Experience the features normally associated with larger 1/10 scale crawlers with the latest, EVO spec 1/18th Outback XP from FTX.

Small scale doesn’t mean less features and the EVO is no exception, boasting a servo operated 2-speed transmission for high and low speed crawling. A new final drive ratio provides the EVO with super slow crawling performance coupled with a new 130 size 100T motor for maximum torque. Switch to second gear for more straight-line speed when on flat ground. Full internal metal gears mean you can consider a future larger motor size upgrade, such as 180, 240 or 270 without losing sleep. The transmissions reverse rotation of the rear driveshaft also helps to minimise chassis torque twist.
Weight bias is redesigned to increase crawling performance with weight further forward and lower. Of course, front and rear portal axles provide super clearance over obstacles.
Choose from three super detailed 1.2mm thick painted lexan bodies; Rock Van, Texan pick up or Unitrak utility vehicle, all featuring moulded scale accessories and LED lights.
When it comes to small scale crawling, it doesn’t get much better than an FTX Outback Mini XP EVO!

How does the 2-speed transmission enhance trail versatility?
The servo-operated 2-speed gearbox in the FTX FTX5485GY brushed 4WD mini crawler with portal axles and 2-speed transmission allows users to toggle between two distinct driving modes. First gear delivers a final drive ratio of 98:1 for ultra-slow crawling precision, ideal for rock gardens and technical terrain. Second gear shifts to 24.5:1, offering increased speed for flat ground and trail cruising. This dual-mode flexibility ensures the FTX Outback Evo Texan with high torque gearbox and clipless body mount FTX5485GY remains responsive and capable across varied environments, giving users full control over torque and pace.
Why are portal axles essential for small-scale crawling?
Front and rear portal axles on the FTX FTX5485GY Texan trail truck with aluminium chassis and LED light system elevate the axle housing above the wheel centreline, significantly increasing ground clearance. This design allows the FTX Outback Mini XP Texan with 130 brushed motor and panhard bar steering FTX5485GY to traverse rocks, roots, and uneven surfaces without snagging or bottoming out. The portal configuration also contributes to reduced torque twist, thanks to the reverse rotation of the rear driveshaft. Combined with the low centre of gravity and forward-biased weight distribution, the portal axles make the FTX 1/18 Texan crawler with water-resistant electronics and bead lock wheels FTX5485GY a formidable performer in tight, technical trail conditions.
What makes the aluminium chassis ideal for off-road use?
The aluminium rail chassis of the FTX FTX5485GY Outback Mini XP Evo Texan matt grey 1/18 trail crawler RTR provides a rigid and lightweight backbone for the entire vehicle. This structural integrity ensures minimal flex under load, maintaining consistent suspension geometry and drivetrain alignment. The chassis layout also supports the front-mounted motor and panhard bar steering system, contributing to the low centre of gravity and tight turning radius of 80cm. Whether navigating steep inclines or side-hill traverses, the aluminium rails deliver the durability and stability required for confident off-road exploration.
How does the oversized 130 brushed motor improve torque delivery?
Equipped with a 130 size 100T brushed motor, the FTX Outback Mini XP Texan with 130 brushed motor and panhard bar steering FTX5485GY offers sustained torque output for demanding crawl scenarios. This motor size is oversized relative to typical 1/18 scale platforms, allowing for longer run times and improved throttle response. The motor pairs seamlessly with the high torque transmission and metal gear internals, ensuring reliable power delivery without overheating or gear slippage. For users seeking future upgrades, the drivetrain is compatible with larger motor formats such as 180, 240, or 270, thanks to its reinforced gearing and transmission layout.
What benefits do clipless body mounting and bead lock wheels offer?
The FTX Outback Evo Texan with high torque gearbox and clipless body mount FTX5485GY features a clipless body mounting system that simplifies access to internal components while maintaining a secure fit during operation. This system eliminates the need for body pins, streamlining maintenance and battery swaps. Complementing this is the inclusion of bead lock wheels, which mechanically secure the tyre bead to the rim. This prevents tyre slippage under torque and maintains consistent traction across varied surfaces. Together, these features enhance usability and performance, making the FTX 1/18 Texan crawler with water-resistant electronics and bead lock wheels FTX5485GY both trail-ready and user-friendly.
How do the LED lights and water-resistant electronics improve usability?
The full-function LED light system on the FTX FTX5485GY Texan trail truck with aluminium chassis and LED light system is controlled directly from the transmitter, allowing users to activate headlights and auxiliary lighting as needed. This adds realism to the driving experience and improves visibility during low-light conditions. The electronics suite, including the 4-channel ESC/RX, is water-resistant to PPX 4 standard, enabling operation in wet or dusty environments without risk of short-circuiting. These features ensure the FTX FTX5485GY remains reliable and visually immersive, regardless of weather or terrain.
Is the FTX Outback Mini XP Texan suitable for extended trail sessions?
With a 7.4V 2S 600mAh Li-Po battery and USB charger included, the FTX Outback Mini XP Evo Texan matt grey 1/18 trail crawler RTR offers extended run times of up to 45 minutes per charge. This capacity supports longer trail sessions without frequent interruptions, making the best 1/18 scale Texan crawler with aluminium rails and LED lights FTX FTX5485GY ideal for enthusiasts who value endurance and consistency. The battery system integrates seamlessly with the water-resistant electronics and brushed motor, ensuring balanced power delivery and thermal stability throughout each run.
Why is the FTX Outback Mini XP Texan a smart investment for trail enthusiasts?
Combining portal axles, metal gears, and a high torque transmission, the affordable brushed mini crawler with long run time and tight turning radius FTX FTX5485GY delivers performance and value in equal measure. Its modular design allows for future upgrades, while its factory setup provides immediate satisfaction. Whether you're refining your crawl technique or exploring RC for the first time, the FTX Outback Mini XP Evo Texan offers a balanced blend of style, control, and reliability.
