"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently... while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
1997, Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Inc., delivered this speech in the Apple advertisement titled "Think Different."
The world has never been short of "crazy ones" who appear in various fields in different forms. They are not satisfied with the status quo, they have "wild ideas," and they bring endless possibilities to the world. The idea of building an off-road vehicle that combines the contradictory performance of "high-speed off-roading" and "extreme climbing" to challenge the most torturous off-road races on Earth was initially such a "wild idea," but someone turned it into reality.
Every February, at Means Dry Lake in Johnson Valley, California, a feast awaits a group of brave racing enthusiasts, a combination of desert racing and rock crawling in an off-road race. The structure of the racing vehicles typically features an exposed roll cage that supports a full-time four-wheel-drive system, coupled with a long-travel suspension kit. These vehicles can reach speeds exceeding 200 kilometers per hour, with a high acceleration ratio that allows them to effortlessly dominate hardcore off-road vehicles in extreme rock crawling.
Based on the FCX24 chassis, equipped with a roll cage body, the Lemur is exactly this kind of unstoppable racing vehicle.
FCX24 is positioned as a high-performance crawler chassis. The car frame is made of high-strength nylon. Compared with the trapezoidal beam spliced by metal side beams and plastic trusses, the overall weight is lighter, and the strength is higher. The mid-mounted power assembly has a low center of gravity and integrates the 2-speed transmission, transfer case and 130 motor. The power is transmitted to the front and rear axles through the universal joint drive shaft. The axles are equipped with wheel side reducers, commonly known as "portal axle", which can increase the ground clearance of the differential tooth pack and improve the drive ability.
The crawlers are generally equipped with front and rear straight axles to simulate the locked state of the real car differential to improve off-road drive ability. The FCX24 is equipped with a straight axle by default, but the planetary gear differential can also be replaced with high-viscosity silicone oil to simulate the driving effect of an LSD limited-slip differential. After installing the differential, the ultimate climbing ability will be reduced, but a smaller turning radius and a more stable high-speed driving quality can be obtained. Simply put, the straight axle is suitable for extreme climbing, and the limited-slip differential is suitable for high-speed off-road. The choice is yours.
The two-speed gearbox uses the CH3 of the remote control and is operated by a 9G steering gear. The low gear reduction ratio is 99, which is larger than that of similar products currently on the market. The torque output is strong, and easy for extreme climbing. The high gear reduction ratio is 24.75, and the speed is higher than that of all similar products currently on the market.
A variety of upgraded and modified parts such as metal link rods, metal differential, metal universal joint drive shaft, metal gears, and brass wheel counterweights, etc. have been launched to match the FCX24 chassis for further improving the performance of the vehicle.
With its compact body, the Lemur can effortlessly conquer ravines and valleys constructed from everyday items like laptops, keyboards, and mobile phones, providing indoor entertainment. However, it is in the outdoor natural terrain where it truly shines. Just like a genuine extreme racing car, the Lemur carries its "driver" and "navigator" and supported by a sturdy and durable ABS nylon roll cage, can traverse fields and furrows at high speed and crawl over bricks and stones at a slow pace. The swirling dust kicked up by its wheels and the roar of the engine bear witness to its wild, untamed, and unrestrained off-road journeys.

How does the two-speed transmission enhance performance?
At the heart of the FMS FMS12404RTROR lies a mid-mounted brushed motor paired with a 2-speed gearbox, operated via CH3 on the remote control. This transmission system allows drivers to toggle between two distinct driving modes. In low gear, the reduction ratio of 99 delivers exceptional torque, enabling the FMS FCX24 Lemur to climb steep inclines and navigate technical rock formations with ease. In high gear, the ratio drops to 24.75, unlocking faster speeds than any comparable mini crawler currently available. This dual-mode capability makes the FMS FMS12404RTROR suitable for both slow, controlled crawling and rapid desert-style racing, offering unmatched versatility in its class.
Why are portal axles with metal gears a game-changer?
