The Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE for Crawler 1800kv 540 Spec represents a major breakthrough in integrated brushless motor and ESC technology for serious rock crawler enthusiasts across the UK. This combined speed control and motor package has been specifically engineered for 1/10th scale rock crawling vehicles, offering an all-in-one solution that simplifies your build whilst delivering exceptional performance on technical terrain. Whether you're tackling steep hillsides, navigating rocky obstacles, or competing in crawler-specific events, this brushless RC motor and ESC combo delivers the precision control and reliability that dedicated crawlers demand.

What sets the Fusion SE apart in the competitive world of brushless RC crawler equipment is its revolutionary FOC (Field-Oriented Control) technology, a proven design heritage that has genuinely transformed the crawling segment. Unlike conventional brushless systems, the FOC-powered Fusion SE operates at significantly lower temperatures whilst delivering extended runtimes, making it ideal for marathon crawling sessions or full-day track days. The nearly silent operation means you can enjoy your rock crawler without excessive noise, whilst the exceptional low-RPM control gives you smooth, predictable power delivery at all throttle positions. This is the kind of precision control that serious UK crawler enthusiasts have been waiting for.

Built tough for the demands of daily RC bashing, the Fusion SE combines intelligent electronics with robust, durable construction. Its compact 58mm length has been carefully optimised to fit into more vehicles than previous models, giving builders greater flexibility when integrating this powerhouse into their crawler setups. The waterproof IP-67 rating means your investment is protected against mud, water, dust and the unpredictable British weather, allowing you to push boundaries both on competition tracks and during casual weekend bashing sessions.

Key Features

  • FOC (Field-Oriented Control) Technology — This game-changing control method has revolutionised the crawler segment by delivering extreme efficiency that generates minimal heat, keeps operating temperatures low, and extends your runtimes significantly compared to traditional brushless systems. The almost silent operation provides amazing power and response at all speeds whilst offering extraordinarily low RPM control that conventional brushless motors simply cannot match.
  • Intelligent Torque Output Control — The built-in FOC ESC features smart torque management that automatically adjusts motor output and RPM to match your driving inputs, ensuring your crawler responds perfectly to throttle inputs in real-time. This closed-loop system allows the ESC to automatically increase torque when climbing steep inclines and reduce output when descending, giving you elegant posture control on slopes and precise vehicle management in demanding terrain.
  • Unmatched Hill-Holding Capability — With 8 distinct levels of drag brake force (power) and 9 levels of drag brake rate adjustment, you can fine-tune your vehicle's hill-holding power to suit your specific driving style and terrain conditions. The maximum drag brake force is approximately 2 times more powerful than ordinary brushless systems, providing superior ramp parking skills and confidence when working technical hillside features.
  • IP-67 Waterproof and Dustproof Rating — Designed to withstand all weather and track conditions, this waterproof ESC offers comprehensive splash, water and dust resistance under normal use conditions, protecting against mud, sand, ice, snow and water crossings. This means your brushless crawler electronics remain reliable whether you're driving through wet British moorlands or tackling dry, dusty track conditions.
  • Compact 58mm Integrated Design — The space-saving form factor has been shortened to allow it to fit into more vehicles than comparable systems, with an aesthetically appealing appearance that provides a cleaner, sleeker layout in your crawler chassis. This shorter overall length gives builders spacious, easier assembly processes without compromising on performance or durability.
  • Electronic Switch Reliability — Unlike traditional mechanical switches, the Fusion SE uses solid-state electronic buttons that eliminate wear patterns and ensure a dramatically longer lifespan. Heavy impacts and harsh surface conditions no longer risk damaging critical switches, allowing you to enjoy aggressive bashing without concern for premature component failure.
  • Quality Construction and Durability — Silicon rubber gaskets, electronic buttons and quality hardware throughout ensure exceptional longevity, whilst the motor has been engineered to take the abuse and demanding conditions of daily RC basher activity. This is built-to-last equipment designed for serious hobbyists who expect their crawler setup to perform reliably season after season.

The Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE delivers outstanding technical specifications that place it at the forefront of integrated crawler motor and ESC systems available to UK hobbyists. This is a 1/10th scale brushless sensored motor with a 1800kv rating paired with a 40-amp continuous ESC capable of handling peak currents of 120 amps, providing genuine performance headroom for technical climbing and obstacle work. The motor features a 36mm diameter × 58.1mm length package with a 3.175mm bore and exposed shaft length of 16.5mm, delivering four poles of smooth, responsive torque across the entire speed range.

