaller airframes.
- What is the difference between the 25C continuous rating and 45C burst rating? — The 25C continuous rating indicates how much current this battery can safely deliver for extended periods during normal flying or driving without risk of damage or overheating. This means the battery can deliver 45 amps continuously (25C × 1.8A per cell). The 45C burst rating is a temporary power boost that activates for short bursts when you need maximum acceleration or aggressive manoeuvres, allowing the battery to deliver up to 81 amps for a few seconds. Think of continuous rating as your everyday power, and burst as your turbo mode for brief moments of intense performance.
- Can I use this battery with my RC car or will it damage my electronics? — You must verify that your RC car's motor, speed controller (ESC) and other electronics are compatible with 3S 11.1V operation. Not all RC cars are designed to accept this voltage—some may be rated for 2S only. Always check your model's manufacturer specifications before connecting a 3S battery. If your vehicle is rated for 3S operation, this 1800mAh pack will work reliably, though runtime will depend on your motor and driving style.
- How long will this battery last per charge? — Runtime depends entirely on how you use it. Factors include motor size and type, weight of your model, flying or driving style, and throttle usage. A smaller, lighter model flying smoothly will achieve longer runtimes than a heavier model flown aggressively. As a general guide, expect 15-20 minutes of mixed flying in a sport plane, or 20-30 minutes of casual driving in an RC car, though actual times will vary significantly based on your setup and usage.
- What charger do I need to safely charge this battery? — You must use a dedicated LiPo balance charger capable of charging 3S (11.1V) LiPo packs. The balance charger is essential—it monitors each of the three cells individually and ensures they charge to exactly the same voltage, which keeps your battery healthy and prevents dangerous overvoltage conditions. Never attempt to charge this battery on a regular charger or with incorrect settings, as this risks overcharging, cell imbalance and serious safety hazards. Always set your charger to LiPo mode and never use NiMH or NiCd settings.
- How should I store this battery between sessions? — Store your LiPo at approximately 50% charge (around 3.7V to 3.85V per cell) in a cool, dry place away from heat, direct sunlight and moisture. Never leave the battery fully charged or completely drained for extended periods, as both conditions stress the cells and reduce lifespan. If you're not using the battery for several weeks, check the charge every couple of months and perform a quick top-up or discharge to that 50% sweet spot. Always store in a LiPo safety charge sack for added fire protection.
- Why is the XT60 connector important and widely used? — The XT60 is one of the most popular connector standards in the RC hobby because it's specifically engineered to handle high currents safely. Unlike smaller connectors, the XT60 provides low resistance, which means minimal voltage drop and heat generation during power transfer. The design includes a robust, secure fit that greatly reduces the chances of accidental disconnection, which is critical when you're flying or racing and need absolute power reliability. If your model uses a different connector (Deans, EC3, etc.), you'll need an adapter cable or a compatible charger.
- What makes Overlander batteries different from other brands? — Overlander LiPo batteries are manufactured with high-quality Fullymax cells that are precision-matched for internal resistance, voltage and weight. This careful matching ensures consistent energy output, reduces overheating risk and extends battery lifespan compared to batteries made from mismatched cells. Each pack undergoes industrial-grade testing with equipment that matches internal resistance using calibrated instruments, ensures weight precision with performance scales, and carefully aligns voltage levels. The ultrasonic welding of nickel and aluminium tabs creates permanently bonded joints far stronger than soldering. Additionally, Overlander's focus on no memory effect and low self-discharge chemistry means you get more charge cycles before the battery requires replacement.
- Can I use this 3S battery with a 2S-only model? — No, absolutely not. Using a 3S 11.1V battery in a 2S-only model will damage the electronics instantly and may cause fires or explosions. A 2S model is designed for 7.4V maximum, so connecting 11.1V will overvolt the motor, speed controller and receiver, destroying them. Always verify your model supports 3S operation before connecting this battery. If your model is 2S-only, you must purchase a 2S battery instead.
- Is this battery suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is an excellent choice for RC beginners. The 3S 11.1V configuration is the most popular voltage across the RC hobby, so your model is likely already compatible if it's a modern sport plane, racing drone, or casual RC car. The 25C continuous discharge rate is perfectly safe for beginner use, and the battery's no-memory-effect chemistry means you can charge it without worry about capacity loss. However, you must use a proper LiPo balance charger and follow safety guidelines—never use a regular charger or charge unattended. The padded design also provides some durability against accidental drops.
- What is watt-hour rating and why does it matter? — Watt-hours (Wh) represent the total energy stored in the battery and are calculated by multiplying capacity in amp-hours by voltage in volts. This Overlander pack stores 19.98Wh, calculated as 1.8Ah × 11.1V. Wh is useful because it gives you a real-world measure of energy, making it easier to compare batteries. A higher Wh rating means more total energy, which typically translates to longer runtime, though actual flight or drive time also depends on motor efficiency and load.