The inclusion of portal axles in the FMS FMS12404RTROR significantly elevates its off-road capabilities. These axles feature wheel-side reducers that raise the differential housing, increasing ground clearance and reducing the risk of hang-ups on rocks and debris. The metal gear construction ensures long-term reliability and efficient power transfer, even under high torque loads. This design mirrors full-scale off-road racing vehicles, allowing the FMS FCX24 Lemur to maintain traction and stability across challenging terrain. Whether crawling over bricks or sprinting across gravel, the portal axles provide the mechanical advantage needed for superior performance.
What makes the ABS nylon roll cage ideal for extreme conditions?
Durability is a cornerstone of the FMS FCX24 Lemur, and the ABS nylon roll cage plays a pivotal role in its rugged design. Unlike traditional metal trusses or plastic beams, the roll cage is constructed from high-strength nylon, offering a lighter weight without compromising structural integrity. This material choice enhances the crawler’s ability to absorb impacts and resist deformation during high-speed runs or tumbles over rocky terrain. The exposed roll cage also adds visual realism, echoing the design of full-scale racing crawlers seen at events like the Means Dry Lake challenge in Johnson Valley. For drivers seeking a crawler that can withstand punishment while maintaining agility, the FMS FMS12404RTROR delivers.
How does the four-link suspension improve articulation?
The four-link suspension system on the FMS FCX24 Lemur is engineered for maximum articulation and stability. Each link is strategically positioned to allow the wheels to move independently, maintaining contact with uneven surfaces and improving traction. This setup is particularly beneficial during rock crawling, where wheel placement and chassis flexibility are critical. Combined with the portal axles and high ground clearance, the suspension system enables the FMS FMS12404RTROR to traverse complex terrain with minimal chassis roll and maximum control. Whether navigating tight indoor courses or natural outdoor obstacles, the suspension ensures a smooth and responsive driving experience.
What benefits does the high-strength nylon frame offer?
The integrated nylon frame of the FMS FCX24 Lemur is a departure from conventional metal side beams and plastic trusses. By consolidating the chassis into a single high-strength nylon structure, the FMS FMS12404RTROR achieves a lower overall weight and higher rigidity. This design reduces flex during high-speed maneuvers and improves power efficiency by minimizing drivetrain losses. The mid-mounted power assembly further lowers the center of gravity, enhancing stability and control. For enthusiasts seeking a crawler that combines lightweight construction with robust performance, the nylon frame is a standout feature that contributes to the overall agility and durability of the FMS FCX24 Lemur.
How do roof-mounted spotlights and metal gear servo add realism and control?
Visual appeal and precise handling are both addressed in the FMS FMS12404RTROR. The roof-mounted spotlights not only enhance realism but also improve visibility during low-light conditions, making night-time crawling more immersive. Meanwhile, the metal gear steering servo delivers accurate and responsive control, essential for navigating tight turns and technical terrain. This servo setup ensures long-term durability, resisting wear and maintaining performance over extended use. Together, these features elevate the driving experience, allowing users to enjoy both the aesthetic and functional benefits of a well-engineered mini crawler.
Can the FMS FCX24 Lemur be upgraded for even better performance?
For drivers looking to push the limits of the FMS FCX24 Lemur, a range of optional upgrades is available. These include metal link rods for enhanced suspension strength, metal differentials for improved torque distribution, and brass wheel counterweights for better traction and stability. The universal joint drive shaft and metal gears further boost drivetrain efficiency and durability. These components are designed to integrate seamlessly with the FCX24 chassis, allowing users to tailor the FMS FMS12404RTROR to their specific performance needs. Whether aiming for faster speeds or more technical crawling, the upgrade path ensures continued evolution and customization.
Is the FMS FMS12404RTROR suitable for indoor and outdoor use?
Versatility is a defining trait of the FMS FCX24 Lemur. With compact dimensions and a wheelbase of 139mm, the crawler is ideal for indoor use, capable of navigating obstacles made from everyday items like laptops and keyboards. However, the true potential of the FMS FMS12404RTROR is revealed in outdoor environments, where its high ground clearance, four-link suspension, and portal axles allow it to tackle natural terrain with ease.
