Why choose the Tamiya XR311 2WD R/C buggy TAM58004 for off-road performance?

The Tamiya XR311 Combat Support Vehicle TAM58004 is engineered for off-road control and scale realism. Its 2WD layout with a rear-mounted brushed Type 540 motor ensures responsive handling across uneven surfaces. The duralumin 52S chassis provides structural integrity while maintaining a lightweight profile, making it ideal for rugged terrain. With a wheelbase of 260mm and a clearance of 15mm, the buggy navigates obstacles with ease, supported by balloon-pattern tyres that offer grip and shock absorption.

What makes the Tamiya TAM58004 1/12 scale R/C military model stand out?

Unlike generic off-road kits, the Tamiya TAM58004 1/12 scale R/C military model with suspension includes a highly detailed injection-moulded body that replicates the original combat support vehicle. The inclusion of interior parts and a driver figure elevates the realism, making it a standout piece for display and performance. The 2-piece steering tie-rod system ensures precise control, while the symmetrical layout of the ESC and receiver around the battery enhances balance and stability during operation.

Is the Tamiya XR311 off-road 2WD buggy with adjustable suspension suitable for hobbyists?

Absolutely. The Tamiya XR311 off-road 2WD buggy with adjustable suspension is designed for hobbyists who appreciate both technical depth and historical significance. Its double wishbone suspension system, featuring upper and lower H-arms and metal torsion bar springs, allows for fine-tuned terrain response. The absence of dampers is compensated by the torsion bar setup, offering a unique mechanical feel that reflects the original 1977 design. With three gear ratio options (9.3:1, 16:1, 21:1), users can tailor performance to their driving style.

How does the Tamiya XR311 Combat Support Vehicle with rear-wheel drive deliver balance?

The Tamiya XR311 Combat Support Vehicle with rear-wheel drive features a centrally mounted battery flanked by the ESC and receiver, creating a symmetrical weight distribution that enhances handling. The rear-wheel drive layout, combined with a 3-bevel differential and 2-piece steering tie-rod, ensures smooth cornering and reliable traction. The 29mm wide tyres with a 75mm diameter and balloon tread pattern further contribute to stability and grip on off-road surfaces.

What are the build and compatibility considerations for the Tamiya XR311 2WD R/C buggy TAM58004?

The Tamiya XR311 2WD R/C buggy TAM58004 is supplied as an unassembled kit, offering a rewarding build experience for intermediate-level hobbyists. It is compatible with Finespec FM Radio Control Systems and requires R6/AA/UM3 batteries for the transmitter. The chassis accommodates standard 7.2V stick-type battery packs, making it easy to integrate into existing setups. With a tread width of 140mm front and 144mm rear, and camber, caster, and toe angles all set to zero, the buggy maintains a neutral and predictable handling profile.
