Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ESC does the Firma 1200Kv 1/6 Sensored Motor require? — This sensored brushless motor requires the Spektrum Firma 120A Sensored Brushless Smart Crawler ESC to operate. The sensored motor design provides real-time feedback to the ESC, allowing it to deliver optimised performance with field-oriented control technology. Non-sensored ESCs cannot properly utilise this motor's capabilities, so using a compatible sensored ESC is essential.
  • What battery power should I use with this 1200Kv crawler motor? — The Firma 1200Kv motor is designed to run on 2S, 3S, or 4S LiPo battery packs. The specific battery capacity and discharge rating will depend on your particular crawler platform and driving style. Lower cell-count batteries (2S) will provide more torque-oriented performance, whilst higher cell counts (3S or 4S) will increase top-end speed. Always consult your crawler's manufacturer recommendations for optimal battery specifications.
  • Is this motor suitable for beginners or experienced crawlers only? — Whilst this is a high-performance, precision-engineered motor ideal for serious crawler enthusiasts, its straightforward installation (with colour-coded sensor wires and polarity protection) makes it accessible to intermediate and advanced RC drivers. However, beginners should ensure they have a compatible sensored ESC and understand brushless motor setup before attempting installation. If you're new to RC crawling, we recommend consulting our experienced team at RC Model Shop for guidance.
  • What makes the 5684 can size important for 1/6 scale crawlers? — The large 5684 can size provides sufficient internal volume for a substantial stator and rotor, allowing for optimised magnetic field strength, efficient copper winding design, and excellent heat dissipation characteristics. This larger size is specifically engineered for the demanding torque requirements of giant scale crawlers, ensuring the motor can deliver consistent power during rock crawling, climbing, and sustained off-road driving without thermal degradation.