Power delivery is compatible with 2-3S LiPo batteries or 6-9 cell NiMh packs, with a maximum LiPo voltage rating of 11.1V (3S configuration), giving you flexibility in battery choice depending on your weight and gearing preferences. The integrated BEC (Battery Elimination Circuit) outputs 6V or 7.4V at up to 4 amps continuous (6 amps peak), where the 7.4V output is available only when using 3S LiPo batteries, providing sufficient servo power for crawler applications. The wiring comes terminated with an XT60 connector on 14AWG gauge power leads of 200mm length, offering safe current handling and easy battery integration. The motor and ESC are supplied as a matched pair with 200mm input power wires, allowing straightforward installation into your chassis.

Programming is handled via a dedicated program port accessed through the switch position, with support for the LCD G2 Program Box for advanced configuration of the intelligent torque output, drag brake force and drag brake rate parameters. The engineering approach prioritises simplicity and reliability, with firmware that cannot be updated via OTA (Over-The-Air) methods, ensuring your settings remain precisely configured. Total weight including wires and connectors is just 201 grams, making this an exceptionally compact solution for integrated crawler powerplants that delivers the performance characteristics of much larger systems in a footprint designed to fit tight chassis configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE suitable for beginners learning rock crawling? — This is an excellent choice for hobbyists of all experience levels. Whilst the integrated brushless system and FOC technology represent advanced engineering, the Intelligent Torque Output control system actually makes the crawler more predictable and easier to control than traditional brushless setups. Beginners will benefit from the smooth power delivery, precise low-RPM control, and excellent hill-holding capability, making it easier to learn technical crawling techniques. The nearly silent operation and cool-running characteristics mean longer uninterrupted practice sessions.
  • What battery does the Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE 1800kv need, and how many cells? — The Fusion SE accepts 2-3S LiPo batteries (6-9 cell NiMh packs), with a maximum voltage rating of 11.1V for 3S LiPo configuration. Most UK crawler enthusiasts favour 2S LiPo setups for maximum runtime and smooth power characteristics, though 3S provides additional power for technical climbing. The integrated BEC outputs 6V or 7.4V (3S only) at up to 6 amps peak, so you won't need a separate battery eliminator circuit for servo power.
  • How does FOC technology improve rock crawler performance compared to standard brushless motors? — Field-Oriented Control (FOC) is genuinely revolutionary for crawling applications. Compared to standard brushless systems, FOC delivers extreme efficiency that generates significantly less heat and extends runtime considerably. The nearly silent operation provides smooth, predictable power at all throttle positions with exceptionally low RPM control, allowing ultra-precise speed modulation over obstacles. The smart torque output system automatically manages power delivery during climbs and descents, providing dramatically improved response and control that makes technical climbing more predictable and manageable.
  • What makes the Fusion SE's hill-holding capability superior to conventional brushless crawlers? — The intelligent drag brake system features 8 levels of drag brake force (power) and 9 levels of brake rate adjustment, allowing comprehensive fine-tuning for any terrain or driving preference. Maximum drag brake force is approximately 2 times stronger than typical brushless setups, providing exceptional hill-holding power and ramp parking skills. This means your crawler stays exactly where you position it on steep terrain, building confidence when tackling demanding hillside features.
  • Is the Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE waterproof, and can I drive through water with confidence? — Yes, the Fusion SE carries an IP-67 waterproof and dustproof rating, providing comprehensive splash, water and dust resistance under normal use conditions. Important note: whilst IP-67 provides excellent protection, extended soaking is not recommended, and the effectiveness of waterproof protection may decline over time due to normal aging. Avoid prolonged submersion and rinse with fresh water after muddy sessions.
  • What's the difference between the 1200kv and 1800kv versions of the Quicrun Fusion SE? — The primary difference is motor speed: the 1800kv version (this model) spins faster than the 1200kv alternative, providing quicker acceleration and slightly higher overall vehicle speed. The 1800kv is ideal if you want snappier throttle response and more dynamic power delivery for technical terrain. The 1200kv offers lower maximum speeds but potentially better torque characteristics at very low speeds. Choose based on your vehicle's gearing, weight and preferred driving style.
  • Can I program the drag brake settings and other parameters on the Fusion SE? — Yes, the ESC supports programming via an independent programming interface accessed through the switch position. You'll need an optional LCD G2 Program Box to adjust the 8 drag brake force levels, 9 drag brake rate settings, and other advanced parameters. This allows you to customise hill-holding capability, torque delivery and brake characteristics to precisely match your specific vehicle, weight distribution and driving preferences.
  • Is this a ready-to-run kit, or do I need other components? — The Fusion SE is an integrated motor and ESC combo, not a complete ready-to-run vehicle. You'll need a 1/10th scale rock crawler chassis, radio system, servo, battery pack and charger to complete your setup. The Fusion SE eliminates the need to choose and match separate motor and ESC components, simplifying your build process significantly.
