Return of the Frog!
First introduced in 1983, the 2WD racing buggy Frog made a huge splash with its eye-catching design and high performance running. The Frog now makes a comeback, updated for a new age, but with its basic structure essentially unchanged. Preserving its characteristic space frame, the oil dampers for trailing-arm type rear suspension have been updated to diaphragm type. Rear drive shaft features dogbone type joint for secure power transmission. Sleek polycarbonate body remains the same, while 3-piece wheels feature front grooved and rear spike tires for excellent off-road running.
2WD Chassis Packed with Innovation
Electric R/C racing buggy features ABS space frame and nylon suspension and bumper for a lightweight yet rugged form that is perfect for off road running. Battery is held in ultra-low position, giving this car the stability and weight balance to handle rough terrain and wild jumps. Advanced 4-wheel independent suspension composed of front double wishbone type featuring in-board spring and durable steel radius arm. Rear trailing arm type features horizontally mounted aluminum cylinder oil dampers for effective shock absorbtion. Sealed differential gearbox ensures high speed cornering, while full gearbox ball bearings and 3-step gear ratio secures maximum transmission efficiency.

How does the RS-540 motor enhance off-road performance?
The Tamiya TAM58354 electric buggy with 4-wheel independent suspension and 3-step gear ratio transmission comes equipped with a factory-installed RS-540 motor, a proven power unit in Tamiya’s electric racing lineup. This motor delivers consistent torque and acceleration, making it ideal for navigating rough terrain, executing jumps, and maintaining speed through corners. Its compatibility with the sealed gearbox ensures efficient power transfer while protecting internal components from dust and grit. Whether racing across dirt tracks or tackling backyard trails, the RS-540 motor provides the thrust needed for competitive off-road driving.
What makes the suspension system ideal for rugged terrain?
The 2WD racing buggy with front double wishbone suspension and rear trailing arm with aluminum oil dampers features a fully independent 4-wheel suspension setup. At the front, double wishbone arms with in-board springs and steel radius rods offer precise steering and shock absorption. The rear trailing arm configuration incorporates horizontally mounted aluminum diaphragm dampers, replacing the original oil units for improved response and durability. This combination allows each wheel to react independently to terrain changes, maintaining traction and stability during aggressive maneuvers and uneven landings.
How does the chassis contribute to durability and control?
The Tamiya TAM58354 off-road racing buggy with ABS space frame, polycarbonate body, and spike rear tires is built around a rigid ABS space frame that balances weight and strength. This structural design resists flexing under load while protecting internal components during impacts. The ultra-low battery mount lowers the center of gravity, enhancing stability and cornering precision. The polycarbonate body adds aerodynamic styling and shields the chassis from debris, while the nylon bumper and suspension parts absorb shocks from jumps and collisions. Together, these elements create a platform that’s both lightweight and resilient—perfect for off-road racing conditions.
What drivetrain features support high-speed handling?
The RC buggy with dogbone rear drive shaft, ultra-low battery mount, and full ball bearing drivetrain incorporates a sealed differential gearbox that maintains consistent traction during cornering. The dogbone-style rear drive shaft ensures secure power transmission from motor to wheels, reducing slippage and wear. Full ball bearings throughout the drivetrain minimize friction, improving efficiency and extending component life. The 3-step gear ratio transmission allows users to fine-tune performance based on terrain and driving style, offering flexibility for both speed-focused and torque-heavy setups.
What are the dimensions and tire specifications?
The Tamiya TAM58354 with 410mm length, 240mm width, and 145mm height for 1/10 scale off-road performance is sized for competitive racing and backyard bashing alike. Its 1,020mm wheelbase provides a stable footprint, while the tire setup—73mm front grooved tires and 88mm rear spike tires—delivers grip across loose surfaces and uneven ground. The wide stance and balanced proportions contribute to predictable handling, making the buggy suitable for both novice drivers and seasoned hobbyists seeking a nostalgic yet capable platform.
Why choose this limited edition for your collection or track?
The best electric off-road buggy with ABS space frame, aluminum dampers, and dogbone rear drive shaft blends vintage design with modern engineering.
